They were after week 4, but now not so much as people for the most part are meh about a 6-2 team that has not played well the past four weeks. I wish it was different, but it is what it is. Look at the stories going on..... WIlson and the 6-1 Seahwaks, Pitt undefeated, KC being KC, TB & TB, Brees and what exactly are the Saints, NYJ (ha ha ha), Dallas (what a disaster), Rodgers regressing, Baltimore and has the league figured out Lamar, Arizona & is Kyler a star, Burrow, Herbert........ I want the Bills in thew spotlight and hope that changes the next two weeks.

And Jerry Hughes interecpted a batted pass last week. The defense was shredded as NE moved the ball effortlessly the second half and an unfortunate fumble cost them a chance to tie or win the game. Yes the Bills won and no style points, but boy wouldn't it have been nice if the Bills actually took care of business and beat them convicingly as they should have on paper???? If it was not NE, the spread for a 5-2 team vs an injury decimated weak, reeling 2-4 team would have been 6.5 minimum. -
7 drop vs. 54 receptions is a drop rate of 11.5% (7/61).... That is not good. Here is 2019 (though drop % based on targets and Diggs is then 8.9%, still not good) https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/2019/receiving_advanced.htm

Not sure if Gabriel Davis' was considered one vs. NE, but saw the Bills have 18 drops this year. Diggs has 7 alone. https://www.foxsports.com/nfl/buffalo-bills-team-stats?category=receiving&sort=rec_yyds&season=2020&seasonType=reg&sortOrder=desc The first four weeks they seemed to catch everything & seems the last 4 weeks has been suspect.

Yep two bad decisions, but having the ball inside the 20 with 30 seconds to go & a chance to win, tells me he outcoached/schemed McD. -
ROCKPILE REVIEW - Just Another Patriots Game
Billsfan1972 replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am an Allen fan & thus unequivocally blame it on McD and a change in philosophy. When things go well this team is fun to watch, but then they too go into a shell and it seemd the first four weeks they had figured it out. Tennessee the int on the first possession tahnks to a drop and the team mentally didn't recover. Three & out vs. KC when Brown drops a third down pass right between his #'s and then the O stalls. I see this too often from McD. He thinks his Defense will create turnovers, bail them out, come up with stops and has regressed to playing the game between the 20's. Sure the run was working vs. NE, but only 18 passes in a tight game???? Could you imagine Mahomes, Wilson, Rodgers or any great QB and only 18 passes in a game where you never led by more then 7? That is McD. Sure windy so maybe no long passes, but they haven't thrown long much at all since week 4. And we've seen plenty of drops too. -

So again someone in the National Media questions the Bills and people are upset. I'm upset the Bills didn't put it to rest and barely won a "home" game vs. a vastly inferior short-handed team. But they won and that I guess is all that matters. The first four weeks it was PFF & "Highly Questionable" with Dan Lebatard, Bomani & Yates and after week 4 & Dan turned the corner famously on Josh Allen, only to have the coaching staff regress in his development & playcalling these last 4 weeks. The Nation Media is going to look at Buffalo as Meh, until they really show something. I hope that comes this week and in the form of a highly entertaining, high scoring game vs. Seattle, where Allen & the Offense play like weeks 1-4. Follow that up with a convincing win vs. Arizona, and then see the narrative change. Bottomline the Bills beat NE, which is all that counts (and TB beat NYG and expect the Media to question TB), but talking about the Bills as a serious contender or a very good team will not happen based on the last four weeks. That to me is on McD. -
Are our WRs not getting separation? Or is it Allen?

Blah blah blah blah blah...... Seems other teams are able to adapt and Wilson, Brady, Rodgers, Mahomes...... are able to still put up #'s as pass heavy teams. It is coaching still that I question. 18 passes vs. NE..... Not enough and will frustrate players after a while. Just like second half adjustments that seem to stymie the Bills..... -
And I'd put the Bills right there too, but McD still seems to not understand that and has not adapted since week 4. Now it is vanilla offense, a lot of underneath and allowing the other team to dictate the play. And I disagree.... We finally saw a peak as to what it can be and again McD has not helped the past 4 games. 18 passes yesterday in perfectly okay weather. They tried all of one long pass (and that was too at the wrong time).

Would be nice to see the Bills go out and assert themselves vs. the worst Defense in the NFL (and another below average one too). BTYW Arizona is only so high because they played Dallas (Andy Dalton), NYJ & Washington. https://www.espn.com/nfl/stats/team/_/view/defense/table/passing/sort/netYardsPerGame/dir/desc However I expect McD to play it close to the vest and try and control the clock, because as opposed to the opponent being scared of the Bills offense, the Bills will be scared of their offense. That is his modus operandi.
-
I've always said I think the Bills offense is much better and has been held back by coaching and bad play calling. I have been a huge Allen fan and saw all the potential and continually blamed it on "play close to the vest" McD for frankly holding him and Bills offense back. The last 4 weeks are disconcerting and the Offense has regressed. No stretching the field and trying to manage the game vs. asserting themselves. And since I am so negative, I'll tell you..... NE, Miami, Denver, Seattle or Arizona, LAC, SF. I am a Bills fan & an optimist.
-
I'd be thrilled that the Offense has not slowed down one bit all season. I'd be however very concerned about the Defense, that has been a hot mess since day 1. There is a difference vs. the Bills #3 ranked 2019 defense being lousy and somehow the Offense that was top 4 weeks 1-4, nowq is regressing.

I don't say the sky is falling & never have. What I do question and have many times is McD's coaching and asking why can't we bury some opponents. A sad note the Jets are 0-8. Outside a competitive game vs. Denver (lost by 9), their two closest games were vs. The Bills -
Asking for opinions and explaining the dichotomy we see how people responded to yesterday's game. If the Bills are a mediocre team talent wise, that was a greta victory. As a vastly superior team to the Pats, it was a disappointing performance (and forget it was the Pats and that the Bills were playing a battered reeling 2-4 team instead).

At least we can agree on something...... -
I think they are a very good team. That is what I saw from the offense weeks 1-4. I expected improvement on the D. This is exactly why I (and others) post what I do, because I think this is the Bills year to go 11-5 (or 12-4). But maybe I'm not right & this is an average team playing above their heads and the coaching staff doing a great job and maximizing their potential. Seems anytime people post expecting more, they are drowned out by 6-2 and that they've met or exceeded expectations. BTW I'd much rather be right about them being a very good teram, then coaching being responsible for taking an again average to below average team to a better record then their personal befits.

They didn't need to throw the second half (6 passes).... Threw for 277 vs. NE. So then you're saying that SF ran for more yards against a stacked box too..... Sucking & Blowing at the same time...... Geez. How about a convincing win at home against an inferior opponent? -
Postgame Thread Bills vs. Patriots

Seattle & Arizona are terrible defensively. No reason outside McD that Josh shouldn't have 300+ vs both (and 30+ points). -

Other teams seem to be able to throw. Heck the week beore the 49'ers did (and ran too) vs. the Pats. A balance is fine and that usually means more passing yards. Typical excuses and crediting BB, istead of questioning McD. The Bills should have won by 10+.
