Are we overplaying this team's chances had we won?
Niagara Dude replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
no -
No argument from me, I am sure Sean had a lot to do with it. This is why he started talking about all the wins they have had since he arrived in his presser. You also know they are not firing Sean, so I would settle with a new more innovative cordinator who like Dabol thinks on playing to win. Frazier is like more like Sean and coaches and call plays not to lose. I have seen enough, 3 straight years we give up leads and lose playoff games

This is why you need a new defensive cordinator, we need someone smart enough to play chess with the top QB'S in this league and crunch time situations like Sunday. When have we seen Frazier come up with some complex innovative plan to stop a team or elite QB? I just hope Bills are waiting for all HC positions to be filled before announcing they are moving on from this guy. This is one way the Bills can improve for next season beyond free agency and draft. Frazier is not playoff material defensive cordinator, as I said I guarantee no team hires him as a HC

Looks like the call to squib may not have made it to Bass
Niagara Dude replied to Reed83HOF's topic in The Stadium Wall
I personally think they threw Bass under the bus too deflect from the brutal coaching decision made on next two plays. No excuses on those two passes and I don't think it was the players, Sean and Leslie Frazier screwed up on strategy -

Unnamed sources to throw Bass under the bus is not cool, either way even if Bass screwed up which I don't believe it does not exonerate the stupid coaching decisions on two plays that followed. So unless our players are complete dummies and don't understand English, you either told them to get up on the line and obstruct any free releases or you didn't. I would say Frazier & Sean decided it was safer to play 10 -15 yards off the line and still rush 4 guys who have no chance of getting to Mahomes -

Not surprised Bills PR guys are releasing stuff to media guys to cover this debacle up which only makes it worse. Just come clean and admit the final 3 plays were not good for this franchise. Learn from it and make sure you spend time to improve so it does not happen again -

I was thinking about that, Bill gets totally involved and speaks directly to his players on what he wants. -

If were talking about what was the real problem, no question it was how they were lined up to defend final two passes and that was totally on Sean & Frazier. They took timeouts and still could not get it right. -

Right, play it safe and defend from the 25. Problem is they did not defend and made it way to easy for Chiefs to gobble up 44 yards in 10secs -

Coverup, I would prefer Sean just saying they decided to just kick off and defend from 25. The problem is, they crapped the bed on the two following plays and the Chiefs had 3 sec left to kick FG. So had they done some squid or pop up kick than Chiefs don't have time to make that second pass completion. You could have defended the way they did, give up 19 yard and clock is down to maybe 3-4 secs rather then 8 secs. That most likely would have meant either a Hail Mary pass or quick out and 60plus yard FG -

It's 100% cover up job for Sean's choke , there is zero chance that Bass & special teams captain do not have discussions prior to kicking off. This is because the two plays that followed were indefensible and beyond stupid. We have former players & former GM'S all over questioning what the hell the Bills coaching was doing on those two pass plays. -

For sure, there should have been a system/process in place to make sure other players know where the kick is going towards. Is it going to be a squid, is it going to be a pop up? -

I just don't see how other players are not talking to Bass on which side of the field he will be kicking it towards and if there is not a process in place to make sure Bass and special teams captain have had this discussIion that is a failure on the HC. -

There is no way the special teams captain does not speak with Bass about which side of the field he will be kicking towards and if they don't have that process in place and that is just another failure on Sean. He screwed up and played it way too conservative , worried about getting beat for TD and not being aggressive to finish off your opponent. Left the door open and now wants to talk about execution -

I find it hard to believe they do not discuss things before kicking off, are to believe that during the season when Bass did those pop up kick offs that other players did not know. I am sure special teams captain and kicker are talking about which side he will be kicking it, this non answer Sean offers is another way go covering for his conservative coaching. Just admit you were worried about a possible second Music city miracle and this is why Bass took 7 yard sunup and blasted it through the end zone. -
Frazier getting second interview with Joe Schoen and NYG

Not bad teams but playing against teams with average level talent at the QB position, there is a difference. -
Comparisons to '87, '88 and '89 are interesting

I was thinking about him and who knows if Knox excels at a high level in next couple of seasons. They just seem to break missing high level talent on defensive side -

Then their whole process is joke because if you're planning on doing this then you would think they would be talking as a unit before the kick which side of the field he would be kicking to. Again this is on the coach who brags about being prepared for situational football. If I am the HC I would be totally involved in any final plays in such an important game. Sean is deflecting and no different for the next two plays where they called timeouts. They rushed 4 and left wide open field for receivers to run into, why are you rushing 4 and not just 2 so you have more defenders to make tackles right away or jam/hold guys at the line? Sean was covering for his whimpy coaching and even made a point yesterday to highlight his success in previous seasons Like why is his talking about previous years? is sounds like someone being defensive about his major coaching choke job. I do really care what you did last season or the season before. You had an opportunity to win a Super Bowl this season and blew it, focus on the present -

Other than maybe Diggs & White, no elite talent players beyond Allen -
The Chiefs knew what they were doing to finish out the season , they lost so they could finish below Buffalo and have the easiest road to the ECF'S. Raiders were a joke and everyone knew Titans were a fake #1 seed. The way Allen was playing , they would havre smoked the Titans because Henry did not look 100% playing with plate in his foot.

Frazier getting second interview with Joe Schoen and NYG
Niagara Dude replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
There is no way New York media and fans would accept the Giants hiring Frazier, this is just Joe Schoen trying to get Frazier's name get out there so he will have a chance at one of the other HC openings. Maybe had he prepared his defence better and not been so whimpy to close out that game he would be getting serious consideration , but there is no NFL team interested in Frazier other then to fill out league obligation so I do see him getting other interviews coming and then a majority of Bills fans praying he gets hired to get his pathetic bend but don't break defence out of town. Before his apologists come talking about his # defensive ratings, tell me about the last 3 playoff years and how our defence gave up leads in all 3 games. I pray he gets hired and would love to be wrong because there are a lot of talented defensive coaches on the market and that is what this Bills teams really needs. If the Pegulas were not so soft they would be asking Sean to replace Frazier right now. IMHO. Even Marv Levy replaced dc coordinators on those Super Bowls teams , the fact is defence is the weak link on this team right now and I don't care about fake rankings. Are you suggesting that after all HC positions are filled he will be replaced? -

No comparison at all because that team had HOF players beyond just a great QB which Allen is. Maybe Diggs & White could be in that category -

Like the game hold your excitement, I guarantee no team is hiring this clown retread. We're stuck with his him until he decides retire. Joe Schoen just doing him a favour with second interview to make it seem like he is in demand. Trust the process....... no owner hiring this guy who is your classic old retread coach
