ROCKPILE REVIEW - Just Another Patriots Game
Billsfan1972 replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And look at my thread after week 4, when I said I turning the corner on McD...... Yep it was primarily due to the Offense actually performing to what I thought they were capable of. The last 4 weeks I've thought instead of asserting themselves the Offense played passive (take what they give you mentality). I hope that changes this week. -

Yep & you are the same people who were happy with McD from day one & are not wavering. I will repeat fro Teef's sake😜 2014-16 24-24 and 2017-19 25-23...... The teardown that they explained was needed, not all of us bought..... Keep repeating that line and eventually you'll believe it. None of us had a crystal ball and can say for a fact how 2017-19 would have played out under a different coaching staff, different moves, different philosophy. But keep repeating "The Process, The Process, The Process"...... -
I will disagree as I am an optimist on everyone except KC. Pitt is really making many mistakes and have been lucky a few games. Tenn is like us, good, not great & Baltimore if they're behind, they too are in trouble. Again I'm high on the Bills once the coaching improves. The losses (and last 4 games) show their deficiencies.

Building always is a buzzword to give us time..... I get it. However this is year 4. 2017-19 had the same record as 2014-16 so sorry as a simpleton that means they are pretty much the same. Yes two playoffs and 2019 the Bills had a cupcake schedule. I expect much more now. Building is just a cheap excuse now. -

About as annoying as you finding my posts and heckling.... Add oldmanfan..... You guy's have so little expectations of the Bills. Sorry I think bigger and watch games to be excited and come away exhilerated. Must be something about 1987-1995, when the Bills were a lot of fun to watch, the Offense one of the best, most dynamic in the league and a defense that had name players..... -

How many times are you going to repeat Winning is difficult..... We get it. Until this year (and we'll see how the season plays out), the Bills seldom blow out teams, are blown out a fair bit of times, struggle to beat teams they should & have in the three years with McD, beaten 5 teams with records over .500 (and I think 3 playoff teams). I don't expect blowout wins the next two weeks. I'd like to see wins, entertaining games & the Offense be more like weeks 1-4 (not 5-8). I have little expectations from the defense against these two teams. If also you want me to pick specific playcalling vs. NE, I'd say deep in our zone third quarter, 1st down lined up to run & NE knew it & a conservative call & 2 yards. Second down in according to most blustery conditions a long pass incomplete & then a throwawy on third. Kick, short field & NE scored. To me that first down play set the tone. -
When I turn on ESPN, or any radio station in the car, or watch TV on Monday, like most Fans I want to see my team talked about. Sorry WGR doesn't cut it for me. Yep it was fun watching Highly Questionable, Around the Horn or PTI..... and the Bills discussed (vs. NE or GB, NO, TB, Cowboys, KC, Balt and the usual suspects). I'd say that is a normal reaction. I don't like the way the Bills have played the last 4 weeks and surprise, neither has the National Media and thus they've cooled on them.

Shaw66 I really do like your reviews and you do have an innate understanding both sides of the ball. Where we continue to disagree on is coaching. I know you won't convince me as I am stubborn, but I just am not thrilled with McD's coaching and as I've stated everywhere. As happy as I was with the coaching & Allen the first 4 weeks, the last 4, I've seen regression and a lot of old habits and playcalling from the coaching staff. The defense is an issue, but I won't question that side now. What has McD & Dabol done in your opinion that really gives you confidence in their scheming and playcalling going forward? Do you not also not expect a huge offensive performance the next two weeks, based on how weak Seattle's & Arizona's defenses are and if not does that not concern you? -

Allen has been fine. Coaching & playcalling to me has been very suspect. -
This again goes back to McD & a false sense of security about the Defense, which was ranked very high the past two years, but also were recipients of weak schedules & bad teams. Last year name a top flight passing Qb they faced (Tom Brady with a weak receiving core, Lamar not a great passer, Dak who threw for 350).... It actually was just horrible, which resulted in overestimating their ability, and now are seeing what probably was always there. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/buf/2019.htm

How about 2 wins vs. one of the worst offenses in the league NYJ, another vs. NE coming off games they scored 10, 12 & 9 poiints and moving the ball at will vs. Buffalo. Yes good offenses with KC, LAR & Tenn, two of which gashed them on the ground and the third scored at will (yes some short fields, but converted every time).

So Buffalo...... No player on the Bills wants to be recognized on a national stage? No I picture Josh in the huddle "Guy's let's get 2 first downs & then we can punt and keep this game in the teens for Coach McD...... Break!" This was exactly some US players' mentality coming to the NBA and being traded (or drafted) by the Toronto Raptors and then bemoaning the fact that they weren't mentioned on ESPN. Surprisingly that changed quickly as the Raptors became one of the top teams in the NBA and got more & more National Press. Doesn't hurt either that Toronto is a great city with outstanding entertainment district, downtown & nightlife (Pre-Covid-19). Oh & Allen wants to throw for 400, Diggs have 180 yards receiving....... Singletary & Moss would too be thrilled with 75 yards rushing & another 50 receiving too..... Players want to be recognized beyond Hamburg or West Seneca.....😜

No I said I was very happy & turning the corner on McD. The last 4 weeks I've seen a regression and the old McD, that I've railed on continually. To keep coming up with excuses that others have figured the Bills out, says one of two things. 1. The staff (& McD) have not adapted (seen this too often in the third quarters over the past years). 2. Josh Allen is not the answer. I hope it is #1, or the Bills are in trouble.
-
And playing two terrible defenses the next two weeks. I am not that smart, but good offenses are able to consistently put up #'s regardless of the opposition & the Bills were not playing elite defenses the past four weeks and failed for the most part. Again I blame that on McD & the coaches. Refuse to accept that. It's the coaches that hjave let him down.
-
I've not started a single thread prior to today or linked a national thread. I've commented on many. But we do know Bills fans are much smart (you in particular) then the rubes who are in the national spotlight. How can a team stop everything the Bills do so easily and turn Allen into a game manager????? Sounds like McD talking. Here we go again, manage the clock, play within the 20's and don't make mistakes. If they come out trying to establish the run and time possession..... Ughhhhhhh The Bills are playing the worst defense in the NFL this week, No excuses to not sling it & put up 35+....
-
No it is important to others. Outside today have I started a thread, posted a link or a story concerning the National Media and the Bills? Today I posted an observation. I do like when they talk about the Bills & it is fun. Much more in teresting then local coverage I can assure you. Get your facts straight.
-
I was going to give you a thumbs up, but I highlighted where we disagree. Two losses & they are pretenders, no ifs, ands or buts..... The only people it affected (pressure) was the Coaching staff, who were not great in the game. Allowing the NE Offense to move the ball effotlessly the second half. Their first drive the second half was 32 yards & then they went TD, TD & 65 yards (fumbling on the 14). Like a hot knife through butter.

Chris Simms on Bills-Patriots
Billsfan1972 replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm sure they are concerned. However too they have the sewcond best point differential in the NFL +82, vs. the Bills -1. Sunday night will be their litmus test (rematch with NO). -
Other QB's & moreso OC's figure it out. This is on Dabol. When Defenses adjust so do Offenses. I hate these stupid takes. I can't stand either how it is always Buffalo needing to adapt & slow to do so.
