Josh Allen named AFC offensive player of the week
Billsfan1972 replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Watch the All22 yet? Still waiting for your analysis of the Foster catch, where you gave accolades to the catch (and "supposed" adjustment), not the throw. But heck maybe you too are coming around?? -
All Rookies QB's final stats and prorated to 16 games

OP is not an Allen fan. I haven't watched enough of the others, but saw Darnold play worse then Allen vs. NE in back to back weeks, which means little, but if an Allen fan you'll say he's much better then him. Jackson looks good, but I don't think he's a good passer, but again has a much better offense and team behind him. I too expect the Chargers to win on the weekend. Look how quick Goff went from looking like a bust to a star when they added a great coach and a receiving corp (and oh yes Gurley in the backfield). As I keep harping, wake me up when a Bill receiver actually makes a play to help his qb. -
THE ROCKPILE REVIEW - WHAT A MEAL!
Billsfan1972 replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well count me in as excited for 2019, albeit still concerned with the coaching on the offensive side of the ball. The fact one can be so positive and in retrospect realize that Allen's best passing game in terms of yards was 245 makes me wonder whether we as fans are just so starved here to see some offensive production. -
Surprise surprise, you show up in another thread to denigrate Allen..... Stick to your recaps..... We get it..... You aren't sold on Allen (I don't follow the draft closely, so let me guess you wanted Rosen or Jackson and thought this was a disastrous pick). I for one am excited about the Bills QB for the first time in ages and fingers crossed that the Bills recognize the travesty that is their offense and build one this year and that Allen will be a great QB. Here's to hope!

Okay then, why were you impressed with Foster and his TD catch (2 catches all game)? It had nothing to do with him, but running the right route and catching a perfect throw. Btw I agreed the int war a terrible but thought the first down call put them in a bad position and he made a lousy call and a rookie mistake.
-
Because you obsessed about the int, which while lousy was a result of the first down call being garbage and so conservative. The Foster TD was not a great catch by him it was a perfect read and throw by Allen. Yes a couple of bad slants, which he I hope will work on. 5 TDs is what I'd talk about & oh yes 97 yds rushing

How can you be negative on Allen? The int though his fault is bad coaching and playcalling. There was over a minute and Miami had timeouts. The first down play was garbage setting up the need to get a first down. The whole second quarter was classic MvD/Daboll play with the lead. Allen is dynamic and fun to watch. Things to work on but has me excited for the first time in ages. Obviously you're biased when you have to make a point of Foster's TD, when it had little to do with him and was a great pass by Josh. Btw Darnold folded vs. NE and Mayfield not fairing well vs. Baltimore

I've read most of the replies and obvious that there are some who have hated Allen from day 1 and regardless of what he does will deride him. Have they watched the other rookies play and noted All22 analysis and whether they miss open receivers or make bad decisions? Doubt it, but Allen is under a microscope. A perfect example that was brought up was the Detroit game. Stafford graded better throwing dinks & dunks and having receivers winning 1 on 1 battles. However anyone who watched the game knows Allen was much better. Compare him to Lamar Jackson, who was not great vs. LA, but threw a nice TD, which should have been a 25 yard pass (missed tackles turned it into a 70 yard TD). I see way more bad passes from Lamar, but according to PFF a better rating. Has Allen thrown a shovel pass for a big gain? The stats say so little as running is not included. The redzone stat doesn't account for Allen's running, which has been crucial. The Bills receivers are incapable of winning battles or finding open space in tight areas too. Shady his best receiver has been nicked up too and that has affected Allen's rating. And playcalling is terrible too. Allen has a lot to learn and needs to have some simpler plays designed that are quick hits right at the snap. Wonder how much the narrative & #'s change if Allen completes just two passes: the pass to Clay vs. Miami (100% on Clay) and that bomb to Foster last week.
