  1. I'd like Hunter and Patterson. I'm not counting on Listenbee to be anything more than a Goodwin field stretching replacement. Take Davis or Williams and pair with Sammy to be the "every down" guys, then each of Hunter / Listenbee / Patterson can fill a different role. Let Powell / Lewis / UDFA battle it out for the last spot.
  2. Sam Shields is an Aaron Williams level injury risk.
  3. Most coaches / organizations would flip their lid, but I could see BB thinking this was pretty funny.
  4. I hate the contracts Garcon and Britt got. Seems like those guys have played their best football and a getting paid for it. I do think WR is where you can find some diamonds. Other folks have mentioned the names, but I like Hunter / Patterson / Russell Sheppard. Maybe I'm off base but I think all 3 might combine to cost what a guy like Britt does. Patterson and Sheppard can contribute on special teams as well. It would be really great to drop down a few picks from 10, still get one of Davis or Williams and go into camp with: Watkins / Davis or Williams / Hunter / Patterson / Sheppard / Listenbee / Powell / Lewis. The goal with a WR corps is to build a "basketball team" with guys who do different things. That would be an interesting and diverse group that possesses plenty of upside.
  5. You think if we asked the rest of the league nicely to let us draft a QB, a WR or two,a TE, a RT, a CB, a DT to replace Kyle, and a safety or two they'd feel sorry for us and let us have them? If we asked really nicely?
  6. If they get DeAndre Hopkins (who they tried to get at the trade deadline too), we may as well not pay attention at all this year.
  7. He's a depth piece. He's certainly not a Gilmore replacement. A NRC replacement is much more accurate. He gives a lot away if he's one of your two safeties, but he's a quality football player. The only unfortunate thing is the way we are paying him we are projecting him to something bigger than his actual skill set. McD might be able to shine him up and either guy might be more than they have been, but based on what he's done so far Proyer projects better as a special teams ace / backup safety.
  8. PFF is tough. It's likely the best source you will find for assessment of individual players, but be very clear, it's not pro scouts giving the assessments, it's amateur football fans willing to donate what's essentially a full time job's worth of time to the website. Literally anyone can sign up to write for them if you are willing to donate the time. So you have a untrained eye who is not in the huddle or meeting rooms writing up players they very likely have preconceived notions about. It's a better source than anything on ESPN, especially on relatively obscure players, but it does require a massive heap of salt in using the assessment.
  9. They could trade 5 2nd round picks for Jimmy and still have better draft capital than us.
  10. He was basically a nickle back for the Packers, inside corner / safety hybrid.
  11. He's certainly not an outside corner. He lost his role to two rookies by the end of last season and they made no effort to retain him. He was a backup for the Pack, but the good news is they have a pretty good secondary. He's a decent player, but we badly overpaid him and we are projecting him to a bigger role than he should likely fill. But who knows, McD might be able to polish him up.
  12. No need to worry about Cleveland's draft picks, we've already perfected screwing ourselves.
  13. Apparently he's good at covering kickoffs, but it's a small sample size on the Browns.
  14. Because he got trucked by LeVeon Bell that one time and burnt by Chris Hogan that other time, duh.
  15. If anyone needs tape on Poyer, I'm sure it can be found on a lot of the Browns opponents highlight reels.
  16. He was the Packers 2nd worst run defender last year. If we wanted a safety who could tackle, we should have gotten in on Cyprien.
  17. He's a versatile player, but he was the 6th best DB on the Packers last year. They have a good young secondary, but we are basically paying a backup from a good team to be a surefire starter on our team, usually a cardinal sin in FA. He fills a needed role though.
  18. If the Browns get Jimmy G. or Cousins and Garrett is for real, I think the Browns are better than the Bills in 2017.
  19. Given the capital they were working with, I'm not entirely sure they broke their poor drafting streak last year. Coleman had flashes but couldn't stay on the field. They loaded up on receivers but still brought in Kenny Britt on a big deal. They took several olinemen but still paid up for Tretter and Zeitler. Ogbah and Nassib showed some flashes, but it's tough to tell how much was real talent and how much was looking like the tallest short guy on what was a essentially an expansion level defense.
  20. They spent $16 mil to turn a 4th into a 2nd and a 6th. It's still a business, they spent something.
  21. If the Browns use the extra 2nd round pick as more ammo to land Cousins or Jimmy G, it's a smart move. If they plan on going forward with Brock & Kessler at QB, yeesh.
  22. Hey! We are chasing a lucky 9-7 or 10-6 that sneaks into the playoffs!
  23. They burnt $16 mil of cap room to turn a 4th into a 2nd. They weren't likely to use the cap room anyway as there simply isn't enough guys on the market to sign. It's an expensive move, but not exactly clueless.
  24. As ridiculous as it sounds, given the current approach this is the only logical takeway. They've decided to triple down on being ground and pound, plan to play multiple TEs / lead blocking backs the majority of the time, running plenty of zone read and stretch plays. I mean there's almost a hint of logic if you figure the majority of the league is trying to play in space and we go so far to the extreme that we are an unusual matchup and difficult to prepare for weekly. But I can't see it being the basis of a consistent winning organization and I'm not sure our defense has enough personnel to make it stand up.
  25. Agree with this, which makes all the "Lets wait and see the whole picture" infuriating. This organization has earned no benefit of the doubt. We have major holes on the roster and all we are doing is signing luxury positions.
