Head Coach Candidate: Darrell Bevell
Sojourner replied to LA Grant's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No way Cable drops the Seahawks for just simply an OL coach gig. He's currently the assistant HC there, no? -
Doug Marrone opts out of contract
Sojourner replied to The Poojer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Surprising, didn't think he'd opt out. I knew he wouldn't get an extension but I thought he'd be here at least another year after the job he did this season. Oh well, on to the next one! Talk is he wants to head to NY and secure the Jets job. Stating he enjoyed his time there as the OL coach. -
Please go find and quote me exactly where I stated Ryan will be dumped by the new HC they acquire. I am curious because my statements have only been the complete opposite unless they trade him for a gold mine. Your whole point was about a new HC dumping a good QB so the guy he wants can play the position - that happened, to a tee with Harbaugh, Kaep' and the 9ers.

There's actually a reasonable pot of TE's who are UFA's this upcoming offseason... Julius Thomas, Rob Housler, Charles Clay, Lance Kendricks and Jermaine Gresham. Maybe we finally address the position and save a draft pick?

QB search.....no trust in Whaley to get it right
Sojourner replied to rcatty's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So that's two QB's or a QB from the first after we have a QB who's there before anything, first. Right? You and me both brother... -

How about Marc Trestman as OC?

Hmmm. Your previous post was mis-worded then Ed. Even though the elaboration on the Pagano and Manning/Luck thing makes sense I still, in requirements, lean toward the 9ers fitting that situation more than Indy. Harbaugh drafted Kaep' in 2011 and during that season won with Alex Smith as his starter, finishing 13-3, beating the Saints in the Wild Card and losing to the Giants (due to nothing more than special team errors) in the Divisionals. Next season? He hit the bench midway through the season and the rest was history.

There are NO good Qbs available

Maybe we can get Douglas to be fired. Get angry and break the arm/s or shoulder/s of an elite QB and acquire them via trade. He'd be sure to be a Saint then! -

Sensible and considerate of all situational aspects. Good post. -
I asked for no examples. Someone else did. But still, Fitz wasn't a good QB. Favre wanted to retire. And Peyton was purely down to injuries/surgeries for him not being retained. Simple. The only situation where the coach got rid of a good QB to play his handpicked QB was the 9ers and Harbaugh...

If Glennon played like he has done for the Bucs here, people would be calling for his head. Like I said in the post you partially quoted. He's not bad, he just isn't exactly anything worth clamoring for IMO. He could come good... But so could EJ. So could Tuel. So could any other QB. I mean look back to when we played the Bucs last season. ONE RUN WON THEM THE GAME. He only had to make a handful of throws - ones we all complain about on a weekly basis here and he couldn't. -
The only one out of those four where there is a problem is San Fran'. Alex Smith was successful and winning them games in both the regular season and playoffs... New QB who by all accounts was way off adjusting to the NFL yet thrown into it head first for nothing more than his athleticism. 9ers made a mistake getting rid of him so soon. Fitz was way too much of a cap hit for a nice-guy-journeyman-QB. Favre was never around when Rex was there. He wanted out after the end of the season, to which the Jets granted his request. Manning was coming off major neck surgery, on a HUGE contract and you have the heir-apparent to your franchise. Wise move. Move on. Better contract = more ability to rebuild Seriously, get a grip of yourself.

Seriously, please, enlighten me as to what the huge fascination with Mike Glennon is... I mean, he's not absolutely inept but he ain't a winner nor a proven commodity. Realistically, I'm sticking with EJ if it's between what's been shown between those two QB's at the same point in their career. A-ha! Good one! -
On both occasions my wife enjoyed her Braxton(s). Sounds like if we go this route, I could enjoy mine.

I know a few people in Georgia and the ATL area whom are Falcons fans since the Henning and Campbell years, and the word is Thomas Dimitroff is having his head called for by fans left, right and center. There was talk about him possible being given the boot last season after their epic collapse from the 10-6 (2011) and 13-3 (2012) records and an NFC Championship to 4-12... The only reason he kept around (or so I am led to believe from the people who know their team) is purely down to the respected ties and history with Billy-B and Scott Pioli. I really don't see how he hasn't been shown the door with Smith. Atlanta's problem is anything but their QB play... It's a whole team effort. Their defense is totally suspect, game management was awry and their run game was never there minus maybe one or two weeks this season. If the new HC of ATL decides to part ways with Matt Ryan without a sure-fire successor then he is a complete moron who deserves to be out of a job within two years. Simple.
-
Whilst they are similar in total breakdowns, their line slowly but surely has gotten better and better as each week passed. Ours? Ups and downs. There was a run of games (4 I think) prior to Carolina yesterday where he had zero sacks taken and only 8 QB hits... No way that makes them on par with ours. Throughout the first half? Absolutely. Anyway, regarding Matt Ryan. It would take something of epic proportions to get him - at least two first rounders (one that would have to be top 5) a decent mid-rounder and two cornerstone players that they can work the team around until their new QB takes the reigns. Even then, it's a long shot. Ryan, some love him, some hate him but he is a gamer and a stud at QB. Put him on a team with a couple of weapons and a fairly stout defense and you're talking deep playoff runs - something Atlanta knows all too well. Also, in any said situation, I'm sure they'd want to have at least a top 10 draft pick of their own to begin with. Oh wait...

The last time the Bills won at New England
Sojourner replied to DC Tom's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Shut up. Billy boy went for it on fourth down when the game was still competitive which tells me all I need to know - he wanted to win. When his QB took a few decent licks he re-evaluated what was at stake and put in the rook after half time. He still played to win, like always, just the production didn't equate to that come the end of 60 minutes. Back to the cave with you. Toodles! -
3. Find another option for our QB competition 4. Demands and goals set by Terry or there's changes. They have to at least be reasonably lofty.
