Josh maybe the 11th highest paid QB soon
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
Recent history says otherwise. Wentz, Goff, Mahomes and Watson ALL were paid new deals before the start of their 4th season. Beane was hardly being contrarian. In that time frame, the only QB that has showed something and not been paid before their 4th season was Jackson. After Allen, both Murray and Hurts were paid after 3 seasons. And we assume Burrow and Herbert will as well. -
Josh maybe the 11th highest paid QB soon
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall
A shorter deal ends up being better for the QB and worse for the team. Mike Brown should go for as long a deal as he can get Burrow to sign. Chase doesn't even need to enter the equation yet. But if I am the Bengals I possibly try and deal him towards the end of his contract like the Chiefs did with Hill. -
Eat Crow: Your most embarrassing Bills opinions

As the years have gone on, I hope for the best and expect the worst. Expecting the worst brings out the negative feelings and criticism. But it makes the losses and failures hurt a little less. -
Highest Graded Bills Since 2006 List
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall
He was very good his second to last season in Buffalo. His final season in Buffalo he was injured and he never got back to his all-pro level of 2012. -

His last season was actually an injury shortened season in 2013. I believe 2012 was his overall best season going off memory. -
Highest Graded Bills Since 2006 List
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to wppete's topic in The Stadium Wall
Anyone know if the Byrd year was 2009 or 2012? Going off my memory I recall his 2012 season being a great year. I suspect that is the season he graded highest. Not his 9 interception rookie season. -
I'd argue his biggest wins are the recent wins he has had against Ohio State. They weren't post-season or bowl games but to take that program from where it was when he arrived to where it is now was quite an achievement. Michigan had become a joke and after thought. I don't think Jim Harbough is the right coach for the Bills but I do think he can be a good coach for another NFL team. Given where the Bills are now, a top team, I wouldn't want to take the risk of bringing him in.

Do the Bills Under Appreciate Gabe Davis?
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
I agree. But he's still likely the starting #2 outside receiver. But he should be behind Knox or Kincaid in targets and maybe tied with our slot receiver. Gabe can possibly be a long-term solution for the #2 receiver spot. He just shouldn't be the second most targeted pass catcher. Gabe was at his best as the #2 outside receiver when Diggs and Beasley were 1 and 2 in targets. -
For me, three things stand out since 2017 when the two took over. 1. Top three safety duo, and in most years could even argue the #1 duo. I really think the Bills would have finished as the one seed last year if we had Hyde all year. 2. Top three QB play since 2020. 3. Diggs acquisition. Those three things to me have kept the Bills as Super Bowl favorites and annually winning a lot of games. I believe Hyde and Poyer both arrived before Beane was hired as the Bills GM. McD probably gets all the credit for having Whaley sign them. Both probably get credit for really buying into Allen in the lead up to the draft and ultimately drafting Allen. And Beane credit for trading for Diggs. Moving forward, at their ages and now accumulated injuries, it's unrealistic to expect the safety duo to maintain the standard of play they have shown since arriving. Hopefully the D-line finally for once becomes a force. And Diggs, even if he does continue to perform at a top 5 level at the position, we know the offense needs more consistency and juice outside of just Diggs. That was definitely shown last year. For whatever reason, even under Daboll, Diggs has been a near nonfactor in the playoffs games with few exceptions compared to his regular season dominance. It would be nice to see that reversed this season. Lower regular season numbers and other players stepping up and then in the postseason the Bills create and find more open opportunities for Diggs.

Is this year make or break for McDermott?
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to CountDorkula's topic in The Stadium Wall
A few years of losing records? Seems unfathomable with Allen at QB. He would surely be fired after the second if not the first. He's already got the team in a downward postseason trajectory. -
Is this year make or break for McDermott?
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to CountDorkula's topic in The Stadium Wall
I voted "it should be". McDermott doesn't have to get the team over the hump into the Super Bowl but he has to right the ship. He has to keep the team from regressing. One of two things has to happen. 1. They don't get embarrassed in the divisional round or worse yet don't even make the divisional. At this point, i'll settle for a competitive divisonal round loss as saving McDermott. or 2. They have to avoid the annual slide this team has between Halloween and Thanksgiving. The slide has cost them the one seed multiple years running now. -
Diggs was also our "first round draft choice" in 2020.

I thought he was gone? Why are they dragging their feet?

The ones that should really have an issue with this are the New Jersey state government.

Chicago, G-men, Detroit, and Washington.

2022 WR class open vs man coverage
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to BarleyNY's topic in The Stadium Wall
Maybe that is how he got so open. Of course, the problem is that is when the receiver goes one way and the ball another. -
Bills 2023 Official Schedule
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Warriorspikes51's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think we have a great road team as well. The thing that is killing the Bills these last two seasons by not having the 1 seed is having to match up with a higher seed rather than say, the Jaguars. Does anyone think the Bills would have lost to the Jags like they did the Bengals last year? There is always a chance but your odds are significantly better if you can match up with a lower seed. -
SI dumping all over McDermott at #22
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Toyo321's topic in The Stadium Wall
Don't you think with Allen, the absolute floor for any HC should be getting the team into the playoffs every year? If McDermott continues the trend of 1. blowing regular season games that keep us from the one seed. 2. diminishing returns in the postseason ever since 2020 He will be on the hot seat. Right now, I would say his seat is warm because the above two things have become a trend with this team and it's up to him to fix them. -

Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Toyo321's topic in The Stadium Wall
j wouldn’t be so sure of that. losing record with JA playing every game? That just can’t happen. And if it happened when the team is already in a downward trajectory since the 2020 AFC Championship game appearance his seat would be pretty hot. -
Beane's biggest blunder?
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Sammy Watkins' Rib's topic in The Stadium Wall
This did end up being a mistake. Like Beane, I overvalued the production that I though Davis and Lil Dummy as you call him would contribute. There was good reason to believe both would step up as starters and I think Beane saw it the same way. Obviously, we were both wrong. Blown evaluation. Just like missing the evaluation on Teller. But I think the thought process was correct which is why I rank it just below the use of all those picks on RB's. -
Beane's biggest blunder?
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Sammy Watkins' Rib's topic in The Stadium Wall
For me, the missed evaluation on Wyatt Teller is also a 20/20 hindsight argument. It was a bad move, but one that GM's make all the time and you can see why. That is why I rank the overvaluation of RB's in three of the last four drafts as his biggest blunder. There's really no data that suggests teams should be using that many high draft picks on the position. Beane tried to be a contrarian and it came back to bite him. Missed opportunity to address the o-line. -

That would have been a complete disaster. How legit were all the rumors though?
