Can we really judge Bass in Sunday's weather?
Thrivefourfive replied to DeepPass's topic in The Stadium Wall
Let’s do the golf comparison. I believe it’s valid. A good golfer (very good, great, pro) will hit soft/hard punch shots with lots of shape all day long in Rich Stadium equivalent weather. Of course a bad day is expected, but they shoot very good scores playing a completely different style of golf more times than not. It’s easy, it’s low, it’s short, it’s controlled, it’s more about feel and conditions. It’s a joy to witness. A lesser good player who quickly finds out they’re not so good (ask me how I know this one) when on a new course, in bad weather, on a different continent. I couldn’t handle it, but I learned a lot. If Bass can’t kick in bad weather, he’s no good anymore. I’m not happy about it. But we should not be even be questioning our kicker in ANY conditions. We should be saying, and only saying, cool… our kicker can handle it, and their kicker might struggle at OP. If Bass is struggling, wouldn’t we fry McDermott..?? -
Week 1 - Cardinals at Bills - Game Week Thread
Thrivefourfive replied to BillsFan619's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Cardinals stink yet?? What’s the #1 question you want an answer to after tomorrow’s game? I want to know if Coleman can play in the NFL. -
You know you’re a fanatic bills fan when…

I do this and I live 6 hours away, by plane. -
Rewatching the perfect offensive game vs NE. Diggs was in much better shape then. He’s a guy that couldn’t afford to get heavier at all, and he did. His ego isn’t going to like what his body tells him is going on. There will be no Hall of Fame for Stephon Diggs

McDermott will judge him. Bass is around to be his first scapegoat of the season. -
I knew the toe was going to take the cake around NFL media today. The real story of the Ravens was Jackson missing touchdown throws, and honestly.. the thing more puzzling is how he continues to call his team into bad plays. Slow developing play action on a jail break run blitz.. pshhh Based on MVPs, you’d think Mahomes and Jackson have been the only two QBs in the NFL the past half decade. Oh, gotta barf on Colinsworth when he says IN THE FIRST HALF! that Lamar is “competing his tail off tonight!” baaarrrrfffffff

The chatter around the Worthy trade isn't rational
Thrivefourfive replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
24 hours after that I’ve reached a higher level of frustration. The Chiefs turn everything to gold and the Bills are too dumb to spot top end talent AND COACHES. Andy does the offense, 3x champ Spagnuolo does the defense, 4x champ Them, Mahomes, that tight end who helped ruin TV chiefs, Jones, Hill, Rice, Worthy, McDuffie… Araiza … I’m done. The Bills started this era at the same time as them, abouts. Mahomes threw 50 touchdowns when Josh was a rookie. It was over before it ever began. The frustration is because the gap is growing wider. Like Bill Elliott Daytona 500 pulling away. -
Lets win the Super Bowl thought Exercise
Thrivefourfive replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
Got one, Brady over McNabb…. haha One more, Eagles McNabb over Eli as the better QB. But in a playoff game, I’d take Eli no matter what. So don’t think your argument holds on that one? So this is really what worries me. Allen in five years will be a worse QB than he is now. If he wasn’t a bruiser, who rushed for 15 freaking touchdowns in a season, I’d safely give him more time. But NOTHING has been said or done to prove against a shorter shelf life for Allen. Mahomes is going to be around longer. And Reid won’t leave until the last possible season. He knows he has it made with Mahomes, and he’s proven that deaths, prison, and family crime won’t slow down his career. One iota. The concern: if Allen isn’t has close to Mahomes—right now—as we need him to be, WE ARE SCREWED. I need to believe that Allen is good enough to win with the Bills rosters and an elite HC. If that’s not possible, we are never beating KC. -
Bobby Babich to call Bills' Defense
Thrivefourfive replied to Sierra Foothills's topic in The Stadium Wall
So this was a very long, drawn-out job interview. Jeez. Hope BaBich has anything left in the tank for the season. Why didn’t McDermott just give him the keys months ago and let him actually be the DC, in more than name? Personally, I don’t like some of his leadership tactics. At all. I think they manifest fear. -
I don’t miss always thinking there was going to be a WR3. Quinn Early would have been ideal, but he was too late and the Bills were too soon. Beebe, Edwards, TASKER. Boy….…

All things considered, I’m still going with the Reid led Bills this year over the McD led Chiefs. Wonder what Chiefs fan think about that.. I’ll even let the Bills into Arrowhead for the AFCCG. I just can’t feel confident with McDermott in that situation, or any playoff situation. -
I’m really not looking forward to seeing the starting WRs at this point. This is my sour patch.

Bills @ Steelers - Preseason Game 2 - Sat 8/17 7PM
Thrivefourfive replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think they’re badasses too. But there is no transition from Diggs and Davis. Thing was a clean breakup. There will be a whole new thing this year and none of it will have slow ass Diggs five yard stop routes and Davis’s sideline dash with two defenders he can’t shake between him and JA17. -

The only way that #3 doesn’t go our way is because we didn’t switch head coaches. with any combination of Mahomes/Allen, roster/roster, Reid>McDermott is the determine factor for success. The gap between COACHING STAFFS is far greater than between QBs and rosters. -
Most of the Bills' injuries have been on defense...Why is that?

Yes. I think enough of the machine is in place to win games. I don’t think winning regular season games will be a problem for McD-JA17. They’ve gotten it down every which way, which is how a franchise stays in the playoffs year after year. What I’m pissed about is everything ^^^ As predictable as they are winning regular season games and making the playoffs, they are just are predictable losing to the goddam Chiefs in the playoffs. If I could trade one missed playoffs season for one season of beating KC in the playoffs, sign me up.
-
Unfortunately, I think. I should stop there. I think the down talk of games 1-8 is how incredibly inconsistent this WR room will be. The OLine will be fine with JA17. They’ll run block like monsters, so RBs will be rolling. Defense will be full of excuses. That’s McDermott’s realm, and he gets to create that narrative.. our standards will be so low that we’ll be happy with regular middle of the pack play, and probably no big plays from anyone not named Bernard and Douglas, for however long they’re healthy. Bass could be a sorer spot than WR, but he’ll get axed if he’s actually costing the Bills games. There is just no way that this thing gets off the ground smoothly. Brady would have to be as creative as Reid to keep the pressure off young, career underwhelming middling WRs. Samuel will make a play and disappear. Shakir should get stuffed by opponents if he shows any WR1 potential during the season. The Rookie won’t get off until he learns how to play against NFL DBs and schemes. He doesn’t have the talent to win on talent, so he’ll have to learn to play, and that will take more than 8 games.

Always been a weirdo.

Another move that’s a no brainer for the Chiefs. We’ll see how this one shapes out. (Son… go get my Butker Voodoo doll!!!)
-
Butker got squirrelly, for anyone wondering, two years ago. 75%. He had a few issues, but won the SB anyways. Total outlier. Made all his playoff PATs, missed one FG. Top five leg, top five accuracy. He’ll miss a game with a leg tweak. but is a throw him out there guy, and is clutch with all systems go. Last year’s playoffs: 11/11 FGs; 8/8 PATs. Damn solid.
-
A kicker’s agent is really free money. An agent can’t “convince” a GM that their guy does this better or that better, or there’s any untapped potential that should earn bigger bucks. For a kicker, it’s pretty straight forward. There’s obviously categories to mark, but physical attributes don’t factor in like every other position. It’s like if Edmunds was a kicker. Theres no way he’d ever become overrated by $$ or fans. Doesn’t matter if your kicker is young, long, fast.. if you can’t kick, nobody is going to be clamoring to keep you around. If Butkner was interested in free agency (AND WHY THE HELL WOULD HE BE???) he might have an agent. Know what Lamar ended up doing with no agent.. getting no real offers to the point of league collusion and signed with the only team he’s ever known anyways. IF Lamar knew what he was doing, then it was making a bunch of noise, putting the LEAGUE in a bad spot, and reaping the rewards of the league and Ravens paying him off to not cause anymore bad media attention. Such a weird situation. He got what he wanted. The Ravens ended up doing what they needed to. And yet, it was a mess. Jackson’s fault all the way, and he’s lucky the Ravens are solid for allowing him to back into that ideal contract. But man.
