  1. Yeah but at least we punted well back then.
  2. At least 80% of the board didn't like the pick so that's not a shocker. Probably even closer to 90%. Of course after the Vikings game 99% of the board said they liked the pick. It probably stands around 50/50 now i guess. Peterson or Anderson, I highly doubt it matters at this point. Anderson through 2 INTs in each of the last two games he started. And that was two seasons ago. Got to imagine his skill set has only declined considerably since then. Did he at least go through a full training camp this past off-season?
  3. Again, sounds like excuses are being made for Allen's poor play. I'm not even asking the guy to be good or average. Just show me slightly below average and I'll be happy. I'm not at all okay with way below average which Allen is. Nobody should be. But I guess we can just make excuse after excuse. The only hope we have is we can our coach after the season and bring in a Reid, Sean Payton, Pederson, Shannhan, McVay type to take over. A guy that knows how to build an offense based on personnel and play design. I was shocked as was just about everyone else at the turn around Goff had with a new coach. Maybe that can happen for Allen. But let's face it, odds are not great at all that it will happen. But at this point, McDermott has to go because it's the only way it will actually have a chance to happen. And that kind of kills me because McDermott has put one heck of a defense on the field. But a good QB trumps a good defense.
  4. Problem with CTC is if you eat too much of it (guilty) you feel sick afterwards. I don't get the same feeling with GG. I'd move GG up to number 1 for that reason. HNC just isn't sweet enough unless you add more honey to it. But it also leaves you with sick feeling afterwards after the 4th bowl.
  5. This thread is for Hot Takes only please.
  6. So coaching and teammates has been the problem since Kelly retired? Or is it more likely we just haven't had a good QB in that time span? Again, I'm not making excuses. A good QB will rise to the top regardless of circumstances. Sure coaching and personnel can help. But you either have it or you don't as well. Let's just find a guy that has it. Enough of the excuses.
  7. I clearly remember him completing either a slant or post pattern on a third down. It was about 15 yards i think? It was a big completion I recall.
  8. That's all hypothetical. The only thing that is true that we have to go off of are the raw stats. I'm done with making excuses for our bad QBs. Just put up good numbers, heck I'll even take slightly below average for a rookie season.
  9. Is Peterman's best pass the 10-15 yard slant/post? We need to run the ball at 3:1 ratio and throw only slants. And at least if we throw a slant or post the defender likely gets tackled if he makes the pick.
  10. Even if we go ahead and give him an extra 100 yards on the season his YPA jumps to 6.7 which is still a .25 of a point below Mayfield and Rosen. And both those QBs would still be outperforming Allen in TD%, Int% and sack %. The sack % isn't even close.
  11. I'm curious if these 3rd down stats are still skewed by the first 1.5 games played to start the season. The further we get away from those games the better the numbers keep getting. Take away the first 1.5 games and the pick six and the defense is giving up something like 13 ppg. And this is all while being supported, or dragged down, by the worst offense in the league. The defense has simply been amazing considering the start to the season and the lack of offensive support. Overrated? Well, #3 is a very high ranking so i guess you could ague they are overrated. Where would you rank them top 10 still? Still not bad if so. I think the fact that they don't get any support from the offense actually makes it harder to say they are over rated though. And while the PI in the endzone hurt us, they did exactly what a great defense would be expected to do after that penalty. If the defense is a fraud the Texans score a TD there.
  12. Let's be real here. Allen is supported by the 3rd ranked defense in the league. The other guys are supported, or dragged down, by defenses ranked 28th, 22nd and 19th.
  13. If you think Allen is in the same zip code of the other 3 rookies I don't know what to tell you. His QB rating is a whole 11 points lower than the next worst rookie. That is an astronomical gap. It would be no big deal if we were talking 70 vs 81. But 61 vs 72 is alarming. Sure the completions percentages are on par with Mayfield and Rosen but so what. He has one bad metric that is on par with those guys? What about ypa, sack rate, TD/INT percentage? Allen is woefully behind in all of those. I'm done with making excuses for players. After 20 some years of futility at the QB position I'm not going to look for excuses to explain why a guy is actually better than his dreadful numbers show.
  14. Allen has to keep playing this year. We have to find out what we have in Allen because we very well may need to take a QB high in this coming draft. Even if it is not for a starter, we have no viable back up QB for the 2019 season. Anderson? Peterman? They can't be options moving forward? We might take a guy early in the second round who can be a back up and also compete with Allen. We have no idea what Anderson will do if he plays. He's thrown 2ints in each of his last two starts and those were two seasons ago at the age of 33. Now he is 35. He very well might not be any better than Peterman. I believe Peterman will start on Sunday. I don't think McDermott ever considered the Anderson signing as more that a guy that will show both Allen and Peterman how to get ready during the week. Nobody was more excited for Peterman to throw the TD to Zay Jones than McDermott. It would have justified McDermott's decision to keep trotting Peterman out there. Instead, McDermott will continue to trot Peterman out there but with continued heavy criticism.
  15. Simple. See Von Miller's interception of Tom Brady in the AFC Championship Game a few years back. You don't want to do it all the time, but a good defense will sprinkle it in from time to time. It's not something a QB would expect which can be a good thing.
  16. Beane and McDermott might also want to see how Ivory does with 12+ carries too. See if he can have another strong game.
  17. I'm hoping they trade for Bell as I have been stashing him on bench in Fantasy Football for weeks now.
  18. In other news, water is wet.
  19. What do you not get old man? That's exactly why i said " i see zero chance of that happening". Pegula knows less than McDermott and Beane. And with Beane and McDermott connected at the him neither is going to fire the other or request for one to be fired. Pegula will not dismiss either until after the 2019 season at the earliest. Also, I think you missed where I said I am willing to give McDermott and Beane a pass for now because the defense is playing so well. If this defensive unit can finish the season as a top 10 unit the 2019 Bills could very well be the 2018 Bears. Sorry if I am still extremely worried about the offense long term but I don't think that is irrational fear or out of line in anyway.
  20. Grew up in SLO county. Left six years ago for the lovely desert climate of Bakersfield.
  21. I agree. But after the debacle of the Green Bay game it was encouraging to just see the offense not shoot themselves in the foot time and time again. He left some plays on the field that he could have made but he also largely wasn't asked to do much. Which for now is probably the correct game plan. Ask him to do too much and we might see another game like the Green Bay game.
  22. 805 is the Central Coast. Not SoCal. Just saying. I have to give them a pass right now with the defense playing so well. But with that said, this is a QB driven league. And I'd have no problem moving on after this season if Pegula feels like they won't be able to develop Allen. Problem is, I see zero chance of that happening. And Beane and McDermott seem to be connected at the hip. They either both stay or both go. I don't think either goes. My gut feeling is these guys have no idea how to put together an offense, how to develop a QB or how to even recognize a good one (see Peterman and questionable drafting of Allen). With that being the case, McDermott has gotten a lot out of this defense without any offensive support at all for two straight years now. Hopefully they have already had their bad games with weeks 1 and 2 and we won't go through a similar mid-season meltdown like we saw last year against the Jets, Saints and Chargers. People have mentioned before following the blue print of the Bears. Let's hope so. I'd like to see this defense finish the season as a top 10 unit and then add a dominant pass rusher in the draft. Maybe not Bosa now though since we already have two wins under our belt and it's not even Halloween yet.
  23. If I am Daboll and McDermott I hope to call the offense like this every Sunday. It won't always be the case because we won't be leading the entire game like this one but I would try to make plays simple for Allen to read and rely on the ground game. Take your risks when you have the chance on the opponents side of the 50 on 4th down. Let your defense create turnovers which we know they are capable of doing whether it is Kirk Cousins, Aaron Rodgers or Marriota. Best call and play of the game for the offense was the first down completion to McCloud to ice the game.
  24. So far the recipe has been just like last years. Clutch kicking, defense playing well and winning the turnover battle. The defense didn't always play well last year as we know and so far this year they already had a couple of stinkers but they've been great since those games. Hopefully it keeps up. Offense so far is worst than last years but the defense might actually be much improved this year which could lead to 6 or even 8 wins which would be very surprising.
  25. Are you betting against the Bills in the next three?
