Cousins is a smallish QB that is going to be 30 next season. I say pass. Let's get a 22 year old rookie that we can have for 15 seasons. I'd question how well Cousins will hold up into his mid 30's.

Starting Taylor is the right decision. Despite his issues he still gives us the best chance to win this week. He just better not have another one of the 50 yard first half performances. If he does, if Peterman passes protocol I would put him in for the second half.

He has played better than Tyrod but he isn't great. It is why I hate the rush to judge QBs just on their most recent season. I actually think the Colin Cowherd theory of once a QB has played in their league for 5 years then throw out their best year and throw out their worst year what you are left with is probably what they are.
Pretty much this.
Remember how great Fitzpatrick was his first year with the Jets. McCown is basically duplicating what Fitz did that year.

I know I'm in the minority but I want the lines built before getting that franchise guy.
If he is there you just got to get him. Rams worried about the line year two with Goff and they are doing fine now.

There is an option for Don’t Care. It’s called not voting in the poll.
Thing is, I'd like to vote but my option is not available. I do care about the poll. I just don't have a viable option to choose.

We need a fourth option in the poll: Don't care.

Lee Evans shouldn't be on the list. He just wasn't a very good player. More of a one trick pony. And he could only do that trick for a few years. If he was good he would have stuck around beyond age 30. He only played 8 seasons in the NFL and I don't believe he retired due to injury.

So, Mike Mularkey stays on the list of the coaches that got away, just like Antoine Winfield is the first name on the list of outstanding players that the Bills let get away even if he left more than a dozen years ago.
Nah, that's Jason Peters. Future HOFer.

In your Titans scenario, if both the Bills and Titans finish 9-7 (highly unlikely because the Titans would have to implode with 1-3 finish) the Titans one of the three losses would have to come against the Jags. That is the only way we would finish with a better conference record then the Titans.
In you other scenario it probably comes down to common games. I believe all three teams would have 7-5 conference records.

Break the bank for Cousins. Draft a top WR, and a O line man round 1 to entice him to come. Use remaining basket of picks to augment team in areas such as LB, or DT, hope for later round quality at RB. Savings from rookie contracts fund Cousins pick up.
Cousins is going to be 30 at the start of next season though. Because he isn't an elite talent and not all that big for a QB he could be finished at say 35. Do we really want to invest so much into a QB that might only have 5 good years left in him? We draft the right rookie, and at 22 years old he could be with us for 15 years.

but perhaps later in the game if the same thing happened they might not call it the same way after reviewing that one. He said there wasn’t much downside to the challenge.
LOL. What are the odds of that happening again to Brady in the same game?

This is complete and utter nonsense. That challenge was to hopefully get the refs to see the clear and ditinct intentional grounding.
That's not even review-able so if that was what our Coach was hoping for we are in even worst shape.

The Jets are a team playing hard for their coach. They are one game back of us and are a team that is supposed to be lacking in talent even more than us. We've been blown out in four of our last five games. Jets have been blown out in one game all year.

Mularkey, Marrone, and Lynn seem poised to create a new category of Bills HC -- the good ones the Bills let get away.
I'd cut the Bills slack with Mularkey. It was well over a decade ago when he coached here. He's bounced around quite a bit since then and it looks like only now he might actually make the playoffs in a weak division. Both the Jags and Texans are lucky the rookie in Houston got injured.

Assuming Rosen and Darnold are gone/unreachable and assuming the Bills have very similar grades on Mayfield, Jackson and Rudolph it would likely be wise to just wait till at least one of the remaining three is gone and then make you move up to draft the one you like. Personally I'm really liking Mayfield as the third best QB in this draft. You see the fire that Brady has. Mayfield is the only QB in this draft that could bring the same fire.

Hey the didn't lose by 40. Defense played great and got worn out. I think he knows they need new QB/Offensive coordinator.
The old worn out argument. How are you worn out after a 15 minute break at the half?

I've said repeatedly Gronks play was stupid and dangerous. I do not believe it was done with intent to injure however, I do believe he wanted to hit him because he was pissed off.
I don't even think intent to injure or not even matters. Just can't have a bozo like that out on the field. Burfcit shouldn't even be in the league anymore. League has some series issues they need to clean up.

As it should.
What Gronk did does not compare. Not even in the same universe.
So then asking for just 5 games is just. We aren't asking to end his career or suspend him indefinitely.
-
3 minutes ago, Gugny said:
That's never going to happen. Gronk has been squeaky clean his entire career. He screwed up. But I don't think an unprecedented suspension is in order. Players get far less for actually assaulting women who aren't wearing pads and helmets.
Unless video surfaces of the assault, then said player is suspended indefinitely (Ray Rice). We have video of this and it was an unprecedented act on the field while play was stopped. I don't see anything wrong with 5 games. I know it won't happen but it's wishful thinking.

I agree with this. My knee-jerk reaction was to toss him from the game, fine him and suspend him for a game. But I like the idea of a suspension for the remainder of the regular season and a mammoth fine.
I'd add in at least one post-season game suspension too. It's just unbelievably malicious watching that replay. Say a five game suspension in total which would go into the Pats first playoff game.
-
Man watching the replay is even worst. Watching it live I though he got him in the middle of the back (still really bad). But that's straight to the friggen back of his head. We are actually pretty lucky the injury is only a concussion. Very easily could have been some damage to the C-vertebrae. Hopefully the league office can use common sense hear and suspend him for multiple games and give out a fine much larger than usual.

I wouldn't trade the house for a QB, he will likely fail because of his supporting cast. If one falls to us in the 1st, absolutely go for it. Not to state the obvious at this point but I think we should move on from Taylor and add a veteran QB as a bridge to the rookie QB. I'd keep my eye on Minnesota, Teddy Bridgewater and Sam Bradford would be an excellent option for the short term.
I'd also take a look at McCown if the Jets decided to go only with a rookie QB next year.

McDermott should take notice and walk away after this season.
7 minutes ago, BigDingus said:Just look at this board. We have people already calling to fire Dennison & McDermott.... They try to justify it through some mental gymnastics. One thing's for sure - if we fired them before the end of their first season, we'd be guaranteed to only have the bottom of the barrel of coaches willing to come here. Nobody worth a damn would even step foot in this toxic environment with such a short leash.
That's probably the best and only reason to keep McDermott by the time the season ends. It's an unfortunate catch 22. You want to get rid of the guy because he sucks and you have no faith in his process but if you get rid of him you won't be able to get a good coach. Got to swallow the pill and ride it out for one more year at least.

Will you ever stop trolling with hypothetical questions after the brand new regimes first 12 games?
I mean who can ever answer those speculative and bizarre questions after barely half a season
Yeah. Assuming the team competes, they don't get blown out for a quarter of a season. At least one side of the ball is good. And we see improvement as the season goes on. That's probably the biggest disappointment. We started hot, in some part due to an incredible amount of takeaways that were not sustainable, and now the bottom has fallen out on both sides of the ball. And again, it will be different next year simply because we will have, hopefully, a rookie QB. I'd be more inclined to give a coach more time with a rookie QB. But i really think seeing what the Eagles and Rams have done, we need to at least consider going that route at the HC and DC positions.

Exactly this. The 5-2 start was probably the worst thing for McDermott. I fully expect him to be here next season but the pressure will immediately be on him from the first game. A 3-13 season with a 1-4 start would have cooled expectations and he wouldn't be graded on how the team fell apart this year.
