Norwood Jersey for Old Dad?
Thrivefourfive replied to Norwood for Wall of Fame's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This brings up an idea.... Bills should have a Scott Norwood jersey shirt game vs the Jets. Everyone in the stadium would be wearing the #11 Norwood jersey. Talk about huge national recognition for a first class town. Lift Scotty up, as many times as humanly possible. -
Raiders looking to move to Las Vegas?
Thrivefourfive replied to mellaman101's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You guys have been there, right? NFL players in Las Vegas will be a complete circus. But hey, do it right, and they should be able to party, legally for the most part. But I'm afraid, there will be an increase in crazy DUIs, and hard drug charges. There's just too much, ALL the time. City don't sleep, and neither will these football players. They play hard, and live hard. I know one thing, the Vegas ladies of the night will take full advantage of their opportunities with these athletes. -
Very true. For the show, everything has to stop after the murders though. It just gets too bizarre, especially when Juice speaks on camera. But before that, it's great stuff. The big problem with the show would be that you can't interview Uncle Juice at all. A Football Life is all about current interviews, unless the guy has passed, like Lyle Alzado.

Rex and RGIII together. Nothing could go wrong there. RGIII doesn't get it, and probably will never get it at this stage of his life. He thinks he's the smartest guy in the room, and he has an attitude problem. That's not a good formula for what he needs to become. He tore the Redskins locker room to pieces. Quarterbacks have that power. About his talent...he was considered a guy that would be pocket passer coming out of Baylor, not just a running quarterback. Now, Bryce Petty is a developmental project, out of the same system! Shanahan was right...he wanted Cousins, not Griffin. But he coached up the owner's favorite son and made the playoffs. Cousins lives.

Man, they do a good job on this show. Well directed, well produced, and well narrated. They can get a little cliche at times, but considering the crap that is on tv these days, this is a good show. What Bills player do you want to see the most, taking into account that you learn a lot about their childhood background and locker room personality? p.s. After watching the episode on Terrell Owens, I hope he never gets in the Hall. He just doesn't get it.

Why Rex is a "player's coach". Reason revealed
Thrivefourfive replied to Thrivefourfive's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'll choose to see the positive. -
You're going to kick yourselves for not realizing this sooner. The real reason Rex is considered a player's coach goes back a few years. When he first started coaching, he had a nasty rule that he needed to trash in order to get the true love of his players. Now, he absolutely has it figured out! Ready for it?....Rex doesn't make is players play football in mid January, late January, and even early February!! Have you seen it out there...it's difficult! Some places are cold. Tough decisions have to be made by coaches. And my God...players actually have to be clutch!! And the pay...forget about it - it stinks!!! So Rex has won over his players by avoiding that mess. "Nope boys," Rex tells his guys. "The playoffs are for suckers!! Follow me to the first week of January, and then relax on your couches and watch those idiot playoff teams on your gigantic TVs. Life is good."

Lawrence Phillips Found Dead in Prison
Thrivefourfive replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I live in the area where he went to high school(s). A high school office secretary I know said he was always sitting in a chair outside the principal's office. With NFL size in HIGH SCHOOL, he kept bouncing around the area and wearing out his welcome. One school that couldn't handle him was a perennial national contender, Bishop Amat, known for elite future NFL running backs. This is just crazy that he had such a physical gift, but at the same time, the inability to utilize and profit from it and to keep himself out of trouble. -

The Bills need the best backup quarterback they can find. TT will get hurt next year, and he will miss games.

"It was almost as if God said to Nicklaus, 'You will have skills like no other,' then whispered to Palmer, 'But they will love you more.'" - Sorry, not sure who. But it's great if you know golf.

"Did dis dude dus do dis?" John Starks commenting on Reggie Miller's 8 points in 10 seconds at MSG in the playoffs.

Wondering what's going on with him? Yesterday he didn't look good - like he'd been up for days; and today he's speech is altered. Hope it's nothing serious. Bad news - Mortenson diagnosed with throat cancer. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/14577195/espn-senior-nfl-analyst-chris-mortensen-throat-cancer-taking-sabbatical-treatment

He proved again why he wins more than everybody
Thrivefourfive replied to Thrivefourfive's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Game. Game. Game... He didn't care about winning the game as much as winning a championship! I tell you!! I just know it!! Now if Bill would just come on here and straighten this whole thing out, we'll see that the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. But one thing is for certain, nobody here is as smart at football as Bill Belicheck. He's got more football intelligence in his little Super Bowl ring wearing pinky than you do. -
Bill Belicheck made a statement to his team when he decided to throw the defense on the field in overtime against the Jets. He told them that they've got more work to do than the offense in the grand scheme of things. He didn't make the right call to win that game. He made the right call to win a championship. By choosing the defense, Belicheck told his team that it's more important that they get experience in a pressure cooker. He trusts Brady in that situation more than he trusts his defense. Brady and the offense don't need the practice as much as the defense. Belicheck put them out on the field in the near perfect simulation to a big spot in the playoffs and/or ultimately the Super Bowl. And it truly was genius. Belicheck knows more about coaching in the NFL than probably any man alive. He might know more about it than any man ever has. He's laughing you. The New York media makes headlines insisting that he screwed up. The joke is on them. Do you really think he's worried about beating the Jets in week 16 with a 12-2 record? Do you think he doesn't know that the Bengals and Broncos were going to do him a favor the next night? If the Broncos win, which is probably what he figured - they have more on the line, and the AJ McCarron era was going to be meet by a very good defense that was playing for keeps - then the Patriots would control their own destiny for homefield advantage. Even if the Bengals won, they may have to play at Cincinnati in the AFC Championchip game. Who would you pick in that one?? Yeah, Bill too. The Hoodie is not going to reveal that he had bigger plans in his decision than just the Jets game. That would be mentioning things that could take place weeks from now. We know he doesn't do that. He said what he needed to after the game. And the media and fans ate out of his hand once again. Do you really think there is anybody on the planet that better understands winning Super Bowls?? Let alone people in the Media? So he lost the game. He honestly couldn't care less. He saw the big picture and prepared his team for what's ahead. He knew the opportunity that lay before him and he capitized in it, in a way that once again reassures that he's peerless. He knows all. He sees all. And everyone in that organization is a lucky SOB, cause my money will once again be on Belicheck and Brady against the field in the upcoming tournament. Odds are they will be the most prepared because of things like what he did for them in the Jets game. The real in game practice session was on the Jets time, and nobody even knows it. Priceless.

Going forward, and I'm generalizing here, an NFL roster for defense is more likely to have athletically brilliant/mental midgets, than smarts guys who are physically gifted. The offense can be a little different - it's more thought out, and defense is reactionary. With free agency and quick turnover in this league, the Bills are better off playing the odds, and syncing the scheme to their roster. If Buffalo ever wants to pull off winning consistently with a solidified front office and head coach, they need to start winning at some point to gain credibility among the players. Then they can pick players that fit a scheme, but still, adjustments need to be made year to year based on personnel and injuries. Troy Brown (PERIOD) All of that is probably beyond Rex's scope. I just don't understand how anyone can look at Rex and his family's coaching history and "Peg" him as the guy that should be leading this thing. The worst thing that ever happened to the Ryan family was/is becoming the HBC. They aren't cut out for it.
