Go for broke 2018 draft
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Tatonka68's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We absolutely don't as of right now. But the Rams were in the exact same boat last year. New coach, new veteran LT, and a couple additional weapons on offense completely changed everything in year two. -

OP jinxed Peterman. -

Got to somehow convince Darnold to come out. Him and Rosen are definitely the top two. Mayfield has me very intrigued though. -

Browns will likely hold the first pick. Are you saying they will draft two QBs in the top five? If the Browns land the first pick and the 49ers land the second or third pick I don't see an issue in trading up. -

Yep. If there is one good thing this regime has done it is acquire the pieces to draft that QB in 2018. I thank them for that and now ask them to close the door on their way out. -

Go for broke 2018 draft

Allen scares the heck out of me. But yes, Jackson is no guarantee either. But I agree with your overall point of their being 4 or maybe 5 legit prospects. I think by the time the combine and real evaluations start, we will see that. -
Go for broke 2018 draft

We have to make bold moves in the draft. That is exactly what both the Rams and Eagles did in trading up to get Goff and Wentz 1,2. Until we find that franchise QB nothing else will matter. But do we trust McBeane and McDermott to develop the QB prospect? That's a serious question mark at this point and why I would not shy away from the conversation of moving on from this duo before you get in it too deep with them. -

This is reason #1 and the only reason we need to fire McDermott at the end of the year. Just ask yourself, with what we have scene from this guy and his staff, do you trust them to evaluate and groom a franchise QB? It is an easy decision once you answer that question honestly. We need to go the route of the Eagles and Rams and higher a youthful offensive mind as our HC. Bring in a veteran DC to run the defense. Rosen Darnold Mayfield Jackson In that order. 49ers are going to have a top three pick and will likely be looking to deal. Even if Darnold goes back to school we have enough ammo to get one of those guys. -
A measured take on McDermott
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The deal for Benjamin actually makes the most sense to me. Just terrible timing for how things unfolded after the move. Think back to the trade deadline. Bills were 5-2 and ROLLING. But the offense still needed an extra boost. We had Clay with an injury and injury history. Zay just slowly starting to come around from a terrible start. Matthews also with an injury he was recovering from. We made the Benjamin move as extra insurance to get us to the playoffs. Unfortunately, but I believe coincidentally the defense and the offense imploded at the exact same time. -
A measured take on McDermott
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Pine Barrens Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It is a safe best that if both players were still on the Bills the numbers that each has with the Rams would be flipped. That is always how it was when they both were healthy and played with us. McVay and Goff are just running a different offense than we have the last few years. So would you be singing the same tune if it were Watkins who had 700 yards and 4TDs with us? Now that's only a pace of like 1120 yards I believe so it's not monster numbers. But it's decent numbers and what he averages with us when he is healthy. You are right though, it does come down to price. Of course we could have always just accepted his 5th year option and have a good receiver at not such an outrageous price for one more year. -
I wanna see Peterman start a game again this year
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'd like Peterman to earn it before he gets another shot. The guy never looked good in pre-season. Not quite sure why so many here thought he did. I guess just looking average against mostly 3's and 4's by rookie standards now equates to looking good? He looked terrible in his first live action. I doubt he looks good in practice to be honest. But McDerp is blind to it all so he wouldn't know. So yeah, we will likely see him again at some point. -
So what went wrong today?
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
So true. He didn't even look good in preseason either. Not saying he looked bad in pre-season either, but he was just Meh. He didn't light it up like Mahomes. -
Like it or not, QB is a sacred position in football. They all have egos. Even the ones that seem grounded. They get special treatment and teams don't play musical chairs with their QBs on a week to week basis. Doing so tells the QBs on your team that they suck. That's fine if your goal is to tank the season. I'm with you, as are most of us, in that it was a good move to make the switch to Peterman to see if there was a spark. But this was assuming Peterman was ready. From what we saw today, Peterman wasn't anywhere close to ready which really contradicts what coach was telling us all week. And the fact that their were two blatantly obvious points in today's game in the second quarter (12:53 Bills first possession after Peterman's 3rd INT and 10:32 Bills first possession after Peterman's 4th INT) where McDermott should have benched Peterman didn't help any. And weren't you the one that said "Not happening" when I suggested a few days before the game that Peterman could be benched in favor of Taylor at the half if he plays poorly?

Around the NFL Week 11 - Who to Root For
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Total BS that Ravens face Green Bay without Rodgers. Hundley is a joke. 9/16 115yards 2 INTS and 2 sacks for 25 yards. What a waste with how terrible the Ravens offense is. Green Bay has been a terribly mismanaged organization for years now. Outside of of Rodgers they have nobody. The only organization that wastes QB talent more than the Packers is the Colts. I don't see a Belicheck coached team putting up those kind of numbers with their back QB. -
Negative: 18-35 180 yards 0 TDs 1 INT 1 Fumble Positive: 22-35 260 yards 1TD 1 INT 0 Fumbles Uber Positive: 28-40 320 yards 2 TDs 0 INT 0 Fumbles I'd be concerned about strip sacks in the pocket as well. Taylor did a good job of not only limiting picks but also limiting fumbles. Some rookie QBs tend to fumble a lot more on average.

This is why Tyrod was benched
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to essential's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Pretty well summed up and what we all know. We can get by and manage when Taylor is still making enough plays to win games like in the Denver game. But when he is missing reads and not making plays like in the last two games the team has no chance. And over the last season and a half he has had too many games like the last two. -
The LA Rams 2017 Turnaround
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is pretty much spot on. Now it looks like both sides of the ball suck though. -
The defense hasn't shown up since the Raiders game three weeks ago. Not showing up this week wouldn't be because they are not getting behind the rookie. It would just be the status quo of this defense. The offense has had many terrible games this year. Especially on the road. Again, it would be status quo, not because they are "not behind the rookie". I was expecting the move a week later, but honestly, I saw this as a game where Taylor would get taken down at least five times if not more by Bosa and company. I don't think our offense suffers any with the QB change.
-
It depends on game flow too. If the D is getting lit up again, they probably stick with Peterman in the second half even if he has multiple turnovers in the first half and isn't moving the ball. But if it is a close seven point game because the defense is doing it's part but Peterman looks like a deer in headlights with multiple turnovers, then I could see the switch back.
-
This is what I was looking ahead to as well. With Taylor at QB I assumed the Chargers would bring him down 5 times at least. Think the Jets game two weeks ago. With Peterman, not sure, but there's a chance he only takes one or two sacks. With Taylor it's almost guaranteed Bosa and company get to him a half dozen times.

Haven't thought of it that way. EJ Manuel is probably the best black comparison to Bortles. Bortles is probably a notch above EJ in talent level, but still not immune to heavy criticism. Bortles has certainly received far more opportunity than EJ ever did. But again, Bortles is a little better than EJ I think, still a bad QB though.
