Great write up! They got to beat the Titans this week to get back on track. If the Bills lose this week then it's the same old Bills. Let's see how they respond coming off their first lost of the year.

I don't think we know what Tennessee is at this point (good team/bad team/okay team).  So a loss AT Tennessee on it's own definitely doesn't write the team off as same old Bills.  Plus Allen may not even play.

Yup. It’s the best and worst quality he has.  Cam Newton is a result of playing like that.  His teammates and fans love him for it but it will take its toll.

Very true, and I mean he's a big dude, and running backs take these kind of hits ALL the time, so it does make me wonder what's the difference that rbs aren't getting concussed left and right?  They're just shiftier? lower to the ground?

I agree with others in different threads who think his post-hit reaction reveals his intent.  Allen was already wrapped up by another defender and was in the process of going down.  There is no justification for the player to come in and hit Allen, let alone with a helmet to helmet hit.

I keep hearing this argument, but as a defender you're still trying to stop the momentum of a player moving forward.  The hit prevented Allen from gaining an additional yard.  Allen's problem is that he still doesn't know what 'live to fight another day' means... The way he sacrificed his body on this run... he very irresponsibly put himself into harms way...and the game was not even close to being on the line at this point!  He also may miss the next game... hurting the Bills even more god forbid they aren't able to beat the Titans with Barkely!  He needs to get smart fast otherwise he'll play himself out of this league.

I believe it is the most critical. It's a team with expectations (we haven't had that in years). It's team coming off of an emotional loss (we have't had that in years). It's a team we've yet to see respond to true adversity. I think this is a very critical game to gauge in terms of where we are at in "the process." It's important to be able to respond.

I'd struggle to call it most critical.  This team needs to just continue to make improvements week over week.  Accomplish this, and they'll be a daunting task for any opponent come playoffs.

  5. In the heat of the moment, during the game, I was livid at Josh Allen and wanted him to be benched.  The OP is absolutely correct in that his play at qb was putrid today, specifically in the 1st half.

Today, I see this game as another calibration of Allen's development.  I think he still needs to learn that he doesn't need to be a hero on EVERY SINGLE PLAY.  3 wins in a row where he was able to skate through some stretches of poor play clearly gave him some inflated understanding it means playing against NFL caliber players.

  6. The thing that had been bothering me about this upcoming game vs NE, is that Buffalo just hasn't played a complete game so far this season.  They've looked so great early in all 3 contests, and then just seem to coast.. .Why is that??  However, my revelation is that with NE in town, there is zero chance of this happening! This Sunday, watch as the Bills trade punches with NE for 1.5 quarters before establishing total dominance in the 3rd and 4th quarters.  This game will mark the end of the Patriots control of the league for REAL this time!

  7. I honestly think any of those guys would have been successful had Buffalo drafted them.  I think with Allen they saw his size and arm strength that set him apart, and trusted their ability to develop him with their system.

With past regimes I would have expected Buffalo to ruin even the like of a Mahomes... I think now we'll start seeing more successful drafts just from our coaches ability to develop players and put them in a system that works.

  8. So far in 3 games, the Bills haven't come close to playing a 'complete' game.  For this reason, I expect that the game will get out of hand due to a poor quarter or span of play by the Bills.

But regardless, Buffalo just needs to focus on just getting better each week.  So long as they continue to get better each week, this will be a totally different monster come week 17 and playoffs!

The question was what would make you consider Allen 'The chosen one'.  I want this team to win a super bowl, not just win a fantasy league by starting Allen, and qb is often the most critical position at achieving this.
