Trying to keep excitement in check....
Billsfan1972 replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And that's what makes the next 3 weeks interesting. This week you want to win because you are heading into a bye and then coming out of it you want to keep the momentum going and beat a statistically inferior team. -
I remember I had turned the corner and was so up for Tennessee and KC, only to be let down. NYJ & NE were wins, but again concern as to the coaching and reverting to old habits. Seattle & they played as close to perfect on offense and did exactly what I've stated over & over here. Now comes Arizona, another weak defensive team with a dynamic QB & offense & want to see no let down again. I actually was very confident vs. Seattle as soon as the first drive & the obvious game plan. Sort of zen throughout the game and little nervousness as to the outcome. Hope for tweaks this week, but am nervous nonetheless, as I made the mistake of getting ahead of myself (and my Bills fandom) after week 4.

Diggs' trade is aging like a fine wine
Billsfan1972 replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What we haven't seen yet is the deep ball. Wasn't Diggs supposed to catch more long balls. In looking at his stats he already has matched his 2019 #'s of 63 catches, but averaging 12.9 vs. 17.9 last year. Seeing 10 targets a game, which matches 2018, where he averaged only 10 yd/rec. All trnding well & he should be happy.... -
Well Flacco has thrown for 194 in one half & Buffalo was too scared of the Pats secondary last week. Someone forget to tell Gase?

Whatever..... Missing the point & use repeating it. The thread on passive interviews, was that I see it played out in games over & over with McD. Yesterday to saw a different McD & praised him & the coaching staff. Go back & watch your game film & all-22's, I just watch the games, play calls and the results and post what I see & thoughts. Yesterday was I hope an "aha" moment.

I want to be entertained (if I wasn't, I wouldn't watch football). Some times there will be losses & yep I stated when they lose I'd like to see some where they put up a fight on offense. The fact the team was incapable of throwing for 300 yards for McD's first 3 years was a concern (show me another coach or team that went as long in this modern era). There were as stated also many lopsided losses, very few wins over teams with records over .500 (5 only 2017-19 and 3 vs. playoff teams) & an offense ranked 30th, 29th & 23rd were just some of my concerns. As said though I am quite happy this year, but have seen a few things that are concewrning, but they did pretty much everything I thought they could/should on Sunday.

I used Fitz just as an example of a veteran place holder not a full season option. Who cares if Peterman won the competition, he was not going to be the Bills QB for years to come. I thought when you have no starter, then you go with the #7 overall pick. With Mahomes, regardless you had an above average starter who put up #'s. However the point was KC made the decision with Mahomes (again replaced a QB that the prior year went 10-6, over 4,000 yards, 26 TDs/5 Ints).

And I had a thread that said just that after week 4, and then admit it we had a 4 week regression. As for the FO I never question or post on acquisitions. I only questioned their dismantling of the offense in 2017, which btw ranked right at the bottom of the league the prior 3 years. You don't hold McD at all responsible for that?
-
An emphatic NO..... They showed their pigheadedness by naming Peterman the starter in 2018 (a proven qb like Fitz would have made much more sense). This is the old adage that we've heard over & over defending McD and his decisions & I disagree with them. I read the same things, however they drafted him and were prepared to have him sit behind Peterman for how long? They were incredibly lucky week 1 was Baltimore & Peterman went 5-18 24 yards, 2 Ints & 2 sacks or his development would have been slower. Where we are now I'm excited about.

Is the weather really an issue for our passing attack?
Billsfan1972 replied to Ramza86's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No the coac hing staff get's scared and then creates a games plan based on those conditions. Is it tougher to pass? Yes. Should one abandon the strength of the team when there's 15 mph winds and a few drops of rain? No..... -
You are the worst type of troll, following people and exaggerating comments and the inability to let go. Let me explain it again. The Bills as much a fan as I am, generally the prior three years played for the most part very dull boring football. They had a 25-23 record, were outscored badly in 2017-2018 and were ranked 30,29 & 23 on Offense. 2019 was an improvement, but also an easy schedule. The didn't throw for 300 yards the first 48 games under McD. If not my team, I would not have wanted to watch them. I want to be exhilerated watching a football game and excited by the action on the field. Yep the defense was good in 2019 (aided by a weak schedule), however the feeling often was "Don't make a mistyake on offense, we're going to be ultra conservative, and want to keep the game in the teens". Anyone thinking that was not the case, is kidding themselves. It was an honest take.
