Beane's salary cap management
loveorhatembillsfan4life replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The whole topic of Cap management is really interesting. On one hand I think Beane has done an incredible job with outs. He won’t ever get us into that situation of carrying all that dead cap money in the future again like a few years ago. Yet we pumped way to much money into a Dline that’s underachieved to what’s been invested. We also have a mantra of wanting to draft and keep our own. While Milano might not be worth top tier dollars. if we look at him in context to our other draft picks he may just be the best of the bunch and he’s gone. Now obviously circumstances have a part in this. Covid cap has really put a wrench for a team like us because we are so close. Yet this season I don’t think we can really go all In for it. We have are now having to pick and choose where to spend. Unless Beane somehow can land a bunch of stars at one year rentals.. many teams are in similar situations, but some teams with lots of cap space will close the gap. I honestly think this season is more about hold the Fort steady. We are very much a legitimate threat -12-13 win team again but we need to get lucky in my opinion to see this roster jump to Super Bowl quality. With the bigger cap on the horizon I am sure Beane is already looking ahead to next year crop of Free agents and trying to see what make sense this year and beyond. If this is their best chance to land someone who can get to the Qb then go for it. There are guys out there and it’s a need. I’m particularly interested in Lawson because of his age and something along the lines of most Qb pressures of all the free agents out there. My prediction is that Beane has to sign one more of our lineman back it and it will be Mongo. He has more versitality than Williams. We probably draft a tackle or find a value free agent if any available. Plus I think Williams will be looking to get paid and someone with more cap space will sign him. If somehow we can get them both good but not at the expense of not finding someone who can get to the Qb. Beane makes two splashes in Free Agency- one will be one of the better Pass rushers available. I’m sure he can be creative with the cap to push some money to future years. The other I am unsure of- I’m keeping an eye on Tight End because it’s not too often so many options hit the market. How do they really feel about Knox? The other is possibly a number 2 Corner. Beane has his work cut out for him this season. -
Pat Macafee said something interesting today on his show. I must also mention I haven't followed the specifics of Dak's contract number this year. But he said something along the lines of "Do you think Jerry knows something in that the Cap is going to be much higher than we are hearing"? I just though that was interesting as isn't this week supposed to be a blood bath of players getting cut.. This could also just be Pat being Pat lol

I’m thinking we now resign Mongo. Not only does he start at Guard he can come in and replace Morse God forbid he has another concussion. He would be our best option for a replacement centre. Cody occupies the other guard spot and we don’t resign Williams. Draft a tackle. I think with Josh ability to escape and evade especially coming from his not blind side we can live with that. Then Beane throws some money on the d side of the ball or tight end. We Have to give something up on the oline this year to address other needs. I also think Mongo will cost less than Williams

Zach Ertz about to be traded? [Edit: or Not]
loveorhatembillsfan4life replied to Rubes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Tight end doesn’t need to be thr focal point from option A or B to throw too in this offense but we need someone who can be dangerous and respected enough that linebackers have to defend. Take away One less defender for our guys to block in the run game. It goes hand in hand. I think we find that this offense takes it too another level. I don’t think Knox has shown that yet. I get that he’s young but Beane specifically brought up their play for a reason. And as others have said we have a window. If Ertz has something left and if Beane thinks it an upgrade for a year or two, i think he at least explores it. He could be a good Mentor for Knox as well. I will be surprised if this area isn’t addressed in one way or another. -
Spotrac: freeing up cap space for Bills
loveorhatembillsfan4life replied to BillsMafi$'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
BTW, Is the opt out in play for another season? Have we heard any hints from Star himself on his plans for this season? The reason I ask is a week or so ago I Saw a report on Good Morning Football that the Pats were definitively getting a host of players back from opt out last season.. -
I would be surprised if he goes with Cleveland over us and GB. If he does this I think more money was a factor. If he signs with the Browns I think it's kind of lackluster move for all this wait. The Browns really have no sustained playoff success. I am not sure Watt along all of a sudden makes them Superbowl Contenders. I guess yeah playing along Miles is somewhat of a story, but I think the hype goes way down. While Baker was better I am still kind of not sold on him in the clutch. JJ Will at some point in the season probably will want to punch Baker in the head. Green Bay is an interesting choice because of his roots. However they still have to go through Brady. I am not even convinced how much longer Rodgers could be in the mix there after this season. There is tension going on when the Pack drafted a QB. Now us I am obviously biased but. I think our Super Bowl Window is longer than the Pack. For reasons above the Rodgers relationship would maybe make think twice if I am looking to get a few more years out of a team. No issue here with JA and supporting cast. Look how much fun our team is. We have Josh ascending to new heights, Diggs, Tre. Lots of fun with this roster. Plenty of Primetime Games! The culture is here is fantastic, Watt will fill right in. Watt would make an impact on this D. Bills Mafia has his back and will probably donate thousands to his charity at some point. I think Beane has a read on what he is worth to this team. Would structure a contract that benefits him over the last couple years but helps us this year. However we know he won't sacrifice the future of this team for One Guy. IF Beane puts forth his best offer and it's not good enough, move on to someone else.

Texans releasing JJ Watt

Hours until a decision is announced? Scary as in a dline with him and Garrett? Or does it mean absolutely nothing? He is building this up to unprecedented levels just by Messing with everyone. Time will tell if he will actually be the difference maker for some team. -
I’m kinda bias to Matt. He made a cool Cameo vid for my cousin a year ago! . Lots of energy on the sideline. Good mentor. I feel it would be tough for Mcd and Beane to say Goodbye for a good soldier like Matt. I wonder if the family bonds this team preaches in the locker room make things a lot harder when you get closer to the end. Basically saying Matt we love what you have done for the organization but we need something more.

Carson Wentz to the Colts
loveorhatembillsfan4life replied to Brennan Huff's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's a win for the Colts. Not sure about what the future brings for Wentz but worth a shot for a QB needy team. I think at first hand the Eagles asking price was ridiculous..in the end this seems about right value in my mind. -

So his goal is to win a Super Bowl. You would think at first he looks at the Four teams who made the Conference Championship. What’s their interest? Am I the missing piece that maybe just gets them to that next level? Good culture, fan base well knockout Kc. So the other three teams check the box. Tampa has already shown they can win a SuperBowl without me. Out. GB , Buffalo, awesome fan base culture, ohh so close. Can they pay me with the cap being what it is or want to Pay me what I think I’m worth No Oh well all that other crap doesn’t even really matter. Cleveland it is! -

Should I be mashing the F5 key or is Watt going to drag this on for months? 🤪 -
Do we save anything significant cutting Morse? The only thing that scares me about Morse is that he is one more knock on the head from retirement most likely. Feliciano could be a cheaper option move him to centre. Plug Ford back in at one guard spot? Im not saying it’s the best move but maybe financially beneficial to find money for other areas.

https://brobible.com/sports/article/patrick-mahomes-family-insufferable/ I thought this was a nice read. I knew his gf liked to talk a lot, I didn’t realize his mom was getting into it as well.
