The Bills Aren't a Top-Tier Team Yet
Billsfan1972 replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When playing a team that you are considered on par with (and Cards were favoured), yes you expect a close game (though would like to win handily). However when playing an inferior team, yes you want to win handily. Chargers, 49'ers & Broncos, yes you want to show you are the better team. -
Saints to start Taysom Hill over Jameis Winston

Not with the line & receivers they started him with. I just hated the conservative play calling through McD's first three seasons, and we know his eye for offensive talent (i.e. Peterman)......😉😜 -

Called an opinion. Seeing what Payton accomplished with Hill in his first start further tells me that McD's philosophy held him back. Also see Justin Herbert.... Again jmho..... -

What is it with you & The Process? How about just winning. I like your breakdowns and keen eye, but the Kool-Aid you drink from McD...... Sheesh!!!! -

We know your defense of Lamar..... Hill did not even attempt a pass in the 4th quarter, thus was well on his way to 300 through 3. Talk about looking for excuses. I don't know how good he is (or can be), but for one game he was better then good..... Atl has played a very tough schedule and some of the best QB's in the NFL..... What does coaching have to do with it..... Oh yea, if the Bills had Payton, their offense and Allen would be better (and much better in 2018 & 2019 too)..... Yes in McD we trust.....🤩 -

What a load..... Did nothing wrong (I guess he did fumble) and went up and down the field. Looking for negatives..... Geez reminds me of how people judged a certain Josh Allen the first two years. -

Yes appreciate the math lesson....😜 Want to see more though. I don't want to be relying on a Cam Newton fumble on the 12, a pass interference on fourth down, an int vs. NYJ in the last 2 minutes or knocking down a hail mary to end games..... -

There are no "top-tier" teams, except maybe KC. All have flaws and weaknesses, but pretty much it is about QB play and coaching to your strengths and not making stupid mistakes. The Bills continues to be they want to play to their opponents level and seems close games week after week. Again the next two weeks will be telling as again these are teams they need to win by 10+ and then Pitt.... I'm a sucker because I believe in Allen, but coaching still has me concerned. -

I saw no reason that he couldn't either. Most here seemed quite skeptical.... -

Yes I did.....18-23 (one drop) for 230 (225 through 3), 50 yards rushing & 2 TDs (another called back)..... You're really nit-picking to find fault. -

And that is solely on coaching. 18 pass attempts vs. NE, scared to attack vs. KC & Tenn....... Some can be blamed on weather, other on coaching/playcalling. Here's the stats..... https://www.espn.com/nfl/stats/player/_/table/passing/sort/passingYards/dir/desc -

Sorry I still am not sold on the Steelers. Look at their schedule. I will put KC on a different level and that is it. Again it is all about game planning & coaching. -

Some people just hate to admit they were wrong..... 78% completion % (including a drop), 50 yards rushing & 2 TD's.... Yet some find fault in it..... Wow.... Proper coaching, weapons around him, good position to be in, not sure why anyone is surprised. -
The End of the Lamar Jackson Era

What is interesting is that they now make excuses for Lamar and give him the benefit of the doubt. This was something Josh never got. Thankfully he has a great TE. -

Has an NFL MVP fallen so fast so quick. He's an okay QB at best. -

You don't like him.... I get it.... Again were you a Peterman fan? First game 2 TD's, 77% completion %, 225 yards to date, one dropped TD, another bomb TD called back by penalty. What more do you want? -

He's no Peterman. Obviously like many on TSW, people have made their minds up about him and want to see him fail. Looks like an NFL QB to me. -
Fair, but as I've stated also, we see less long balls and completions there. Just a minor quibble, that I'm watching.

I only listened to the Allen part and it was very fair. As for Murray, outside the Hail Mary, I thought his best quality is his elusiveness. Thought his passing was so so at best. My concern(minor) with Allen is that he does seem a little hesitant of late and not as freewheeling as before.

It was the game changing calls that changed the flow of the game. The two I have pointed too, changed the game immensely. Two first downs & 55 yards. Other are just calls that happen in a game, some right, some iffy & some wrong & others missed. A perfect example was vs. Beasley illegal contact vs. Seattle. Was on a third down, negated a sack, was the right call and resulted in a subsequent TD.
