Lebatard admits he was wrong on Allen

love Dan & his shows....... I laugh and "get" the show, which is exactly what they expect of their audience. -
Josh Allen needs to run the ball more

Like when he threw to Diggs in triple coverage???? 😡 Seemed like he just didn't want to run at times when opportunities were there. -

Actually Russell has been pretty consistent wrt rushing. Yes earlier in his career more, but still a threat. Allen has fallen off a cliff. Just watching Allen it looks like he has been more tentative. -

The thing is he didn't really run vs. LA or LV.... If an injury, then I get it. If the Bills a neutering one of his strengths, that's another thing. -

The issue is you see Allen in the pocket and times he forced the ball as opposed to taking off. The point is he seems not to want to run or the Bills haven't maximized the opportunities. -

Simply I expect one 20 yard Allen run per game. Yesterday no one was spying on him, coverage was tight, often 8 men in coverage & Allen was a pocket passer. I've seen no scrambles. There were opportunities & this has been since week 2. Talking about it right now on WGR. -
Allen has stopped running??? Any reason
Billsfan1972 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not saying called runs, but some controlled roll outs or when protection breaksdown, run. Seems to be a little hesitent of late. Tannehill gashed the Bills & other QB's seem to be doing it more often, while Allen is doing it less. Yesterday is a perfect example, if only rushing 3 and dropping 8 then there should have been some lanes open. -

I thought I'd resuscitate my old thread as again vs. Tennessee he didn't run. Seems one of his greatest assets has been removed from his game. How Tannehill, Fitz, Wentz & a plethora of young QB's all seem to be evading the pocket and making big plays with their feet, Allen in the last three games has not. Not sure why this is happening. -
I was frustrate of the Defense first mentality and the Bills ranking 30,29 & 24th the first three years with McD, with little effort (as I saw it) toi address it, be aggressive on Offense and frankly do what every team is capable of annually to throw for 300 yards. McD did not do that once in 3 years and seemed over & over to talk about playing "field position & not turning the ball over". The Bills last had a top 10 offense in 2000 (#9). I said simply said & don't deny it, that the Bills were a very difficult watch particularly the past 3 years (and you'll say 2 playoff losses & I'll say 25-23 record) as they were so inept on offense.

After years (well pretty much 20) of seeing a much stronger defense then offense, the script is flipped. How often we'd actaully be happy the Offense made no mistakes, maybe generated two-three first downs and hopefully pinned the opposition deep with confidence that the Defense would do their job. Yesterday we were thrilled that the Defense could make a single stop. Tennessee converted 6 of 10 third downs (and one 4th down). Two punts the first half & one after a long drive the second half. Very unnerving and a different feeling when you are confident the Offense can perform & expect just 2-3 more stops from the Defense.

Josh Allen - week FIVE report card
Billsfan1972 replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
265 2 TD's, one bad Int 63% completion %..... Add to that long fields and only 2 possessions the second half. BTW when it comes to grades today, everything is inflated......😜 -
Josh Allen - week FIVE report card
Billsfan1972 replied to rayray808's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Again watch every QB in this league and you'll see plenty of bad passes. However Allen did not play well, but it was probably a B. The Bills Offense had the ball twice in the second Half (a terrible int and a TD drive). That was it. The Defense made Tannehill look like a HoF QB. Everything seemed off and it also seems that Allen is trying too hard to stay in the pocket and so few runs. How come Ryan (Tannehill or Fitz) now seem more dangerous running then Allen? Bad drops, some passes just a little off and may also have been some bad reads. However he also made some incredible throws too. Yep they missed Brown. BTW love a bad game where he throws for 265 yards & 2 tds..... -
Hello, resident Josh Allen "Hater" here to Report
Billsfan1972 replied to BigDingus's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The defense was just atrocious. The Bills had the ball 2 times the second half (minus the last 1:59).... An Int & a TD, followed by a fumble on the kickoff. Bad game all around. -
I dislike these threads & certainly eventually expected. The Bills haven't had a top 10 offense since 2009 (ranked 9). The last 20 years they have averaged 23rd. Finally an Offense to be excited about & then comes the "Old School" thread. Give me the K-Gun and a mediocre defense anyday over a top 5 defense and bottom 10 Offense year after year..... https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/buf/index.htm

Again missing the point. Who is 100% certain that he couldn't have been better last season. We're all on the same team, but you guys are blind in your loyalty to McD and seem to think he did everything right on a team at the very bottom of the league in offense in his first three years..... Pot calling kettle. I am the one saying I've been very happy with McD this year, and you continue to say McD was beyond reproach years 1-3 wrt offense and continue to argue that he got the most out of Allen years 1-2, which I disagree with. I also insist they could have done a better job talent wise that side of the ball. How much worse could the Offense have been.
-
And you guys just refuse to acknowledge, that the coaching staff to some extent may have held him back. That's what I say and you continue to look at the 25-23 record in the same vain as Bill Belichek's superbowl wins. 30, 29 & 24th Ranked Offense stinks!!!!!! And that too you refuse to acknowledge.
-
Again no one knows how differently things may have played out. I say I saw this in Allen all the time and posted countless times, especially with those who wanted the Bills to give up on Allen, that the issue was the Offense and that they just needed to let him go out and play and throw "caution to the wind" proverbially (not saying throw it 50 times, just more and in better situations). We all know & point out to Allen's fourth quarter comebacks and how many games have been won when Allen needed to produce. My point was this happened in the 4th, because more often then not they were conservative the first 3 quarters. How we continue to debate facts that aren't debateable i.e. Offensive ranking, passing yards, attempts & points scored by the offense astounds me. Yes we can debate we saw different things i.e. were receivers open, right reads, dropped balls, difficult catches, bad passes vs. good..... but the actual #'s are there and the Bills offense was terrible & I blamed it more on the coaching & playcalling then Allen. Sorry 4 games into 2020 & I am right. Again would 2019 Allen have played at the level of 2020 Allen..... No, but I certainly think his #'s could have been much better.

As opposed to many of you I do not watch tape (though will replay when necessary (as I do tape the games). I do not do deep dives into the draft or coaches, but will read up on them. I watch the game with two eyes & see the box score. This team under McD did not (or would not) throw for 300 yards in 3 years..... Every team did that every year (except the Bills who somehow managed to do it for 3 years, and next closes may have been a 19 game streak). The Bills Offense ranked 29, 30 & 24 the past 3 seasons. Keep repeating the mantra salary cap hell, low payroll, the process, making due with what you have & whatever else you want, but every outsider looking in would have the exact same opinion as me, however you guys are way smarter then everyone else. Bottom line is I have admitted McD is growing on me, I'm thrilled about the offense and excited this year. My point is I think they did hold Allen back more then necessary the first two years. Again look at Justin Herbert and how quickly he has adapted right out of the gate.
-
Actually he wanted to play field position. We saw that way too often. He had a tight reign on Allen & the offense. He seldom seemed to go for the jugualr. The team barely tried to score above 20 points. Anyone who didn't see that wasn't watching. I'll never forget the Bills getting the ball from the Steelers with 2 monutes left 'til halftime and their only goal was to get a first down & run out the clock. WHen they converted that third down, they celebrated as if they had scored a TD. It was pathetic & highlighted the coaching philosophy in 2019, play between the 20's, mistakes, milk the the clock and we'll hope the defense stops them.
-
No I state opinions and they have played out. Call it surface level all you want , however as stated I pretty much supported Allen from day one and said let's see the Bills be more agressive on offense and see if he flourishes or not. You guys are all so excited about a 25-23 record and give all the credit to McD, when the prior 3 years they were 24-24 with what you called terrible coaching. You see what you want to see & I see what I want to see, however I saw this version of Allen well before this season & was pissed the staff I think held him back. the Offense was ranked 30, 29 & 24 the first 3 McD seasons, and you seem pretty alright with that. I wasn't.......
-
Obviously I saw different. You & PFF saw the same thing. I saw dropped balls, receivers seldom making a contested or difficult catch, undersized receivers, bad play calling putting Allen in difficult situations..... Read my 100+ posts thinking Allen would flourish with good coaching & playcalling. Yep through four weeks in 2020, I am RIGHT!!!!!!
-
I saw this coming with Allen & read my 100's of posts saying so. Thus I guess I was right.....🤣 And much of Allen's improvement to me is better playcalling, sure hands, Diggs and a commitment to trust Allen & score points. The Pittsburgh game juxtaposes the difference between 2019 & 2020. And yes the last draft, Allen Singleterry & Knox..... And you can't grasp that my opinion (yes just an opinion) is that Allen was almost there last year and hamstrung by the playcalling and lack of confidence in him.

Good you drank the Koolaid...... Good for you..... Please name me other coaches taking over .500 clubs, who then explained to the fan base that theyt were going to regress from there? Maybe Mike McCarthy went to Dallas and sold Jerry Jones on that? The Bills according to many were in utter disarray under Rex Ryan, however they were a .500 team. Sorry that some "stoopid" fans expect the new coach to come in and improve a team record. ANd yes the Bills have made the playoffs twice, but their play on the field particularly the offensive side was lousy 2017-19.
