What is Clay doing 8 yards deep in the end zone?
Billsfan1972 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Go to the end and can see enough that there was plenty of time to adjust, no one within 20 yards and also can see 3 Bills in the back of the end zone. Also the third down pass to Zay was not PI and frankly should have too been caught. -

If that was the play call that again shows an incredible lack of foresight or coaching. -

The Bills had 2 timeouts (3 if not for the terrible challenge). They could have definitely used the clock better and getr a 2 for 1 (Basketball analogy) as they had the last possession of the first half and were getting the kick to start the second half. This is all about seeing what you have in Allen and figuring it out. Playing for 14-10 games with Allen is a waste of time. Now the 4th & two at midfield. A good coach either has a play and does a quick snap and looks like they are 100% committed or runs the play. You are trying to get the other team to jump or burn a TO. Everyone know McD isn't doing anything. -

Regardless, good coaching has receivers coming back to the QB on "busted plays/scrambles". No excuse for 3 receivers standing at the back of the end zone. -

And if caught today the Playoff questions would be where all the posts are. BTW what's wrong with Allen's arm that he couldn't throw cross his body 60 yards???? -

He threw it as far as he could. Think about a receiver running running 80 yards downfield and waving his hands that he's open..... That's exactly how stoopid I envision Clay.... -
Geez give your QB a shot. Actually 3 players were in the back, but when a qb is scrambling & not the last play of the game, you work your way back. The ball was in the air 3 second & Clay was incapable of moving 7 yards to catch the ball (wide open). As an earlier poster said that was a 60 yard throw by Allen. Sorry was not ready to read through the 10 pages on whether it was a drop or not. A real receiver easily catches it as he is moving back to be part of the play. BTW what were 3 Bills doing in the end zone on third & 11???

Please let me know which penalties called on the Bills were bad?
-
I thought the Bills again were undisciplined. Refs are to protect the QB and while none were blatant have seen them called. Miami too had a # of penalties a well. The problem is, you watch NE and you know they'll be some ticky-tack call that goes in theior favour and thus when the Bills don't get it, fans are left bewildered. Was it as terrible as those on the board think? No, but not great.

Bang on..... 17 points and the Bills moving the ball shows the issues that we'll see over and over. Great first 20 minutes vs. Min & NYJ and otherwise a slog every other game. Does it really have to be that way? -
Until we sort this officiating we are going nowhere

Penalties not called that would benefit the Bills is one thing (and yes a roughing the passer or PI could have been called). What is inexcusable is the 13 penalties the Bills were called for and all were legit. Undisciplined. -

Either you have confidence in your Offense or you don't. The Bills & McD have an obsession that if the Bills don't build a 21 point lead in the first 20 minutes, then play for a 3 point game. This is his Modus Operandi. -

No it was lousy game management. With the Dolphins sniffing around the goal, you try and keep time on the clock as you have to have confidence that your offense can get at least 3 points. Add to that the lousy challenge casting another time out and time to get a quick 5 yard out and have a 50 yard attempt is what teams work on. -

Bills Football.... McD always explains it's Buffalo's culture. -
Nice game but Allen needs to pass

:16 Thrown into coverage and broken up. I'd say a good receiver shields ball from the defender. 1:44 Came after 2 beautiful third down completions called back for holding and a 3rd and 25. Any throw to KB and can't be sure whether he had a chance to catch it in any case. 2:39 was a perfect pass, coverage was there, but too could have shielded the ball and hung on. 3:30 Was the worst pass of the game 3:57 there were 2 defenders and at best a short completion. Good job throwing it away. 4:04 Allen hit and not great timing but a 3rd & 14 and tried for the 1st down. I take it even if he goes 28-29, you'll find faults with the incompletion (as Rivers did Sunday) or where the ball was placed? -

Please stop...... This is a passing league & need to be able to do it consistently. Name me a bad offense that is thriving? -

Watched it and saw 2 bad passes and two others that could have been better. Otherwise all others seemed fine and his throwaways were perfectly fine too. Noted the one in the fourth after the 40 yard run and he rolled out, no one was open, and he did exactly what he should have done, throw it away. He made quick decisions and didn't have a whole lot of time. Sorry way too harsh if you think otherwise. -

And I blame it on McD & Daboll and the playcalling. Very good the first 20 mins and then lacking. The penalties killed them again, and yes 2-3 not great passes. However watch Brady and his incompletions and you'll too see a lot of terrible passes. The issue is the Bills again have too many negative plays or 2nd/3rds & long, which results in lousy situations. Not much movement on the line, separation by receivers and seem to have forgotten McCoy is a threat more as a pass catcher then runner. Cup half full or empty. Some always will see it half empty. -
Those were some overoficious jerks!

The Jags could have thrown a challenge and did not. Calls like that are missed, but regardless the facemask still happened and was a personal foul and would have stood. The TD was 50/50 in my view and was I also think on first down. Worst case it they have 2-3 more cracks. As said the most important call the entire game was the holding that cost the Jags 7 at the end of the third and was what changed the entire game. -

Really???? The biggest call of the game was the hold that negated the Jags TD @ 14-14 and eventual missed FG. That was too a ticky-tack call, unless a Bills fan and an obvious hold. -

Ohhhhh that's harsh!!!! Blame it again on bad pass routes & unimaginative play calls. Allen did the best that he could given the scheme. I will however confirm there were 4-5 bad passes, iffset by a number of nice ones. -

Two really nice third down completions were negated by penalties. Saw a few not so good passes too. Did he make progressions in his reads is hard to tell as the pocket broke down on a # of his runs. Need to still pass more on first down and positive yards, as many 3rd & longs still... Playcalling still an issue.
