  1. Does anyone recall the movie "Hoop Dreams" from the early 90's? Basketball version of "Blind Side" with a less fortunate outcome. The chance of these kids making it to the professional level in any sport is miniscule. Ohrer is a great story. However, as other posters have said, perhaps he just isn't good enough after all is said and done.
  2. Freddie. Will mentor Shady and the other r-backs, show them how it is done, have a great season and then retire in the red, white and blue !
  3. Long story. Started dating in '87 when the Pats*** sucked. She almost got my ass kicked when I took her to the game that fall at Rich where the Pats*** eliminated the Bills from the playoffs. She is a classic bandwagon fan as are all Pats*** fans. I lived in Beantown for 15 years and saw it firsthand. Once Brady retires and they suck again the Pats*** will sink back into oblivion...
  4. I live in CT and am married to a Pats*** fan. Her view, as is that of all Pats*** fans, is that they did nothing wrong and that the rest of the league is jealous of the their success the past decade plus. BTW, very interesting that Don Shula continues to express his thoughts about the Pats*** and Belicheck being cheaters and bad for the game.
  5. I was at this game at Gillette. Spikes knocked out Fred with a questionable elbow to the head. Watch the video closely, Fred is lying motionless on the ground while others scramble for the ball.
  6. ^ this. Looking forward to the video of the pre-game speech!
  7. Are there concerns with Kiko's knee? Didn't read the entire thread so I apologize if this was discussed earlier.
  8. Sitting on my buddy's couch in Marblehead, MA (on Boston's North Shore) where I lived at the time. By the end of the first half I was basically reading the Sunday Boston Globe and looking up once every couple of minutes to check on the game but I just couldn't turn the game off. My girlfriend (now wife), buddy and his girlfriend all left to run some errands so I watched the second half by myself. Damn that was fun!
  9. Now, that is hillarious.
  10. Is the Tom Clements that is mentioned in the article the same guy that was the OCfor the Bills under Mularkey?
  11. Agreed. Bill, I hope all is well and you are back soon. -HS I particularly miss trying to identify/decipher Bill's quotes from Jerry and the boys.
  12. Or Tom Landry? Regarding Freddie, sure he has lost a step but he still gets the tough yards when needed. The man deserves to finish his career on his own terms including a trip to the playoffs next year, and that should happen with a decent OL and OC. As for Whaley/Marrone, as fans we get caught up in analyzing the minutiae. The consensus from those who observe the Bills from the outside is that this is a team on the rise and that implementing wholesale changes in the front office would be a mistake. The obvious weaknesses with the OL and QB will be addressed. Key players on defense will be re-signed. That said, watching Hughes today I couldn't help but think of Bryce Paup. Hughes is a product of the system and if he signs a massive contract elsewhere he will be viewed as a disappointment. Whaley will offer him a decent contract but, like he did with Byrd, will not overpay. Looking forward to next season!
  13. We are not the only people who think that Hackett doesn't know what he is doing. The sequence of plays on this drive caught the attention of Gregg Easterbrook who details them in the"sour plays of the week" in his TMQ column on ESPN.com. http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/page/TMQWeekSixtenn141223/nfl-team-loser-move-fans-tuesday-morning-quarterback
  14. Patfntk - did you get a chance to check out the Canadian Ballet? I haven't been there since leaving Buffalo many years ago but it was always a good time.
  15. When was the last time you saw an NFL team try a pitch on 3rd and 1?
  16. Haven't read the entire thread and apologize if this thought has been posted previously... If Leodis played for the Patsies he would be on the waiver wire tomorrow.
  17. Amen brother...
  18. I had a similar feeling. It looked like classic Jauron era "playing not to lose" rather than trying to put the game away. One thing I noticed that nobody has commented on is how we matched the Jets in terms of physical play, at least on defense. That has not been the case over the past several years as the Jets always seemed much more physical. The defense beat the crap out of the Jets offensive players yesterday.
  19. Thanks Bill. Though I am new to posting, I have been lurking and enjoying your post-game analysis for years. I happened to watch the game today with my wife's family, who are all Pats fans. At one point my brother-in-law asked why the Bills ran it up the gut every time on first down. Hackett needs to go. I also agree with the posters who pointed out that the defense was taken to task in the second half. No pressure on Brady and the Pats scored on what seemed like every possession. I was railing about the refs, especially after they called the two offensive PI calls on Sammy and Chandler (?) but it sounded like sour grapes at that point. Best part of the game for me was after making comment after comment about Marcia, my sister-in-law figured out I was talking about Brady and burst out laughing.
  20. Bills 17 Lions 14, that is all that matters...
  21. Some in the national media can't give up on their admiration for the "Patriot way". A loss to the Bengals tomorrow will confirm the thought they are on the downward trend. A win and Skip can keep the love going. Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere: http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11629301/skip-bayless-patriots-start
  22. OL coach (Dante Scarnecchia) retiring is a bigger deal than many realize. He always seemed able to put a decent o-line on the field no matter who was on the roster. Defenses are now getting consistent pressure up the middle and Brady can't get comfortable. He clearly is not mobile so he is a sitting duck. I have watched the Pats for years (I married a Pats fan and live in CT) and this is as bad as they have looked in a long, long time.
