Breakdown of Leonard Fournette 47 yard touchdown
Billsfan1972 replied to HoofHearted's topic in The Stadium Wall
Another long TD run vs. the Bills defense...... This is an issue. -
Fake punt & stuffed, followed by not going for it and TB marching for the 27-10 FG. He has no idea what call to make.
-
NE is not a juggernaut that will win 10 straight.
-
Again anyone think NE is so good that they're going 3-1 at worst (if Bills beat them)? Bills at worst should go 4-1. Starts today.....

Hey a good weather forecast on Sunday
Billsfan1972 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall
Football Reference says they were 17mph. Since I wasn't there, I do remember sun, but appears to have been some wind. Anyhow after NE, hopefully we'll see an actual football game. -

59 in Fla (yep northern) and 16mph winds, not 100% ideal. Not clutching straws, just posting what I just read. -
Funny I just went through this year's schedule and outside NO and obviously inside the weather has had some effect every game. Wind in almost every game, some rain and never perfect conditions, which is where this team is at it's best. Interesting that even the Pitt game had a fair bit of wind 17mph. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/buf/2021.htm Or will complaints be about the humidity come Monday.

Absolutely right. Why do we have 180 lbs defensive backs out there, when NE has 8 men on the LOS and one receiver into block and 2 backs? I keep watching the play and the Bills were lined up very loose. Again I'm no expert, but while the Bills had a threat of a passing game, the Pats line stood up well. Conversely the Pats made no attempt to even look like they would throw and the Bills didn't seem to adapt. Here's highlights from the 1st quarter, Usually there is 5 vs. 5 on LOS. The Bills are playing tight and the Pats have receivers spread out. The TD run the Pats had 8 on the LOS vs. the Bills 4. They seemed in the wrong defense there.
-
Again I ask, why did we look so loose on Defense and weren't crowding the LOS, when they showed no intent of passing? I'm a layman when it comes to defense, but everyone looked lost and we had only 4 on the LOS. They had 1 receiver on the line, I guess a TE and two backs & showed no intent to pass the ball. BTW wake me up when the Bills bust an easy 65 yard run like that....
-
Yep I was outraged, but more I was looking as I am not an expert on X&O's to try and understand what happened there as it seemed to me it was 8 Pats on the line vs. 4 bills on a 3rd and 5 and looked like a terrible defensive scheme, especially since no way Jones could have thrown a 5 yard pass against that wind. It's similar to any 3rd & 3 when the DB is playing 10 yards off a receiver and it is a simple pass for a first down.
-
Again how does it happen when they are not passing or even showing any indication that they will attempt any pass play of significance. I understand when there is a spread, there are holes that could be created, but here there was going to be nothing more then a run or a throw to a back out of the backfield at worst.
-
Incredible. Again still don't get it. On 3rd or 4th & short, yes when 8-10 are line up on LOS that once past the first line the back may score a TD, but here the Bills had only 4 on the LOS and the rest were covering so loose as if a deep pass was possible. That picture above shows just how bad they played it. Thanks for the explanations, but inexcusable none the less imo.
-
Which was 3 plays after the terrible fumble by Breida (again a terrible call on first down), when the Bills were marching with the wind. Jones had not attempted a pass & it is 3rd & 5 against the wind (Bob Seger anyone?). Peyton Manning hit the nail on the head..... No receivers spread out and 8 Patriots on the line vs. 4 Bills and LB's & DB's looking ready for a pass downfield. Sorry I'm not about X&O's, but what were the Bills thinking NE was going to do?

MYTH Busted: "The Defense couldn't stop the Run"

Normal circumstances sure, though Tennessee San for that the week before vs NE and were buried. These were not normal conditions. They threw 3 times!!! The 65 yard run was a terrible and never should have happened. Watch thecreplay. NE had 8 men on the line and the Bills 4.... What were they thinking? -

Did you see the video above & the Mannings' reaction? I'm dumbfounded (and I pay minimal attention to defensive alignment and formation), how NE has Everyone on the LOS and the Bills are playing a Nickel when the possibility of a pass is next to nothing (i.e. every play has been a run). -

No they were not on that play. Ridiculous coverage, when there is not a receiver lined up off the LOS. -

This was 3 plays after the terrible fumble by Breida (again a terrible call on first down), when the Bills were marching with the wind. Here's the Mannings' hitting the nail on the head..... No receivers spread out and everyone on the line and the Bills piss poor defense on the play. Get out of the Nickel Defense!!!!!!!!! -

Inexcusable to allow a 65 yard run when everyone knows you are running the ball. Terrible defense and quit trying to make excuses. -
Great write-up. Again the 65 yard TD was unacceptable. Third & 5 and you know NE is running & up the middle, as it seemed every play and they broke down. 10 on the line and force Jones to throw into the wind. Why have I not seen one well designed play all year from the Bills inside the 10? Shouldn't something be hidden for just this situation. The first down hand-off to Moss at the 6 killed them (then they are panicking and sack the next play, when 30 yard FG's are an issue)..... Allen should have been more involved in the run game. There was little designed to take advantage of his ability. Still a playoff team, but Sunday will be big.
