  1. That we didn't take a QB is proof that Rex thinks Tyrod can also be the man. I really like this 3-way QB thing a lot. No matter who comes out on top, it will be clear that either EJ really worked hard and realized his first round potential, Cassel really still has it, or that Tyrod was really the diamond in the rough that some - including I - believe he is. Who the hell is Mel Kiper anyway !? Top 5 draft moment of all time.
  2. Can't teach speed. Or - in the case of McLovin, ball skills either. Maybe this kid can be different. Definitely fits in this Rex theme so far. Young, fast, versatile.
  3. I predict a huge run on #5 Bills Taylor Jerseys - starting about week 6.
  4. Watching that makes even clearer why TT came to Buffalo and not Denver - dude is on a mission to prove the media wrong - and, more importantly, be a starting NFL QB.
  5. Excellent Post. Typical Hokie.
  6. You got some video ? Are you a Ravens assistant ?
  7. Tyrod is a better runner than EJ. By far. The great unknown - cuz there's no regular season data - is his passing acumen after four years of NFL coaching. If it's comparable - not that hard - Tyrod will beat EJ out. Keep in mind Justin Houston (KC LB in the below video) is a franchise All-Pro LB. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmW0v_plIyA&list=PLAq81tlOB_WnR9u5U5qdX4S8h6x9pNupq&index=5
  8. Good post. First poster so far to pick up the important fact that the Felton pickup was almost like another star OL in terms of both the running and short passing game. I'm more "half-full" than half-empty about this team. With a couple exceptions on either end of the spectrum, every team is an 8-8 team in the NFL when the season begins. One big play either way makes one 9-7 or 7-9. One outcome being considered pretty good and possible playoff caliber and one being a "failed" season. Bills plays from last season that come to mind are the JJ Watt pick 6 and the Lions not hitting chip-shot FGs including a game winner. Bills went 9-7 last year with pedestrian COLLEGE Offensive coaching and a already retired Orton at QB. Even without a first rounder, there are quality OL in the draft we could target and land - for rookie $. I say the OL (plus Felton) isn't horrible but solid average, Tyrod/EJ/Cassell are noticeable improvements and the new, properly used, weapons on offense make enough big plays to win us 3 extra games instead of one - that puts us at 11-5. Easily. This.
  9. Tyrod is gonna b $. Clay is good but we overpaid. Do well in the draft for OL and LB and this team is playoff bound.
  10. Copy that. Pardon my entusiasm. Can't waoi for the season to start with any of the QB's ! Just tried to think of QB's who were winners, gamers, and not known for pure passing acumen. Might have gone prematurely overboard. Kid's a gamer and has"it" though. Anyone saying that about the other 2 ?
  11. Stand corrected. Glad we signed Hughes. I'll trust that's real - an insane 40 time for a LB/DT.
  12. Tyrod Taylor's College coach was Frank Beamer at VT. His signature recipe for success has been ball control offense, suffocating defense and special teams that can also score. Some interesting stats: VT Since 1993: - Overall Computer Rank - #4 of 120 - Overall total defense rank - #5 of 120 - Interceptions - #1 of 120 - Sacks - Top 10 of 120 - Blocked Kicks - #1 of 120 - Non-Offemsive TD's - #1 of 120 - Current consecutive bowl streak - #1 (23 years) More in Tyrod's 3 years as primary starter: 2008 - Rushing Offense - 57 % of total 2009 - Rushing Offense - 53 % of total 2010 - Rushing Offense - 49 % of total So Beamer let him throw more and more as he matured as a passer but VT generally wins games controlling the clock on O, taking the ball away and scoring on D and ST. Any of this sound eeeeerily similar to Rex Ryan's M.O. or eeeeerily similar to how the Bills are set up right now ? Tyrod Taylor is not and will never be Aaron Rogers, Dan Marino or Tom Brady - but have no doubt he can be Roger Staubach, Fran Tarkenton, or even Russell Wilson. Jury is out on this raw talent but he does have the tools, background and moxy to play Rex and Bills football.
  13. Ok point - overall speed in the NFL is better. But, no.
  14. If we're bringing up college, Tyrod is 2-0 vs. EJ. And Russel Wilson. Just sayin.
  15. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yuedZ1Y_dU4 Awesome.
  16. Truth. Hokies are at worst cautiously optimistic, but generally confident that the City of Buffalo is about to fall in love with TT. Kid has "it". And. All. Those. Weapons. And he is just as potent on the edge. Good news is, if named starter, he won't need to prove it..
  17. Yes. I think that's true. Kubiak is also gone from the Ravens as OC but loved TT. No detail on whether improvements in his pure pocket passing was the reason. From a Ravens article pre-season last year: "Backup Tyrod Taylor likes new Offensive Coordinator Gary Kubiak’s offense, as it suits his skillset well. The results are showing on the field, as Taylor has opened some eyes with his play under center. “I’ve been very impressed,” Kubiak said. “Ty really bought into what we’re doing; he’s working extremely hard. The thing I love about Ty, I know his goal is to be a starter in this league and that’s what you want as a coach. So he’s very competitive, pushes Joe every day, doing a great job.” Head Coach John Harbaugh split up his team during Monday’s practice at M&T Bank Stadium. There was Team Tyrod and Team Flacco, with the second- and first-team offenses squaring off in an 11-on-11 scrimmage. Team Tyrod won." http://www.baltimoreravens.com/news/article-1/Tyrod-Taylor-Impressing-In-Training-Camp/e7667379-51a8-4aaf-a0ad-3421da5a247c
  18. The Felton hire is almost like getting another star OL along with Incognito. Then we have the draft - in which we will not need to take a QB, WR, or RB. If still there: #50 overall - Ali Marpet - Hobart #81 overall - Laurence Gibson - VT Both blew up the combine and would push to start on this line. Find a TE with the remaining picks.
  19. - Flacco is a Super Bowl champion QB with a huge contract and never gets hurt - Taylor wanted a situation where he had a chance to start - Was an unrestricted FREE agent and exercised that FREEdom - Has been pretty open about simply wanting to move
  20. Dude's wrong about why Tyrod left the Ravens. Harsh on Rex given that the GM was also a big a part of the Jets downfall. Tyrod's definitely on a mission to prove people like this wrong. Time will tell.
  21. Dude. Orton beat out EJ. All you need to know.
  22. Tyrod was 2-0 against Russell Wilson in college. Just sayin. Rex, your coach, thought he was as good as or better then Geno - else he would not have tried to acquire him for the Jets, I'd go with that.
  23. Cassel in Patriot form with Tyrod as a change-up/back-up sounds about the best we could hope for this year ...and the next '85 Bears D.
  24. Thanks for the props. Tyrod will wow with his athleticism. No doubt. Arm strength is real good. He's also a character guy. I am as curious as all VT fans to see how much real NFL QB coaching has helped him read defenses and see the field better. He got by at VT on pure talent cuz VT had crap for QB coaching. Thinking the Ravens had a little bit better....
