  1. Thanks for the synopsis, BMarv. Didn't get the game here in CT but probably wouldn't have watched if it were on... I guess the lack of responses by the usual posters says all that needs to be said about the state of our favorite team.
  2. As much as I despise the team that consistently wins the AFC East, they turned it around as an organization when they brought in Parcells as coach in 1993 followed by Kraft purchasing the team in 1994. Those of us who live(d) in the Boston area at the time will remember the dysfunction that existed in that organization prior to that time. Kraft brought in new people to run the front office, had a bit of luck along the way (i.e. Marcia) and here we are today.
  3. Interesting that the 538 site has the Pats favored 52% to 48% and the Elo spread is only 1/2 point.
  4. given our situation at WR, sign him and try him in the slot.
  5. I had forgotten how good that Bills team was and recall having little doubt they could/would win every game they played. The author of the article was right-on with his comment about Charlie Jones and Merlin Olson letting the crowd speak for the excitement of the game, though the producer of the telecast likely had alot to do with that.
  6. ^this. I watched the CBS post game report and one of the talking heads (I believe it was Boomer Esaison) said that, despite the loss Kapernik and the 49ers were going places.
  7. This was a game the Bills typically lose and the same can be said for next week's game. I hope the worm is finally turning! BTW, I was watching the CBS post-game show and swear that Norman (i.e. Boomer) called Tyrod "Terrell". Go Bills!
  8. My wife and I usually go to a local bar to watch the games (I live in CT) but I couldn't do so for the Cardinals game. I stayed home for games 4 & 5 and followed the action using the "first half" and "second half" threads on this site. I will be doing the same tomorrow. Go Bills!!
  9. Ditto, I didn't even look at it...
  10. ^ this. I watched the game with my in-laws and wife's extended family in MA. They could not get over the fact that the Pats* were not getting the calls that they always seem to get. It will be interesting to see if that changes next week
  11. Indeed. As a prior poster said, the days of Hugh Millen (and James Orthwein/Dick McPherson). If my memory is correct, John Stevens (RIP) played during that era as well. The hiring of Parcells made the Pats* relevant.
  12. Agreed, though the Texans didn't impress last week with their defensive game plan.
  13. Sure. I lived in Boston from 1988-1997 and could walk up to the ticket window and buy tickets to any Sox game (except when the Yankees were in town) the evening of the game. The games were rarely sold out. I also attended a good number of Pats* games during that time and the place was 50% full at best. People aren't going to pay $200 per ticket and $50 to park to watch a team that doesn't win consistently once Brady takes his Uggs and goes home.
  14. I guess we won't be hearing anymore rubbish about the Pats* being able to plug in anybody at QB and still win because Bill.B is such a genius.
  15. I'm sure Pats fans love his act, though nobody tops Zolak. Those of you who don't live in the New England area are very fortunate you're not subjected to Zolak on a regular basis. As for Smerlas, my high school buddies and I and I ran into him back in the early 80's coming out of Denny's in OP. He stopped and shot the breeze with us for a few minutes and seemed like a good guy.
  16. I live in CT and most folks here, including TV sportscasters and blowhards on sports talk radio, think the Bills are a joke and this game is a fait accomplis. I'd like nothing more than to have the Patsies start Edelman at QB and have K.W. give him the Johnny Manziel treatment.
  17. Did OK, got 16. Billy Brooks and Chris Burkett are the two I didn't get but should have. Also should have gotten Carwell Gardner but every time I pictured him the name Carlton Bailey popped into my head. This was a good one too, though trying to spell the last name of Johnny U., Joe T and Big Ben was a fruitless exercise.
  18. Can I come over? Giselle is going to kick my ass when I get home.
  19. ^ this. I told my wife (a Pats fan) about that game yesterday before kickoff. It appeared that Wade took a page out of Belichick's book yesterday and had his guys beat the crap out of any Patriot receiver that caught a pass over the middle (a.k.a. Bills/Giants).
  20. Sorry, came late to the board today. Look forward to Bill's posts as they are always on point. That said, GG post #55 was right on.
  21. I noticed this on multiple plays. There were several plays where a defensive player was going full speed toward the 'Boys QB and could have either had a pressure or potential sack but stopped and went into coverage. They looked neutered or confused. Bye bye Rex.
