So again we have many tellING me that there is ABSOLUTELY no scenario or way where Allen could not have done better in 2018/19 because the coaching and planning was so brilliant that it was mapped out to begin opening day 2020 vs. the Jets. I didn't know the coaching was that good?????😉 Okay you're right Daboll was always a genius and McD too. My only defense is I can say McD named Peterman his starting QB vs. SD in 2017 and the starter in 2018 (and no 300 yard games for 3 years), so excuse me if I am skeptical of his eye for talent at QB.😜
-
No better, schemes more effective passing. How many times in 2018/19 did the Bills telegraph run plays and seem to play between the 20's vs. this years much more aggressive play. Again you see what you think you saw in 2017/19 & I saw something different. 2014/16 24-24, 2017/19 25-23 (and two playoff losses)..... I asked about QBR...... https://www.espn.com/nfl/player/gamelog/_/id/3918298/josh-allen He threw for 122 vs. KC (14/27 and an int) and had a higher QBR!!!!!
-
And the 23 games they lost 2017-19, none could have been due to bad offense and the inability to throw for 300? Again a circular argument. You say it doesn't matter & I say no other team went a year without doing it once (in the last decade, though maybe you'll find 1-2) and McD did it 3 staright years!!!! More then an anomaly.
-
I am coming around, however McD was just so conservative that regardless of the situation he just couldn't figure out the need for offense years 1-3..... We have scrubs all over the place throwing for 300 & many very early in their careers. This is a special year (to date), but look at just how many games the Bills were blown out 2017-19 and there were many chances to see better #'s. However the past is the past & nothing can be done, however to pretend like some do that everything was done as part of a plan and they hit on every decisionthe coaches made is wrong. I was on in 2018 & 2019 (oh & 2017) continaully upset about the offenses #'s and why they just were atrocious and accepted by many here. Now we'll here complaints about the run game, which is the plight of being a Bills fan......😉
-
Again agree to disagree..... The fact the Bills under McD, went 48 games unabale to throw for 300 yards a single time speaks volumes. And every once in a while we see the offeinse regress and play "scared" i.e. vs. KC & NE. An interesting comment during the game was noting that the Bills finally spent on offense and realized you can't win scoring <20 points/game.

Line Shift in SF Game: Bills now Underdogs
Billsfan1972 replied to Casey D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How???? They are a decimated team and yes a good win vs. The Rams, but that was about it since Garropolo went down. -
375, 4 TD's no picks, 80% completions and 139.1% Rating I get. Also somehow on ESPN they claimed he fumbled not Moss. I'd love to see all those posts I defended him in 2018 & 2019, blaming it on Daboll and the play calling holding him back and now we see how being aggressive and paying playmakers actually works in the NFL..... Who would have thought that????😜😉

The defense certainly played better and seem improved, but doesn't take away that it was a sloppy game. Coaching mistakes by Lynn cost them a # of points. The 172 yards rushing were almost all in the 4th (102 I think) & earlier rushing put the Bills in a # of holes. The Bills after 2 huge 10 point wins are still only +17 net, which metrics say is closer to a 6.5 win team, and face it 2 are vs. The Jets..... Yes yes, we haven't played Kax, like Cleveland, Pitt & Miami have...... And if LAC scores on the last play, this thread is not here.....

Exactly what I thought & saw. Too many plays were telegraphed.

It's quite telling how the Bills play without Brown. He's a good receiver, but for some reason he seems crucial to the Bills success..... He wasn't there for the NE & LAC game & played injured vs. KC (and that bad drop on the third play of the game). These are the only games where Allen threw for <200. Only game where he was hobbled/out where they were successful passing was the Rams. Hard to believe he is that important, but the stats seem to support it.

Should we give the Bills a pass vs. LAC???
Billsfan1972 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Again for those upset read the text..... I said I'm usually tough & came away not happy.... Was anyone happy about the Offense yesterday? Running game only looks okay due to the 4th quarter, but was not so good for the most part. Again I keep asking for a true dominant 4 quarter game and LAC is 3-8, and we didn't blow out 0-11 NYJ either game. Oh and 4 games have come down to the last possession. And again as per the title, giving them a pass was tongue in cheek saying that while not happy, not getting upset about it all as they won and that in the end is what mattered. JMHO.... -

Negativity or pointing out issues is not allowed after a W. -

So bad offensive line play needs to be addressed, seems to have been an issue (heck 7 sacks by Seattle) of late. -

Glad though my thread is up to 5 pages of responses in less then 2 hours......😜 This is a Fan Site..... Yesterday was a disjointed performance and yes I expected more. Look at Allen's #'s and there was concern. Everyone pointed to conditions vs. Ten, KC & NE.... Yesterday was a perfect day & 154 yards passing. All is good, they're 8-3, but yep expected more yesterday (especially after the Bye and the Arizona game). Sheez.... -

Whatever you want to think. I came away from the game not happy at all, seeing it was a bye week & the bad taste in my mouth from the Arizona game (where there was some concern with the Bills play & playcalling on offense imo). I was really looking forward to the game and see the Bills assert themselves, which did not happen. However after sleeping on it (no did not toss & turn and dream about the Bills all night), I just thought that it was not a great game by them, that they'll learn from it & heck it was a win. -

It was tongue in cheek.... Just that they seemed off after the bye and did not seem sharp. It was too a game they could not afford to lose. The running game (outside Josh was not particularly good until the 4th... -
I am usually tough on the Bills and after yesterday's game, came away not very happy. Mostly it is always about the offense & yesterday they were out of sync & Bosa just killed them. Disjointed and just not a great game to watch. Concerned that they seem flat of late (outside of Seattle game). As for the running game, really it only came to life late in the game, and while stats look good, it put them in a hole early in the game. Again want to see a really dominant game (heck look at Atl yesterday). But this week I'll give them a pass. However no excuse vs. SF 49'ers & looking ahead to the Steelers, or similar excuses.
-
An ugly game coming off a bye (and a gut wrenching loss). I expected much more on a perfect day in Orchard Park. Very good review Shaw, but please stop with the McDermott envy. It was not a well coached game. SF showed signs of life, but expect that to be a one-off, then comes Pitt......

The Bills Aren't a Top-Tier Team Yet
Billsfan1972 replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Simply put there has been 4 games that were decided on the last possession LA Rams, NYJ (game 2), NE & Arizona. The Bills are 3-1. The Chargers on the otherhand have blown almost every game the last possession. While I'm sure the Bills would have won the NYJ game, it is scary to think if either the Rams or NE game went the other way, this team is in much worse shape then they are now. NE too lost 4 games on the final possession & won 2....
