Are you seriously this level one sided?  TOP also is due to the offense.  Did you know if you don’t have to punt, you get to keep the ball longer?

Are you really not aware of that?

Long prolonged drives are the basis for TOP.  When you can't stop the other team from gaining chunk yards and getting first downs, you are not doing your job as a defense.  As stated above only Miami had more yards yesterday (and don't forget the defensive penalties and yards added there).  Only NO had more TOP.  But yep the defence was amazing yesterday.

And I have not absolved the offence and made it known I thought Dorsey again schemed a lousy game.  He has this dink & dunk approach with Allen and works like a charm when you are playing inferior teams (or one that you own at home).

The offenses fault is that they couldn't stay on the field or score points.  You cited 40 minutes of Jax TOP as if its only a function of defense.  If offense puts together the occasional drive, the Bills TOP improves.  If Bills TOP improves the defense has more time to rest.  Since games are of finite length, that leaves less time for the opponent to possess the ball.  Do you understand these concepts?

The offense hung a defensive unit missing half its starters out to dry all game.  Any other interpretation of the game is critically flawed.  But sure, maybe if the defense got off the field a little sooner then Martin could have uncorked a few more bombs.

No TOP is due to the defence not getting a stop and allowing long drives.  I've already said I think Dorsey needs to unleash Allen and was obvious the dinks and dunks weren't working.

40 minutes of TOP was because the offense couldn't stay on the field.

    Look at this drive chart:

    https://www.espn.com/nfl/playbyplay/_/gameId/401547228

    1. 3 plays, 1:25, punt

    2. 3 plays, 1:56, punt

    3. 6 plays, 2:06, punt

    4. 4 plays, 2:24, punt

    5. 11 plays 4:30, TD

    6. 4 plays, 1:26, punt

    7. 4 plays, 1:34, punt

    8. 4 plays, 1:43, INT  (remarkably, the score was only 11-7 at this moment and the game was winnable)

    9. 4 plays, 0:45, TD

We have losses to two of the shittiest offenses in the NFL.  So theres that.

How about looking at Jax and their possessions.  9,9,8,7,7,17,10,5(TD).....  That's the offences fault?

If the Bills make a play...

Two Red Zone interruptions, saving 6-14 points.

    Wait!  Um...uh...not THOSE plays.  Um...those don't count!  Because...reasons!

    Really?

Yes they made plays on third downs.  That was 2 of 18 third downs.  They did not on 10 of them, that Jax converted.

I love how the 40 minutes TOP is 100% the Offences fault....😉

Six defensive starters out.  Here's a fact I shouldn't have to explain...backup players are not as good as starters.  So, when you have backups playing the D isn't going to play as well.  Shocking, I know.

If I hand you the box of straws will you stop grasping at them?

Woe is me (and the Bills).  Make one play and the game flips.  The Bills made none (and the turnovers as said were deep in Buffalo territory again after sustained drives).

Let me see if I understand you...the defense losing its best players is an excuse...the same defense who entered the London game BEFORE losing most those players was:

    • 2nd fewest points allowed
    • Largest margin of victory in NFL
    • First in sacks
    • First in Interception
    • First in takeaways

And that is despite the fact we faced the top offense in the NFL in Miami, still the only team to shut them down and first to sack Tua.  But its an excuse when that same defense enters the game missing its starting corners in Tre and Benford and its best DE in Groot...then loses its best overall player in Milano and what had been the best DT in the NFL so far this year in Jones.  That is an excuse?

Guys who missed the game, exited the game, or had to miss plays in the game with injuries or other issues:

Tre, Benford, Groot, Milano, Jones, Von, Taron, and AJE.  I mean, that wouldn't be a terrible start to a pro bowl roster, and that is an excuse? And YET we still had only gave up 11 points until late into the 4th quarter.

    Come on...this thread is unreal

And again Tua did move the ball and there were a # of 4th downs they didn't convert.

Of course their performances against Howell, Wilson & Jimmy G were outstanding.

When out front and against under average QB's this is always the case with Buffalo's D.

Wait until they excel vs. Tyrod & Mac Jones and the superlatives that will be bestowed on them.

I think the defense played admirably given all the injuries.

    HOWEVER

We allowed 474 yards, 29 first downs, and 38 minutes TOP**. 1st asterisk for the offense playing poorly (especially early) which is a big factor in TOP. 2nd asterisk for the Jags drives being sustained by weak penalty calls.

If I'm grading the defense I'd give them a C-. The 5 sacks and 2 fumbles bring them up from a failing grade.

Again 474 yards was a gutsy performance according to many.  The fumbles were deep in Buffalo territory and were on third down.  Yes was a possible 6 points.

Would rather have stopped Jax on 3rd and 11 from their 5 & 7 yard lines that would have flipped the momentum, TOP and game.

You can't handwave injuries away, and the time of possession was skewed bad b/c a perfectly healthy offense couldn't move the ball.

A patchwork D missing two of their best players generated two turnovers in the red zone and kept the Bills in that game.

The Bills were an elite unit all season.  Tre goes down late last week, Milano early this week and all of a sudden the team has a harder time getting the other team off the field?  It's...*gasp*...almost like losing five defensive player actually makes a defense worse !

Anyone that argues otherwise...don't bother debating them.  They'd have to be incredibly dim not to see it, or they're willfully ignorant, locked into confirmation bias.  Either way, you're not going to change their mind.

Again explain the 3rd and long conversions inside the 10.  500 yards offence by Jax.  Yep they were great.

Defense was not why we lost yesterday.  Offense squandered all the mo by not double dipping at the start of the 2nd half.  Multiple catches for FDs dropped. Josh under throwing Stef twice took 2 tuddys off the board. The only player that showed up besides Stef and Josh was AJ Epenesa. D had 2 turnovers. On the field for 40 mins. Not the Ds fault.

Whose fault is it the defense was on for 40 minutes?

2 takeaways from the Jags when they were in the red zone.  5 sacks despite injuries.  The offense was a MAJOR issue.  (I'd still like a CB...Surtain II).

How did they get into the red zone?  The D let them there.  40 minutes time of possession is all you need to know. Always excuses and sorry A lot of it has to do because McDermott is the coach on that side of the ball now.

  11. Yep not Frazier so many are happy.

    Yes injuries too.

Yesterday they were not good, but get a pass.  Is this because of McD

40 mins top is on them.  But of course reading blame on the offence. They were not great the play calling was atrocious which seems to always be the case in close games but at the end of the day the defence was meh.....

They're good, but far from the juggernaut we always make them seem. No excuse for the offensive performance early. It's what lost us the game in spite of everything else

40 minutes TOP is unacceptable.  Of course because it is McD in charge some people here defend him.  Yes the Defence was shorthanded but too many 3rd down conversions (10-18).

However, not let Josh run and the dinks and dunks don't work in tight games.

    2021 all over again.

Josh is the key and let him play.

D played bend but don’t break. But overall gave up a ton of easy catches. Jax did not seem to be scared at all, the look slow and 25 points is actually the most they have scored the past 4 weeks.

O was just bad. Hard to know if it was the players or the scheme. They went with loss vs the jets strategy of constant shotgun draws and horizontal passes to the sideline getting 1 yd chunks. Penalties and drops came up again. Diggs beat his deep and both passes were thrown short. Just an overall bad showing across the board. To me though it starts with the scheme. Dorsey is just killing this O. Even when we are scoring it rarely looks easy, usually requiring crazy broken plays etc. Dorsey is here for a while so hopefully he figures it out. Easiest change would be to get under center more and see how it goes.

And was saying this even when winning.  The offense shouldn't look so laboured.

Hate those 30 yard passes to the sideline for a gain of 2.

Josh must have been too told not to run.

  14. No surprise as when the  Bills are rolling the dinks and dunks and moving the chains is great, but when from the second play of the game you could tell the Jags weren't going to allow the Bills to do that, time to use Josh to his full potential.

For some reason he is no longer running and defenses seem to know that.  Short passes pad the completion %, but the intermediate route is the Bills bread and butter

Lawrence and the Jags moved the ball and their offense looked crisp while even early you could see the Bills were lost on offense.

    With Allen, completely unacceptable.
