I like Peterman over what I have seen out of Anderson. 9 offensive points in 8 quarters? Really only six beacuse 3pts were set up by a Hyde punt return. Peterman at least got us 7pts in one quarter in his last outing. I know the guy is prone to the turnover to say the least but I also can't deny the fact that he moves the ball better than Anderson. I'm willing to roll the dice with Peterman again. One of these days he is bound to have a game where he limits his turnovers. He's 1-0 as a starter at home. Maybe he can make it 2-0? Or at least covering the spread would be nice.

McD would love Derek Carr.
-
I believe Peterman has a 1-0 record as a starter at home. Unfortunately he's playing the league's #1 defense this week. Maybe the 4th or 5th time is the charm for him.

What was Belicheck's record with Cassell? 11-5? Garrapollo was 2-0 as a starter? Belicheck is a great coach because he is good at what he does. It's why Brady has 5 rings and Peyton only has two. Both QBs are great but one also was supported by a great coach. Carrol won because of a historically great defense. They were the #1 ppg defense for four straight years I think? Wilson is good but he's not on the great level until he consistently wins and plays well with a mediocre defense like Rodgers has most his career. Ried has made the playoffs virtually every year of his career. Mahomes is lighting it up in only his second season and first year starting. Reid is a great Head Coach who identifies good QBs and get's the most out of them. McVay appears to be of the same mold.

McVay and Reid are Doer's. What I mean by that is they recognize where they are deficient on offense and they don't hesitate to bring in the correct personnel to make it work. They would never stand having such terrible personnel. So add a couple of upgrades to the roster on offense and better game planning and play calling and we wouldn't be on pace to be the worst offense in the modern era.

x100 Shaw is a great choice. And I would pay him just about anything south of Jon Gruden numbers. I think David Shaw is your answer OP. Only problem is I feel like Shaw has been a top candidate for several years now and has probably already declined several HC gigs. Hard to imagine he would take a job in Buffalo. And it wouldn't help if we canned our current coach after two seasons. And the one before that was canned before he finished his third season. We essentially already have our version of Gruden in Beane and McDermottt. They gutted the roster of talent but at a much cheaper management cost. So we do have that going for us.

What was Jeff Fischer's problem then? Did Goff really improve that much from year one to year two just by himself? How about Andy Reid? Every sing QB he has ever had has been good? Is he just lucky or does he know a good QB when he sees one? Meanwhile our HC believe's Peterman and one of the biggest projects to come out in a long time is the answer. I agree with the OP that right now we don't have any obvious names that jump out as guys you want to build your offense. But usually those names start to materialize towards the end of the season and playoffs so we will have to re-evaluate at the end of the year. With the defnese playing well, rather than fire McDermott I would rather see us bring in an OC that has a great track record and head coach persona. Similar to how the Rams are run with McVay and Wade Phiilips. Give the OC total control of the offensive roster. The only guy that immediately comes to mind right now is Norv Turner. Norv has been getting praise for what he is doing with Cam Newton and the Panthers this year. I would prefer a young OC just not sure who that is at the moment. Exactly why we need our version of Wade Phillips for our offense. A guy who will be pretty much Head Coach B to McDermott's Head Coach A. A guy that can make all the decisions on that side of the ball. A guy that still wants to game plan but not have to deal with all the other BS of being a head coach. Of course we may have to pay him like he is a head coach. I love the idea of Mike Shanahan as an OC for us. He could possibly fit as a guy that wants to game plan and call plays but not deal with the every minute of the day stress of being a HC. He would undoubtedly want to be paid like a head coach but I would be fine with that. Schottenheimer is 75, 9 years older than both Norv Turner and Shanahan. I think he is done coaching. The other two would only come to be Head Coach's. I would love David Shaw even if it means restarting from ground zero with our defense. I don't think Jim Harbaugh is worth having to potentially start over with our defense.

Just have to write this out to believe it (QBs)

Not a big deal but OP how could you get the number of starts for Allen and Peterman so wrong? 3 starts for Allen? You are docking him almost half the games he has started. That immediately looked wrong when I saw it. -
Gambling 101 Bills line

I actually don't watch much football at all outside of the Bills. Don't have the time anymore. I've always been better than average at just picking straight up winners in pick em leagues. I know that is not the same as picking spreads but I think it helps in some instances. Especially if you have a feel on an underdog pulling an upset. I'm also realizing the most important trait is knowing what NOT to wager on. Those games you just want to say pass on. -

I wouldn't say easy money as the game played out but it was the smart play. I had it as part of my four team parlay this week that hit. I had Eagles -4, Colts -3, Packers +9.5 and Pats -13.5 I've started a red hot 7 out of 8 for my gambling career. Beginners luck I am sure. -

I'm new to football betting. Placed my first bet last weekend. Just missed my 5 team parlay that would have paid out $600. Had Houston +4, Pats -2, Vikings -3.5, Bills/Colts Under 43 (sweated that out) and Cowboys -1.5 screwed me in the late game. I'm curious about your teaser. Those spreads are unreal. Can't imagine you win much at all when those hit. Is it like bet $100 to win $20? -
I've placed two bets on the Pats blowing out the Bills on Monday Night which of course means our defense will show up and it will be a sloppy game that the Pats squeak out 19-13 on the road. Anderson throws an INT in the final minute to seal the victory for the Patriots.

Media trying to get McDermott fired.
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's one thing to be bad. It's another to field the worst offense the league has ever seen. Nobody expected to be this bad on that side of the ball. With Whaley's players. -

Rebuild? Rebuild to what? I will believe it when I see it. Do you really have faith that McDermott and Beane have any clue how to build a good offense? The same duo that has been duped into thinking Peterman is the right answer how many times now? If they can't make an easy evaluation to move on from Peterman how can they make the tougher evaluations? Their level of QB scouting is on the John Elway level of bad. -
I think it is an easy decision that Anderson will remain the starter if we win a couple games with him and he looks competent. But if we win games in spite of Anderson we might go back to Allen. Hoping Anderson capitalizes off of the defenses turnovers is asking a lot I think. Let's start with him just not turning the ball over himself. Four picks in his last two starts two seasons ago.

I'm starting Shepard as well actually. I have two WRs on byes. I actually have both Rivers and Watson available. But they are playing top 10 pass defenses. Eli is playing the 31st ranked pass defense that has given up 3 or more passing TDs in 5 consecutive games and 300+ passing yards in 4 of their last five games.

Derek Anderson to start vs Colts
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree. But darn it, he'll sure try. -
This defense has a perfect combination of young and old players all over the roster. Two very young and talented linebackers and one old as dirt vet still playing with everything he has. Same with the d-line. One young DT and one very old but still good. Veteran safeties and very young CBs. It seems like the perfect recipe for this season.
