Billsfan1972 replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives

How can you compare Watkins & Beckham
Billsfan1972 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You mean he wouldn't have caught those passes 10' over his head, behind him, thrown away and OB? And of course Orton would have looked at him 12.88X's/gm...... -

So Woods ranked 63rd in the league (Watkins 24), which is pretty pathetic. He had 104 targets or 1.5/game less then Watkins. In any case it is rather sad how bad it was. BTW I imagine Beckham was doubled too (and extra attention), but the effort was made to get him the ball..... -

And clowney was a great draft pick (just having fun)? The issue is that the offensive game plan sucked all season. To be excited and cheer for a player is what you watch football for. Prior to this year and QB's not throwing for 300 yards was a recurring joke (and this year the 300 yard games were an anomaly). Using Watkins as a decoy & continually sending him on useless patterns seemed a waste. Watching Beckham run free and have the ball thrown in catchable spots was frustrating as a Bills fan. We'll see what 2015 brings...... -

Yep DB falls and an easy TD (seen him have many of those this year). So what else are you saying? Watkins hasn't jumped for a ball all season? Funny only game they seemed to send him out on great routes was week 2 with EJ as the QB..... http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2014091400/2014/REG2/dolphins@bills#menu=gameinfo|contentId%3A0ap3000000394742&tab=videos And let me remind about these two catches..... http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2014100502/2014/REG5/bills@lions#menu=gameinfo|contentId%3A0ap3000000405801&tab=videos http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2014100502/2014/REG5/bills@lions#menu=gameinfo|contentId%3A0ap3000000405416&tab=videos -
How can you compare Watkins & Beckham

Just it get's tough to watch after a while. You have a star to cheer for and see so little attempts go his direction. He ranked 24th in yards and with a real QB should have been in the top 10. Tough to watch as he was targeted 128 times and I swear the majority of those targets were lousy passes or Orton/EJ throwing it into the ground. -

Yep when the ball is thrown to you in position to catch it and 5.5X/gm more it certainly looks that way..... I say it's because Orton is lousy at reads, throws uncatchable balls (or throwaways) and routes they send Watkins on have little or no separation. But keep on explaining how lousy the trade was...... -
When the last week of the season Beckham catches 12 passes for 185 yards on 21!!!!! targets? The last 9 weeks of the season he was targeted 116 times or 12.89 times/game and caught 81 passes. Now I don't watch every NYG games like I do Bills games, but on the highlights he's running open or has separation on pass plays designed to do just that. Yesterday Watkins had 5 targets (the two incompletions was one lousy pass that should have been an easy catch and the other OB). Last 9 weeks 30 catches on 67 targets (and probably 35 of them throwaways and uncatchable). Just design some plays and throw him the damn ball!!!!

Beckham made the catch of the decade (maybe best ever). He also runs open, has pass plays designed for him to catch balls and make easy catches. He has a good qb who looks to him and delivers the pass. Sammy has none of that. Outside one pass to goodwin, and the 89 yarder to watkins vs. the jets, I remember no long passes completed to a wr in stride.... Every week we see QB's hitting those passes and I see 1-2 passes where a receiver actually breaks open and Orton overthrows him..... I remember an earlier post about targets and the # of uncatchable and bad balls thrown to Watkins is criminal...... No panic and the bills have a receiver fans can get excited for if ever there is a passable qb!!!!

Ughhhhhh!!!!!! -
Watkins has been very good. How about going to the Houston board and discussing the #1 pick Clowney????
-
Not the point. However there are many offensive pass interference calls that are ignored. I can't even remember them showing a replay. Oh and I forgot when the Denver player ran into the kicker. Was a bad snap but caught cleanly and he got the punt off and was hit. Oh and the Denver player hitting the TE with his helmet with everyone jawing and the refs ignoring it.

Hackett.. Screen Salesman of the year/ K Gun is Dead
Billsfan1972 replied to Bocephuz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As soon as Orton is spooked he throws it away or dumps it. The fourth down was the correct call, but you don't send Chandler on a difficult route, he goes over the middle. Those passes are for WR's. -
Just throw him the damn ball..... Even the announcers were commenting on the formations and routes not conducive to producing targets. Again look at targets and passes for someone like Odell Beckham (15 of 42 passes thrown by Eli yesterday) v. Watkins 12 of 57 (Chandler 11 & Jackson 14). A lot of stats to throw back and forth, but when people complain about trading up and having a star to cheer for, I'll take it.....

QB Index: Ranking the starters 1-32
Billsfan1972 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Russell Wilson has no wide receivers at all and has to improvise almost every play. Incredible to watch. Seattle made a huge mistake letting Golden Tate go. Colin Kaepenrick to me has been atrocious. How do you play the Giants (get 5 ints) and put up only 16 points and follow that up with 17 vs. Washington (who are lousy on defense) at home and 3 vs. Seattle with those receivers? The fact Eli Manning is in the top half also tells you there are just not that many god QB's. The problem with the list is that almost every QB has bad games. The difference is the mediocre one's too put up monster games too. Bills fans have been so deprived for years that a 300 yard game is considered unbelievable. -
The passes to Watkins were horrible. Both Ints were lousy reads and passes. Don't blame Watkins for Orton's errors. Also the Bills ran it plenty and seldom well. People excited by running it into the line for 4 yards are stuck in the 70's. Been a long time since I actually saw a hole created by the O-line (and much of the blame is the formations where the line looks crowded/stacked.

GB is not a great team on the road. Three bad losses all on the road (Detroit, Seattle, NO) & barely beat Minnesota and Miami. However a win vs. Denver helps NE and their quest for homefield through the playoffs so if one game up going into week 17 means NE playing for nothing. What the Bills need is to figure out the offense and score 28+ pts.

Offense almost unwatchable....

Ball @ midfield with a timeout and over one minute on the clock and we ran 4 plays and picked up 10 yards...... No idea what they were doing...... -

Billsfan1972 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That may have been the worst call of the game. Uncatchable and well defended with Watkins wide open over the middle. Then there was the sequence at the end of the first half where faced with fourth & 2 and 25 seconds left they throw a 2 yarder to Watkins to set up a 53 vs. a 55 yard fg!!!!
