  1. You can get better by subtraction. Chiefs traded Hill and were able to get better. But the Chiefs do have some luxuries the Bills do not (Kelce and and offense/QB that have proven to be able to spread the ball around). I don’t believe Diggs would bring anywhere close to the same haul in picks as Hill. Bills are in a bad spot right now where they need to make the team better in a number of different spots but have few resources to do so. Unfortunately things have been so mismanaged that it seems trading Diggs would neither free up enough cap space or being back enough picks to make it worth pursuing.
  2. Pretty sure the plan was Davis and McKenzie replacing both. Going into this season many fans thought those two would have big years based on both the training camp reports and the fact that they were primed to get a significant uptick in workload and had for the most part produced well in their limited opportunities in past years when called upon. The Bills were wrong about Davis and McKenzie but they were the plan and I see why they thought they would both have more success than they did this last year.
  3. not suggesting Gabe, as a three means he is our slot. Just that he should be third in targets from the wide receiver position. Shakir would play a split from the slot and from the outside, but number two in targets on the team. ideally, Knox would probably be third in targets on the team, and Davis would come in fourth in targets on the team, but number third in targets from the receiver group.
  4. True. He's gotten better. And hopefully Gabe will as well. Knox had a big issue with drops a couple years ago so Gabe has a chance.
  5. I think in an ideal situation, Shakir emerges as the #2 next year. Davis goes back to his role as #3 and thrives. Bring in another speedster to compete with and possibly move on from McKenzie. Would be great to draft a great WR early but with also needing upgrades on the o-line I'm not sure I see that. It does feel like WR salaries have exploded so long-term it may be wise to draft a WR round 1 over an o-lineman. I have two requirements of any WR the Bills draft early. They need either have game breaking speed like a Waddle or Hill or they need to be minimum 6'3".
  6. Didn't Knox drop a gimmie TD in the WC game? He's been better but I don't think he is out of the woods yet.
  7. More I consider it I think the more accurate color to date is Aaron Rodgers. With the exception of one season out of about 15 the Packers always underachieved in the postseason. But it was not always Aaron Rodgers fault. So far that has largely been Allen and the Bills.
  8. Agree. But Mahomes is basically 5 for 5 in terms of playing at the elite level so if anyone in the history of the NFL gets the benefit of the doubt in terms of projecting future success it would be him. Right now, realistically Mahomes is the only guy that has a chance to catch Brady in terms of career accolades and GOAT title. This Super Bowl is a big one for him because it won't look good dropping to 1-2 in Super Bowls when you are chasing a guy who is 7-3 in the Super Bowl. But if he can go 2-1, with two league MVP's, five straight AFC title game appearances, 3 Super Bowl appearances that's a heck of a start to a career.
  9. That's a terrible reference because at this point Mahomes is both Brady AND Manning. Manning was always the guy that had the best regular season stats and many times the #1 seed. That has also been Mahomes most years. Mahomes has just been much better at getting to the Super Bowl thus far. Both Allen and Burrow are the same tier QB's right now. They both appear to be equal rivals to Mahomes.
  10. When was Rivers ever a serious MVP candidate? Allen has consistently been a top 3 QB and #1 MVP candidate for large stretches of the year three years running. I'm not sure Rivers can claim more than one season as such in his long career. All it takes to "beat out" Burrow AND Rivers at this point is one super bowl ring. Then he has also "beat out" Marino and tied Rodgers.
  11. Aaron Rodgers not in the top 5. Biggest waste of a career all-time. Young was great but his peak was too short IMO. Elway did for a long time.
  12. Looking at the play by play. Bills cut the lead to 14-10 with under 4 minutes left in the first half. But they would end up going into half time down 28-10.
  13. 9 turnovers!!?? Never knew that. Or that it was even possible to turn the ball over that many times and still score 17 points. Typically, you only get about 10 or 11 possessions in a game.
  14. I'm not talking about winning. Just getting there. If you can't get there at all (like the Bills) you have no shot. Bills failed to accomplish that when six consecutive teams have been able to. One team even double dipping with two different QB's. Have to include Wentz. He had that team as the #1 seed before his injury. Very good chance they would have made the Super Bowl with him as well. And at any rate, they weren't paying Wentz or Foles anything which is the larger point. Then you have Brady. He is well known for having taken less than market value against the cap for his entire career and he makes up nearly half the QB's on the list that were not on rookie contracts.
  15. We will get a couple "bargain" years before he is due another contract. Rinse and repeat. Nothing beats a good young QB on the rookie deal. It's too bad the Bills couldn't make it to the Super Bowl like the Chiefs x2, Bengals and Eagles x2 and Rams were all able to while their QB's were on rookie deals. The last six super bowls have all featured teams with QB's on rookie deals. 2022-Hurts 2021-Burrow 2020-Mahomes 2019-Mahomes 2018-Goff 2017-Wentz/Foles 2016- Brady and Matt Ryan neither QB on rookie deal 2015- Newton 2014- Wilson 2013- Wilson 2012- Flacco and Kaepernick
  16. His other greatest move is trading for Diggs. Beane sort of started the trend of teams trading high assets for proven WR's. And it's really been a home run for all the teams that have done it recently, Miami with Hill and Philly with AJ Brown. So, for Beane one draft pick, one trade and still pending the results on Free Agents I think? Although I would maybe lump Beasley in as success, but short lived. He desperately needs the Von Miller signing to hit. If we look at the total of a GM's responsibilities, draft, trades and free agents he has say 2.5 hits (Beasley being the half).
  17. He was probably in that top 3 conversation but if i remember correctly, Peyton was still considered the best in the game despite a 2-0 ring disadvantage. It was probably around when Brady won his third that he started to be considered the best, or even maybe the 2007 season when Brady exploded statistically. Because Allen played behind an elite line this year? Allen's like was below average this year. What makes you think he would get killed going from one below average line to another?
  18. If Burrow goes on to win 3+ super bowls we can have that discussion. Brady was viewed as a good but not elite QB when he won his first couple of super bowls. He started to be viewed as elite when his defenses were average /poor and he was the main reason they were winning games. Burrow is currently considered the 2nd best QB in the league. He’s certainly not under rated .
  19. Zero percent I am thinking. They could have put Dallas as the opener this season against the Rams and did not because I think they didn’t want to schedule the same team in back to back years.
  20. Zero expectations. Worse of all, if they dominant out of the gate and beat the Chiefs and/or Bengals in the first six weeks of the season it will mean NOTHING! Just like it meant nothing in 2021 and 2022. The entire Bills 2023 season is irrelevant until January. Finish as the 1 seed or the 7 seed, won’t make a difference to me.
  21. 49ers don't have signficant money tied up into QB's. They are about to get out of the Jimmy G contract and will only have rookie QB contracts. You can't afford big contracts for RB's when you have a franchise qb sized contract. We just have to stop wasting day two picks on RB's. Take them in the 6th round and later.
  22. But we have the most important piece! So you're telling me there is a chance?
  23. This is what the OP is missing. They "only" scored 27 points and "only" 13 points after the initial 14 but it was pretty clear that the D had no answers. If the Bengals needed a got to have it TD they would have gotten one. That is how it felt.
  24. Well come, that's not fair Gunner! You have benefit of 20/20 hindsight.
  25. The thing that sucks is I think they caught the Chiefs based on winning two out of the last three. But now the Bengals are better than both teams. If Burrow didn't have the appendectomy surgery that caused him to miss the entire preseason, leading to an 0-2 start, they probably take the 1 seed over both the Chiefs and Bills.
