Anyone else feeling pretty good with the Bills?
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to SoonerBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall
Serious question. Just how many do you expect to improve? Diggs and Beasely improved greatly. Brown had one of his best seasons. That's 3. Is there a problem that the number is only 3? I mean Diggs has been one of the best wr's in the league the last 4 seasons on average. Beasley was an all-pro. There's not going to be a ton of opportunity for other pass catchers when you had those two plus home grown Gabe Davis taking the lions share of the targets. Crowder, Sherfield, Sanders and Harty did not have career seasons. I'm not sure there is anything wrong with that given the target shares that Diggs, Beasley and Davis and throw in a rookie first round draft pick in Kincaid took away from those four players. Nothing wrong with 3 at all IMO. -

I also would not have wagered a grand on 15 rushing TD's though either. Doesn't really matter how we score points. Just that we score. Bills continue to score at a high rate. To counter the ppg under Brady, offensive scoring was up in the two post season games. 27.5 ppg vs. 26.5 on the regular season total and significantly greater than the 20ppg in the final three regular season games. Brady also took over in the second half of the season when the weather is not typically as conducive to higher scoring games. Although, less than a factor this past season with late season road games in Miami and LA. Bills still faced tough Chief and Patriot defenses in December. -

I find it hard to believe Allen goes from 37 to 36 to 35 to 29 and then 25 passing TD's. This for a QB who has four straight seasons of 40+ total TD's. The Bills offense is still moving the ball (4th in total yards) and scoring too (6th in points). They had 451 points scored. Only a slight dip from '22 and '21 at 455 and 483 points scored. If the Bills are still moving the ball someone is going to be scoring. It was likely an anomaly that Allen had 15 rushing TD's this last year. Expect a return to less than 10 rushing TD's and more than 30 passing TD's. -

And someone will. Going by your logic we should expect Allen to have his lowest passing TD total since 2019. I don't think that is how it works. The TD's will go to someone else. Not necessarily one player in general. But I find it hard to think he will throw significantly fewer than the 29 he threw last year. Last years 29 TD passes was certainly the anomaly to the three previous seasons with 37, 36 and 35 TD passes. Using your logic we should expect Allen's passing TD's to take another big dip down to about 24 or 25 on the season. That is not a bet I would want to make. -
Drake London and Caleb did not play together at USC actually.

Got to get the 1 seed and match up with a Houston or Jacksonville at home. Not KC or Cincy in the divisional round. It's hard enough to make it to the Super Bowl going through just one of those teams. Bills have had the two seed 3 out of the last 4 postseasons? KC has only had the one seed in two out of the last four i believe. But other teams keep getting the 1 seed over the Bills due to just inexplicable head scratching losses in the regular season. -
Yep and on top of all of that, factor in trading a first round pick for Diggs in 2020, they actually have invested a top pick at WR. They have invested first round picks on pass catchers in two out of the last four drafts. If they do it again this draft it will be 3 out of the last 5. Also, I think the immediate positive impact that Brown and Beasley gave the Bills as cheaper veteran free agent pick ups at the position got Beane thinking he could find cheap veteran WR's to replace them. Neither Sanders or Crowder hit like either of Brown or Beasley. And I am sure like many of us he was somewhat fooled by Davis who we all thought would become more than what he was. I continue to maintain that what failed the Bills offensive strategy was their selection of RB's on day 2 in three out of four drafts starting in 2019 with Singletary, then Moss in 2020 and Cook in 2022. Should have at most drafted one in a four year span, not three.

Other. Fake slide with a truck and then hurdle.

Tyler Bass married Rick Tuten's daughter

On the surface I feel the same. But we've extended two out of our four day 1 and 2 picks on the D-line. And might extend a third in Rousseau. We seem to be doubling down on the D-line investments we have made. Unless I am forgetting someone, the only one that was a draft day flop for us was Basham. I would also say, the D has been good to great in the regular season. And they have even had some nice moments in the postseason. The problem is they have been consistently horrendous against divisional round opponents. It's about getting the defense to play well against the best competition. That's how teams get to the Super Bowl. You don't make it to the Super Bowl winning shootouts. That might work one year if you get lucky but more often than not you have to be able to keep a team to 24 or less points.

Kenny Pickett being traded to Eagles (according to Schefter)
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
This tells me the Eagles are far from believers in Hurts. And based on how he finished last season and his injury history, they are probably right to not be big believers in him. -
that’s exactly why I said it would be a last-minute trade. They gotta know who’s gonna be available at five.
-
A chargers - Vikings trade seems like a slam dunk. Makes sense for both teams. Vikings get number 5 and Chargers get number 11 and 23. The only thing you don’t like from the Vikings standpoint is there is a possibility that quarterbacks go 1, 2 and 3 meaning the Vikings are left with the fourth choice at quarterback, and what if they don’t like who’s left? Would seem moving all the way up to five will surely be, a last-minute decision based on who has come off the board.

He was?

Hyde and Poyer never playing together in a Super Bowl with the Bills is a shame.
-
Seems like there are too many first round graded receivers in this draft to move up into the top 10. And even with the top 3, odds are one of the three busts. But who? I say move up in the 16-25 range if there is a WR the Bills absolutely love and feel their draft board shows a huge drop off in WR talent coming soon.

Bengals franchise tag Tee Higgins
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Roundybout's topic in The Stadium Wall
We at least know how and have beaten the Chiefs multiple times. Have had multiple chances late in the game to beat the Chiefs in the playoffs. We haven't really been competitive against the Bengals on either side of the ball, but on defense in particular. We have no clue how to beat the Bengals. Three straight games they've started the game with back to back scoring drives to open up the game. -
Surprisingly not the worst thread started this year! Probably not even in the top 10.

What is your unpopular Bills opinion?
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall
13 seconds didn’t matter. Bills would have loss the next week to the Bengals. -
Looking at the numbers, I don't see that to be the case at all. 9 games with Jimmy G he averaged 4 receptions per game for 50 ypg. Had three games with 80+ receiving yards (1 every third game) and 4 games under 30 receiving yards. 6 games with Purdy he averaged 4 receptions per game for 52 ypg. Had two games with 80+ receiving yards (1 every third game) and 4 games under 30 yards receiving, a more frequent rate of < 30 yard games than he had with Jimmy G as QB. Kittle was used as a bigger red zone threat late in the season that year, but in terms of an important piece of the offense between the 20's, it doesn't appear that Kittle was used any differently than when he had Jimmy G throwing him the ball. Knox's entire career has mostly been the same but with much less production between the 20's. And some years Knox is used in the red zone, but other years he is not.

I honestly think if Mahomes wasn't in the league, Allen and the Bills would have at least two super bowl appearances and Allen would be talked about as the baby GOAT to Brady. That is how good Allen is and how much of a PITA the Chiefs and Mahomes have been to the Bills. The difference between Allen and Mahomes in ability is miniscule compared to the differences between all the other parts of the two teams. No Mahomes in the league and the Bills make the Super Bowl in 2020 and 2023 seasons. They probably make the conference title games in '21 and '22. They lose to the Bengals in one of those seasons.

Dolphins to release CB Xavien Howard
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Gregg's topic in The Stadium Wall
You are truly the comedy gift that keeps on giving. You’ve been predicting the Dolphins to overtake the Bills for years. One of these days you will be right. Just like the guy that predicts a stock market crass every year.
