  1. Not saying he'd be in the top 4 for this example, and it also depends on field position, but don't sleep on Cook as a receiver/safety valve.
  2. You had me at "Bengals miss the playoffs"!
  3. Appreciate the effort compiling the data and presenting it in a digestible format. As an economist, a chart like that might be a first step in the analysis. But as others have stated, there are a bunch of variables that would need to be included to try to "explain" why some coaches reach their first Super Bowl quicker than others. Some variables to consider: how many years as coordinator or head coach (i.e., coaching experience); whether a defensive or offensive coordinator previously; whether team in playoffs previous season; how many pro bowlers previous season; injury index; etc. etc. Separately, there's the question of whether a SB appearance is the best way to measure the quality/success of a coach.
  4. Hope we see something different right from the start of the season - Jets game is perfect time to have him active in the slot and productive there!
  5. Dion's thought bubble: "you are a really crazy a$$ mofo" (or something along those lines)
  6. I've gone back and forth on this in my head, but I think I come out that we should do whatever we can to get him ("swing for the fences"/"go all in"). While I think the Bills O will be strong no matter what, with DHop I think we would be virtually unstoppable, and that would mean the D would only have to be reasonably solid. I also think that if we don't get him, there's no reason to blame Beane or point fingers.
  7. I actually feel that the term "momentum" is way overused (no offense to you personally). It is really a "catch all" term to describe recent success a team has had "within game" or across games. But what does it really mean? It's basically saying that the most recent results are the best predictors of the next results. And when TV analysts say there's been a shift in momentum, they're just saying a big play or plays occurred which changed the fortunes of the teams! Rant over - I guess that word is just a pet peeve of mine! Carry on . . .
  8. It's a bit of a stretch, but my fraternity brother's daughter dates someone on the Tulane football team. My buddy recently asked me for Buffalo food tips to pass along to his daughter and derivatively to Dorian - Fun connection! Go Bills!! PS, I said he should go to Duffs on Sheridan Dr
  9. And Damar is a very thoughtful gentleman!! He personally signed this jersey for my son in honor of his bar mitzvah (my son's volunteer project focused on encouraging people to learn CPR and Zach will make a donation to the American Heart Association)
  10. One of the best posts I've seen here - Thanks for the insightful "put things in proper perspective" post!
  11. He's done in Buffalo for sure - Unclear whether he'll coach again.
  12. One can hope Von comes back at just the right time: mid/late regular season + playoffs!
  13. Must read for Buffalo sports fans - Heartbreaking but also uplifting - A truly human story of dealing with adversity - Reminder that regardless of size of bank account, we all have our trials and tribulations. And on top of all that, it was beautifully written.
  14. I'd be curious to see (credited) drops as a percentage of targets or of targets minus catches and see how Gabe compares to other WRs. That would provide a better comparison across receivers although still flawed (e.g., no controlling for length of pass or difficulty of catch). But I agree with some others that he didn't quite pass eye test and seemingly regressed a bit, even considering various contributing factors.
  15. You raise some good points - We'll see!
  16. Hard to imagine that both Bills-KC and Bills-Bengals wouldn't be prime time - I'd expect at least one of those two.
  17. Agreed - I'd be shocked if that were true, but I guess anything is possible.
  18. Really well written and fairly closely tracks my views/emotions. I've come around to the general (fairly obvious) view that we were healthy early in the season and really clicking/on fire. Then we had major injuries and then weather and other awful circumstances toward the end of the season. Those myriad factors caused us to go from a great SB-caliber team to a good team that could barely beat the crippled Dolphins, etc. In contrast, the Bengals started the season like crap (also key injury to Chase) but are clearly hitting their stride now. So there's clearly a luck/timing aspect to being at your best late in the season. And think about the Chiefs - Mahomes injury may or may not be the reason they don't go all the way this year. I wouldn't be against letting Frazier go (not renewing his contract) - I just feel like we're not creative and flexible enough on D (and lack aggressiveness when desperately needed).
  19. Smart move! We honeymooned in NZ and had an amazing time there! Go Bills! LFG!
  20. My son said the same thing - The 1-2 inches predicted is at least 3+ here in Wyoming, OH
  21. Absolutely! Opportunity to teach tolerance in a way that the students can relate to. Excellent point.
  22. Love it! Also maybe we'll send his class real pizza (La Nova or Bocce) and Wings (Duffs)!
  23. O: Many folks will have great games, but if I had to pick two, I'd say Davis and Cook. On D, Elam and one or two on the line (Groot and Oliver)
  24. McKenzie/Davis and Elam. One of those three will surprise us (in a good way!).
