  1. Ten straight MVP's have all been on teams that were the best team in their conference so Win/Loss does seem to play a huge role. Of course odds are, when you have two conferences, you are going to be able to find at least one QB out of the top two finishing teams that has really good and deserving stats. That is likely how it will play out this year as well. While we can sit here and say that Josh arguably has the best stats of all the QB's this year, that won't get it done if the Bills are not the best team in the conference. He needs to basically have unanimously better stats then the other QB's to win the MVP and not be on the best team. Good thing for him he is already +4 in TD's on all other QB's. And +7 on Mahomes. If he can finish the season in the +10 area they may just be a wide enough gap for the voters to recognize.
  2. The last non-QB MVP was Adrian Peterson in 2012 and the Vikings didn't even win their division that year. They finished as a 10-6 wild card. McCaffery will not have nearly the yards that AP had that year, but he is on pace to double AP's TD total from his MVP season.
  3. He also had a textbook perfect definition of an "arm punt" in that game which is why he had an insanely good 89.6 QBR to go along with that poor passer rating. Passer rating is only accurate if you watch the entire game and no what actually happened. I want to say that this was also the game that Shakir dropped a perfectly placed TD pass as well. Again, his QBR for the game was really, really high.
  4. So how do you see it now with Allen and Mahome each having 8 INT's on the season but Allen having a whopping 7 more TD's than Mahomes? Another fact about the two QB's and their teams, they are combined 0-5 in games where their defense gave up more than 20 points. It seems that for this year, you are essentially crediting Mahomes as the better QB simply because he has a better defense and thus one less loss than Allen and the Bills. It is a bit odd because it would seem the QB that has the lesser defense should be credited with more value and success, not less.
  5. The NFL media and voters are going to start to see a QB that leads in TD's by a lot, is one or two in completion percentage and doesn't have any more INT's then Mahomes or Hurts. Looking ahead, the Bengals game is massive. Chiefs or Dolphins will lose next week in the early game. That means the door will be wide open for Allen and the Bills to take the division lead or be in great position to finish the season ahead of KC if the Bills go on to win the head to head later in the year.
  6. It is absolutely shaping up into a possible McCaffery MVP year. I think the Bills at minimum probably have to win the division for Allen to win the MVP. But yes, the last 10 MVP winners have all been QB's of one of the teams that finished with the one seed in their conference so just winning the division might not be good enough. I'm not sure I see Mahomes getting the MVP this year even if they have the one seed. Everyone is making a big deal about how great the Chiefs defense is this year so that should hurt Mahomes chances a bit. And this looks like a year where he will be well behind in some of the more touted QB stats like TD's, yards and completion percentage. And his INT's are up. If the Ravens could somehow finish with the one seed Lamar probably has a great chance. Same for the Tua and the Dolphins as well probably since I don't see the voters giving Hill the credit he deserves in Miami.
  7. He is the real MVP of Miami for sure. Not sure the league/voters want to give the MVP to a guy like Hill though. It could shape into a year where we get our first non- QB MVP since AP won it back in 2011. If it goes that route again I think McCaffery would be the choice. Right now, it feels like there are so many QB's that are in it. More than I can recall in recent memory. One thing that definitely helps Allen's argument over Mahomes after today is that Mahomes had zero TD's he came into the day 7 TDs behind Allen and didn't make up any ground.
  8. We will have a much clearer picture once this week's games wrap up. But you bring up a good point it that right now it seems like there is sizeable separation between the top 7 in the standings and everyone else. But part of that separation right now is that the Bills already played this week and everyone else still has to play. Because of this the Bills are 2 games up in the win column on the next best teams behind them after 7. But a couple of these teams will likely get W's and then only be one game back. The obvious choices I think would have to be Bengals and Chargers and each has a head-to-head against us remaining. Chargers are only one game back in the loss column and play the Bears. They have already had their bye week so they can pick up an extra win when the Bills eventually have their bye. The game two weeks before Christmas could be huge depending on how things unfold.
  9. Josh Allen's one turnover was not the problem last night. Not even close. Are you saying you would not sign up for a 3:1 TD/INT ratio every single game? That's 51 TD's to 17 turnovers played over a full season.
  10. Purdy is starting. Cleared concussion protocol yesterday. I also have to give the Bengals the benefit of the doubt but their remaining schedule is brutal. The Bills game next week is probably a must win for them.
  11. Purdy is out of the protocol. Expected to start the game tomorrow.
  12. I've long felt the Bills have matched up well with KC. The last three games the two teams have played pretty much shows this to be the case. I disagree with you on Miami being a problem for KC. Miami beats up on the bad/finesse teams, but they get handled rather easily by the good teams. KC's defense will totally shut down Miami. And Miami's defense is mostly garbage like it is against everyone. A lot of Philly love I see. I'm not buying into them though. I think 49ers have a better shot if they can stay healthy for once.
  13. I notice that as well. How does a QB as prolific as Allen is at running in TD's go untouched from 13 yards out? That's crazy.
  14. Is that a possibility? Don't tease me now.
  15. This is so true with regard to Allen. One of Allen's biggest criticisms from the media is that he is not consistent enough game to game. They want him to basically play every game with a 3:0 TD/INT ratio and 340+ total yards. If the standard from the media is that Allen needs to be more consistent, it's simply an unrealistic expectation. If he was more consistent, he would be better than Mahomes. And Mahomes is viewed by most in the media as an immortal in the football world. Rightfully so. But to set Allen's standard at that level while not having the same standard for any of the other QB's rather silly. Allen is nowhere near consistent game to game but yet at the end of the day or end of the season, for the last three seasons and possibly going on 4th season now, there might be one QB with better numbers than him and one QB with more wins then his team.
  16. Watching him run on that crosser for the TD was a thing of beauty. Knox doesn’t move that smoothly or quick to say the least.
  17. A few weeks ago I thought Mahomes was out of the running. Now he is the favorite was again. It still looks like his stats will not be blowing anyone out of the water. Heck, he might only have the 3rd best stats of all the QB's by season end. But the Chiefs do appear to have the inside track at the one seed in the AFC and that has always been the biggest deciding factor. Tua is still listed with the second best odds but I just can't buy into him as MVP at all. Zero chance Miami finishes as the one seed, and we are already starting to see the Dolphins offense slide. They still have some tough matchups ahead too. I still like McCaffery a lot to win it. This week's game will be big for him. Get another TD or two in a win against the Bengals without Brock Purdy and he will cement his case even more. And RB is one of the positions where you can win it with good enough stats without necessarily having the best record in your conference. In fact, I believe that is how we got our most recent non QB MVP some 10+ years ago when AP won it. Right now Allen has a sizeable TD advantage on all the QB's. To win I think Allen needs to go over 40 total TD's with no other QB's reaching that mark, finish the season leading the league in completion percentage and win the division.
  18. I put that as much on Allen too. Allen has to call an audible to a QB sneak there . Anything spotted inside the one has to be an automatic sneak in Allen’s mind regardless of play call that comes in. Hope both Doresy and Allen learned their lesson on that one.
  19. He should have called an audible to sneak it for a TD. Why in the world would he not override a hand off call to Murray there? Allen has to know anything INSIDE the one yard line has to be a QB sneak.
  20. I’m looking for a minimum of a hurdle and one angry run out of Josh tonight. Let’s go! 8+ rushes for 60+ yards
  21. I was going to say, it looked like a pretty obvious back injury to me.
  22. He needs to hurdle the next opportunity he gets. That’s when we’ll know the old Josh is back and that he is thinking less and just reacting.
  23. he’s not Mahomes. Let’s stop comparing him to Mahomes. If he could read the field consistently like Mahomes he would have shown us that by years six already. Allen has other tools in his tool bag. Might as well let him use those as well.
  24. i’d counter that we’d be trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. It’s year six for Allen. I think he’d have figured that out by now if it was something he could do with any kind of consistency. If we know, he’s not gonna be consistent with the mental aspects of the game, then why reign in his athleticism?
  25. Josh's athleticism one way the team can overcome his and his teammates mental lapses. That is my point. We have taken away a good amount of his athleticism by beating it into his and the coaching staff's head that he should not run as much. We need to be prepared to pay the consequences of possibly enduring a couple more regular season losses because of it.
