I've read most of the replies and obvious that there are some who have hated Allen from day 1 and regardless of what he does will deride him. Have they watched the other rookies play and noted All22 analysis and whether they miss open receivers or make bad decisions? Doubt it, but Allen is under a microscope. A perfect example that was brought up was the Detroit game. Stafford graded better throwing dinks & dunks and having receivers winning 1 on 1 battles. However anyone who watched the game knows Allen was much better. Compare him to Lamar Jackson, who was not great vs. LA, but threw a nice TD, which should have been a 25 yard pass (missed tackles turned it into a 70 yard TD). I see way more bad passes from Lamar, but according to PFF a better rating. Has Allen thrown a shovel pass for a big gain? The stats say so little as running is not included. The redzone stat doesn't account for Allen's running, which has been crucial. The Bills receivers are incapable of winning battles or finding open space in tight areas too. Shady his best receiver has been nicked up too and that has affected Allen's rating. And playcalling is terrible too. Allen has a lot to learn and needs to have some simpler plays designed that are quick hits right at the snap. Wonder how much the narrative & #'s change if Allen completes just two passes: the pass to Clay vs. Miami (100% on Clay) and that bomb to Foster last week.

Has the light finally gone on for Zay Jones?

From the same marketing department that had the Nathan Peterman promotional video...... https://www.12up.com/posts/6166581-video-bills-post-embarrassing-nathan-peterman-hype-video -
What is a 50/50 ball? One that should be caught 50% of the time. Great receivers win 70% of those battles. I doubt the Bills have won 5%. As stated I'm not watching highlight packages, I'm flipping channels and see catches that no Bill is capable (or has made) of. Yep wasn't an easy catch for Thomas, but one we see made in the NFL (outside Buffalo). Foster is a nice find, but stop calling him a potential #1 as he has a long was to go. Adjusting to the ball once would be nice (the Foster play yesterday was an example of a player who saw the ball vs. a CB who didn't and couldn't adjust). Oh yea & Clay vs. Miami. Zay did vs. Miami, but as per the Bills, bobbled it and trapped it on the ground. Allen tried a touch pass and that resulted in the first INT (and maybe the second too). However though a garbage time TD, it was one nevertheless and we know Belichek was not easing up (he never does). A great TD play to Zay. Allen is a rookie and has a lot to learn, but without a single receiver tough to watch. Use the cap space and sign Tate, who is a tough receiver who knows how to get open. However here we'll read that the Bills paid too much and should have spent the money on the line or defence.

He was not bad. If he doesn't throw two lousy ints, I'd have said he was good. It was a meh performance, but not bad by any stretch. Playcalling too lacked imagination (nothing new). His TD, though garbage time again showed his athleticism. But again minimal separation by the receivers, dropped balls, no adjusting to the throw or shielding the defender. Too would like to see Allen take the easy 5 yard pass at times.

The point is, I just got back and turned on the game. This wasn't watching the whole game and picking out 5 random minutes. All the negative Allen comments stupify me as case in point as ho hum a game Allen played yesterday (and yes 2 bad Ints), he was much better then Brady. I watch Brees, Willson, Rodgers, Rivers and all the top QB's in the league miss receivers and make bad passes, but every incompletion by Allen is analysed and pointed out.

I know it is old and tired, but it is almost surreal. I watched 3 minutes of the KC/Seattle game and watch A great TD reception by KC & then Lockett and Baldwin make 2 catches on the clinching drive that no Bills made all season. All I ask is for the proverbial 50/50 ball to be caught, a leaping reception, a catch on what is not a perfect pass, an adjustment made and making that hard cut to the ball. I am just beside myself.

What's a common thread among recent Allen analyses?
Billsfan1972 replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seen enough of Allen to be excited about 2019. My concern is always the same and it is bad line, bad receivers and dislike the play calling and playing for a 17-14 game. So Sunday vs. NE, I expect the Bills as always to try and milk the clock and that affects Allen's potential. -

And the 14 points were aided in large part by two big PI's (43 & 23 yards). I really like Allen and defend him, but these receivers, the lack or separation, coupled with the terrible play calling and playing for 17-14 games doesn't help the development of the O. Forecast Sunday is perfect to work on Allen and the offense. Would be nice to see 28 points and playing for 4 quarters. -
13 dropped balls all season?????
Billsfan1972 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
How about watching all 32 starting QB's and what they get out of their receivers and the passes they throw. I'll give you a hint...... Not everyone is on the money. Allen's accuracy actually has really impressed me if I was to believe the draft experts. This was about the 13 dropped passes, but again look at the pass charts from the weekend. https://nextgenstats.nfl.com/charts/list/pass I just am appalled at the lack or support he gets from his receivers. -

It was in his hands in stride. Seeing the screen captions I understand some of the comments, but it was not a hard catch by any means and thrown with no one around him. BTW Allen threw a nice touch pass to Foster over the middle, again wide open, that was bobbled and challenged by Detroit. Another example of whether hard or a soft ball, any pass to a Bills receiver is an adventure. -

Not at all what I was saying...... I just want to see receivers catch 50/50 balls, which is as per the name a catch that is made 50% of the time. I want to see adjustments made on long balls (i.e. Clay vs. Miami), balls that hit them in their hands caught and less bobbles. The last 3 weeks there has been terrible receiver play. As per the top 100 catches.... Doubt they make the top 250. The point there was that there hasn't been a "wow what a catch" moment all year. -

I need a replay it looked as easy a catch as can be. It was about 8 yards past the LOS with him running in stride and no one near him. It was a drop in every sense of the word. Heck it could be a picture in the Dictionary under the word "Drop" from what I remember. -
http://hosted.stats.com/fb/tmleaders.asp?type=Receiving&range=NFL&rank=232 Where do they find these stats? I can't believe Zay hasn't alone dropped 13 balls this year. To illustrate how bad the statistic is, ESPN did not call Allen's pass to Clay vs. NYJ over the middle a drop..... Still looking for a replay as he was wide open with room to run and it was a perfect pass and an easy catch..... Heck Zay had two hit him in the hands too that game dropped.
