Well, first off, AJ Green and Brate aren't available for trade, this isn't Madden. Second, while I fully support the idea of loading up when you have a rookie QB, we aren't there yet. We have a mountain of cap space next summer too and a roster full of questions. We need to see how many answers we have already. Ultimately it boils down to Allen, if he proves himself it will dramatically increase our bargaining power with FAs. I'm fine signing guys with the money we have this year, giving away future assets is a terrible idea.

Per Beane: bills still in on Ansah

I'm not sure I ever remember a year with this much of a lack of vet trades during the draft (outside Rosen I'm not sure a single current player was traded during the draft) and we have yet to see cap casualty cuts. We have the cap space to add a couple "splash" vets if they do shake free, I really hope we use it considering we still stand to be well under the cap next year. -
New O-Line; From 31st to top 5 in one off season?
Chuck Wagon replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope they prove me wrong, but I think it's ridiculous to claim we have the pieces for a top 5 oline, especially in year 1. If we are league average that's a huge step up and we all should be thrilled with that. Individually the Cowboys Oline have top of the league players at LT / C / RG between Smith / Fredrick / Martin. Maybe Morse is there, though most place him only in the "very good" category, but otherwise I don't think we have anywhere near a top 5 individual piece at any one position. Really tough for the "sum to be better than the parts" by a huge margin the first year together. -
I now understand why the Bills passed on DK Metcalf

It's the flaw in the death star of this predraft process. Media isn't making picks. Often times they are used by teams as smokescreens. None of us know where teams truly evaluate prospects. Even in post draft grades, people are really only grading based upon their own evaluations. -
SI's Benoit: Oliver pick gets a C

I was going to say football in general, but you summed it up -
That's what I think. A trade back to ~10 spots, pick up more ammo, then work on using our 1st 4th rounder and several day 3 picks to move in and get 3 players tonight. I'd love to walk out tonight with one of these CBs, an olineman and a WR.

Too much talent available to trade up, we have the 8th pick tonight.

2019 NFL Draft - Day 1 Debrief
Chuck Wagon replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The idea of drafting Greedy and putting Tre in his ear all offseason is really really tempting. -
It's the NFL. Twitched up 280 lbs guys who run 4.4 40s are coming after the QB. The idea you can construct some brick wall offensive line is out dated. Teams scheme to get guys open quickly and get the ball out of the QB's hands, unless you have a guy like Josh Allen who can keep plays alive for guys to get open downfield.

I'm really tempted to say CB or Oline given who is still there, but I think we desperately need offensive playmakers.

RD 1, Pick 9: DT Ed Oliver, University of Houston
Chuck Wagon replied to SDS's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. It's a double edge sword. He played at Houston, against "lesser" competition (but let's be real here, the AAC is still full of future NFL players and the talent level of most of the league isn't that different from an Illinois or Rutgers) but was the focus of every single offensive game plan and was still productive. Meanwhile these guys from Bama, OSU, Clemson are playing with 8-10 other NFL players on their team and half the games (or more) are against wildly out manned squads. -
I agree on Warner. I don't understand why they don't just put Bucky on in his spot (I get it, name value) and let DJ & Bucky nerd out, they obviously have chemistry.

Still way better than ESPN-TMZ
