  1. I like him. I think he's been put in a tough spot with some of the "playoffs or bust" mandates the last few years. Hiring Rex was a really bad move and I don't think it was his fault. If we had hired an offensive minded head coach that offseason and made sure Schwartz felt appreciated as a very nicely compensated DC with complete control over that side of the ball, I think we would be a in a very strong position right now.
  2. It wasn't just Rex. Age and contract statuses hurt too. Even if Mario was still here his level of play has declined precipitously. McKelvin, Aaron Williams, Corey Graham are sitting in FA unsigned. Gilmore is one of the highest paid corners in the league. Kyle Williams is on his last few seasons. The real problem was not being able to hit on later draft picks (and giving away later draft picks in trades) leaving us without cheap young players to fill holes.
  3. Take the Cleveland deal, then a slightly modified version of the Tampa deal if their guy was still on the board.
  4. It's crazy how closely his combine numbers profile to Davis. Reddick is just a few pounds heavier and Davis was just a few ticks faster on the 20 yard shuttle, otherwise it's basically a mirror image.
  5. I think he's punished more by Goff flopping vs anything else. Had Goff come in and run with the job, I think you'd be seeing the opposite happen with Webb and his stock would likely be higher.
  6. Plus Whaley is said to be in love with Watson. Maybe we are taking all 4 of them.
  7. If we move into the top 5 to take one of these QBs I'm going to be physically ill.
  8. I agree. I just think it's more likely he'd shut things down to try to get to the Colts with Luck than with the Redskins. The Redskins may make a solid trade back partner with us if Fournette were to drop to 10, but they need so much help defensively taking a RB may be a luxury not worth investigating. Full disclosure, I have Fat Rob as a keeper in a couple of leagues, I'm really hoping the Redskins give him a chance and don't take a RB early.
  9. Depending on how you define it, Cordy wasn't in the last 5 years. He was taken in 2012, there have been 4 full drafts since then (13 - 16) and we are in year 5 now.
  10. Colts certainly have ties to Stanford.
  11. Don't forget they need to be white from a cold weather school.
  12. Man, McDermott must be some kind of coach if his offense doesn't need a Sammy Watkins and his defense doesn't need a Stephon Gilmore.
  13. "Ehhh, just looks like a run first QB like Tyrod, take a big white guy"
  14. If they let Gilmore walk and decline Sammy's option only to take WR #10 and CB in round 2 that would be so Bills.
  15. I put Cossell / Polian / Jaws / Kiper / McShay in the same bucket. If they knew half as much as they pretend to, some NFL team would be paying them A LOT more money than their current networks. I tend to respect Jeremiah's (and Bucky Brooks on their podcast) opinion the highest of the bunch. He's had offers to work for teams but NFL net is making it worth his while to stay.
  16. Another vote for Dobbs I don't get the Peterman love, especially relative to Dobbs. Webb lost his job to Mahomes due to injury and wasn't going to get it back, but Dobbs just straight up beat out Peterman.
  17. Mixon - Perine reminded me of Henry - Yeldon last year. Mixon was terrifying with the ball in his hands (similar to Henry), but fortunately Oklahoma thought Perine was better for some unknown reason.
  18. That's the thing. If you are bad at evaluating and developing talent for 8 picks, you aren't suddenly going to get better with 4 more picks. They would be crazy to pass on Garret, crazier still to take Trub at #1, but you can't rule it out.
  19. If your first team is the Bills and your second team is the Browns, you are doing it wrong.
  20. They have enough ammo to move up and get either guy (Fournette seems to be the one they want). They have picks 12 - 33 - 52 - 65 - 108 - 145 - 175 - 181 - 185 - 188 #12 + #52 is ~#6 on the trade value chart, so they could use those picks (plus a 5 and/or a 6 if needed) to move to ~#4-#7 to get their RB and still have plenty of picks to go defense.
  21. I'm very excited for the reactions of my Browns backer friends with they take Trub #1 and trade half their cache of draft picks to get Fournette somewhere between #3-#6
  22. Only the Browns would be concerned about smokescreening for the #1 pick. At this point it's really starting to feel like they want to take Trub, but don't want to get roasted in the media, so would really like someone to knock their socks off in a trade. Meanwhile the 49ers are sending Trub signals of their own.
  23. At this point it feels like Polian is fully indoctrinated into the ESPN school of hot takery, but doesn't quite know how to do it.
  24. Lets be real here, the league is more concerned they didn't come up with this idea and weren't able to air it on NFL net than the players having any ties to gambling.
