Official fire Rick Dennison thread
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Buffalo Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm suggesting it's not nearly as ludicrous as everyone thinks given the massive change that will be happening in the off-season. Also, look at the Eagles and Rams as the perfect examples of teams with young QBs to copy. Offensive minded head coaches that have proven veteran defensive coordinators running the D. Will the offense ever get the attention it needs with a defensive minded head coach in McDermott? Will the defense ever succeed in running McDermott's system? -

Is it difficult for you to grasp that we have the perfect situation to walk away from McDermott if we choose to? New OC, new system and new QB are on the way either way. Growing pains next year either way. Why tie are selves to a coach who might not be all that great. Carolina's defense got better after he left. Our defense is about the same or worse haven't checked but Rex didn't set a high bar of achievement so either way not all that great. The defense played well in 66% of the games this year? Great. But they played like crap in the 33% that will be a big reason why the team misses the playoffs again among other reasons as well. -

The only bright spots on this team are McCoy, the secondary and our Kicker. You don't get blown out in 4 or the last five games including giving up 45 ppg in a three game stretch, and a bizzillion rushing yards by only having a train wreck at QB. My entire point is why should it be set in stone that McDermott and company get a second year? People are already calling to replace the OC. Calling to draft a rookie QB. I agree with both those things. And the thing is, that actually makes it a perfect situation to move on from McDermott if we want to. And with the defense being historically bad at times this year why not move on? -

Because Dennison was the reason we couldn't force a punt for a game and a half? Or can't stop anyone's running game outside of the Chiefs? Dennison is a problem but he's far from McDermott's one major mistake. Yes, we've lost to some good teams, well except for the Jets, but we are also losing these games terribly. Not even competitive. Jets played the Patriots tough like we should have. -

Even if they select the right QB this time, you seriously trust this staff and coach to get the most out of the team? Four blow out losses out of the last five. At least the Jets are losing close games. This team is a train wreck. I don't want to wait and find out if it is because the coach is clueless or not. We don't lose anything by cutting our ties now, especially if we do draft a rookie QB. New QB, new system, new coach. -

Are you impressed with four of the last five games being blow out losses.? The terrible defense and terrible offense? His eye for the QB position in selecting Peterman over guys like Watson and Mahomes? I'm not confident at all that McDermott will be the guy to put a staff together that can develop a young QB like the Rams and Eagles have done. Let's cut our losses now before we get in too deep. Gonna have a new QB next year anyway and the defense is bad already so another coaching and scheme change won't have a negative effect. You are right. It is unusual to be blown out in four out of five games. To have a rookie QB make his first start on the road against a fierce pass rush and throw 5 INTs in a half. To get run over and over again in the ground game. Interesting and unusual indeed. Let's cut our losses now before we let these guys run the draft again and ruin our rookie QB next year. -
2x1st Round Draft Picks
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Tatonka68's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't forget about the 49ers and Bears too as trade partners. And maybe Denver nabs Eli and they draft an OT? -
Gaines is good. Great to have him back in the lineup. But I do think there is quite a bit of coincidence to his being out and the defensive struggles. Hopefully the defense will be solid the final 5 games regardless of who is in and out. I want to think that that 3 game nightmare stretch in November was just a bad anomaly and not what the defense will be finishing the season..

Hypothetically if Giants release Manning

He only plays well in the playoffs and we can't make the playoffs. Doesn't seem like a good fit. -
2x1st Round Draft Picks
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Tatonka68's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That looks good for this draft but the 2019 draft would suck because you forgot to figure that we would have to give up our 2019 1st and 2019 3rd. Possibly even more if the 1st round pick we trade is higher than #15 which is probably likely (17-20). Of course this assumes we move all the way up to #2 with a team like the 49ers. -
Bills miss Post Season and ruin draft status.

Colts and Bengals are not push overs. They haven't been all year. Ravens are 6-5 just like us because they are not immune to losing games to teams like the Colts and Bengals. -
Worse Loses in Bills History
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Foreigner's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That was a big loss at the time, but as things played out, Bills still would have loss a tiebreaker to Baltimore at 10-6 to miss the playoffs that year. And that included a gift win against the Patriots week 17 when Brady only played the first half and many others sat. Another loss that same year but much earlier in the season was the week four loss at Houston. Bills were in complete control of that game until EJ threw the pick six to Watt. We were in easy FG range so that was at minimum a 10 point swing in a game we ended up losing by less than a TD. -

No doubt. Even just a 1-3 Super Bowl record would have much different feel. A positive feel really. As it is now, when people bring up the Super Bowl years it is sadly mostly in a negative way. Heck, we go 2-2 in those four appearances and we have legitimate claim to greatest dynasty ever with being the only team to go to four straight. Oh man. -
It's still not realistic even if we win on Sunday. Even if we win tomorrow this team doesn't give me confidence that they can sweep the Dolphins. That said, I actually like our chances tomorrow. Just a gut feeling feeling though. Usually not real confident going against the Patriots but this time feels different. One of the crazy scenarios I saw on the playoff machine has us 10-5 going into the week 17 game at Miami. If we win that game we take the #2 seed and first round bye. If we lose that game and finish 10-6 we miss the playoffs all together. Crazy scenario because it assumes the Pats lose to us twice plus another team. Also assumes the Ravens win out.

Not to mention as well that same dopey ranking has Aaron Rodgers somehow ranked 17th before his injury. And for those comparing the Giants situation to ours all I can say is really? One team is battling for a top three pick. The other is battling for the 5th or 6th seed in the playoffs still. Heck, they win tomorrow they are still battling for the division. There is no comparison.

The new website gives notifications when one of my posts is quoted so it was no work at all to find your post. All I am saying is I don't read through all of the pages of a thread to and then go back and respond to individual posters. That would be a waste of time. I respond as I read them. I'm sure many others here do the same. At any rate, my apologies for being rude. Water under the bridge.

afc schedules going forward
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to billsredneck1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think most people are looking at Baltimore and are banking on Steelers and Detroit being losses. But I also think both Indy and Cincy are much tougher games than for the Ravens than one would initially think. I think the Ravens lose at least one of those two games. But then again, they also might actually split with Detroit and Pittsburgh.
