Maybe so but we can also question Fitz being on the list too then. Personally I rank Flutie much higher than Fitz and Tyrod but even if we group them in the same group they are in that group between "Jim Kelly and Joe Ferguson" and "not your typical terrible Bills QB". Then you have Drew Bledose who was basically "your typical terrible Bills QB" for all but one year. But that one year he just so happened to set all the team records. Yeah. That is probably the biggest head scratcher of all.

I don't know what to make of these lists. Sometimes they are depressing seeing some of the names that are thought to be top 100 for our team. But I guess when you break it down to a single team many other teams would have similar names where you are thinking "that bum made a top 100 list"? I think Flutie is getting shafted. Would switch Flutie with Fitzpratrick. And with both of them on the list we couldn't find a spot for Tyrod? Just remove Chris Kelsay... Chris Kelsay, man forgot how terrible he was, 32.5 sacks in 10 years with us? A whopping 3.2 sacks a year. Lee Evans ahead of Fred Jackson?! I know it only by a few spots but that looks like a glaring mistake to me. Gilmore (#28) that much better than Nate Clements (#45)? Nate has the superior stats as a Bill across the board. Feel like they are letting recency bias and what Gilmore went on to do in New England compared to Nate not doing much at all in San Francisco weigh in on the ranking. Gilmore might be the better player overall when looking at their entire careers but this is supposed to be looking at just their careers as Bills. Otherwise T.O. and Jason Peters would obviously would both be top 10 on this list. Glad to see Beast Mode absent from the list. Had a very good NFL career just didn't do much at all for us in his short time here. I don't have much argument of the top 10.

10 observations Bills v. Panthers

He still shows his wiggle and ability in the passing game where he picked up a first down pretty much by himself. -

I'm still a little worried about the o-line. I feel like the best thing we can say about them is that they won't be any worse that last years line. But that doesn't mean much. Hopefully Allen improving in the passing game will help open things up in the running game. -
"Slow down, it's only preseason"

Beasley on track to be the greatest Bills free agent signing in two decades or more? There has been a lot of talk about Allen's completion percentage after a 52% season last year. Bills have been working a lot of underneath stuff to Beasley and the RB's with great success. And Allen is still making some nice throws deeper down the field to Sweaney. If we see a significant increase in the underneath throws and Allen and Beasley continue to be on the same page in the regular season then Allen should easily jump up to 59%-60% completion or perhaps higher. I still do expect him to take a lot of deep shots down the field too but maybe not lead the league. -
It's far more likely he is forever compared to QB's taken in his 2018 draft class. At any rate I think Allen is going to be a franchise QB for us so it's a moot point.

Future of the Bills Run Game

This feels like the year we released Fred Jackson. Hope I am wrong but I think we see a surprise cut or trade with either Gore or Shady. I hated the Fred Jackson cut at the time. I thought he had at least one more solid year with us. -
Baldy breaks down Oliver vs Nelson
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to JerseyBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah closer to 30 makes more sense in today's world. Most people are not having kids at 18-20 years old. But if you look at the commonly defined spreads of for Gen X,Y,Z etc. they are usually up to 20 years but not longer. -

At worst you should be in the conversation for best ever if you are the best of a generation. Generation is thought of as about 15-20 years typically. Think, baby boomers, generation X, millenials, generation Z etc. Really in our more modern society it should be thought of as about 25-35 years with couples often waiting to their late 20's start families now. -
How is it you can get Sunday Ticket by streaming? Don't they have a bunch of restrictions on that? Like you have to live in an apartment complex that doesn't allow satellites or be a college student in a dorm room? So basically a minuscule percentage of the population is eligible to stream Sunday Ticket that way without an actual DirecTV subscription.

I watched the about the last five minutes of the Lions game on a Reddit stream on my phone last year and was shocked how well the stream came in without interruption. And this was while riding passenger in a car through some desolate areas. I think DirecTV is really screwing up here. Majority of NFL viewers under the age of 30 probably watch via streaming, legal or otherwise. Now with all this crap going on they are going to push the older folks to these streaming platforms more quickly.

LMAO. Good thing I read this now rather than in the morning with my coffee or I would have had to buy a new laptop.

Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-Season Game 1
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Oh yeah. We definitely will be. Some will never be content unless he's throwing for 275 ypg and two TD's every game. -
Maybe i put my foot in my mouth saying Foster had one good season. But if we are arguing who is better Foster vs. Zay, neither has had a good full season. Zay has two full seasons under his belt and hasn't even had a 5 or 6 game stretch in either of the two seasons where he looked good. Foster at least has. Even if it was a small sample size and only for 5 games or so. Touting Zay as some sort of leader of the Bills receiving core with totals of 650 yards and 55 receptions or whatever it is doesn't benefit Zay in a good way.
-
I don't know if he has a legit #1 guy type skill set. But he does have a skill set. He's might be similar to John Brown for instance. Decent player but not going to confuse him with a #1 WR. The bottom line is Brown and Foster are the only guys on the roster that can take the top off the defense. If Foster is cut all we have is Brown while presumably we would have Beasley, McCloud, McKenzie and Zay all with similar skill sets. I don't see Foster getting cut even if he running with the threes.
-
Cherry picking nothing. The numbers are what they are. Foster contributed at least as much value as Zay did on a per game basis. Doesn't matter if the yards would have come in even a single 41 yard catch per game. Zay caught 1.7 more receptions per game but was targeted with 3.5 more receptions per game. By that spread Zay should have caught far more than the 56 receptions he had on the season. People are usually done when they realize their argument, that Zay somehow has had a good season, is blown to bits.

Well you can't compare fairly completion percentages from the 80's to today's NFL though. -
I'm also not making anything up. Foster averaged more yards per game than Zay. And all in his first year in the NFL which is typically a large learning curve for a receiver. Higher catch percentage on a far greater ypc. Maybe it is generous to say Foster had a good year last year. But Zay hasn't sniffed a good year in the NFL in two seasons either.
-
Not on a yards per game basis. Foster averaged more yards per game once he came back. Also had a higher reception average and catch percentage despite being asked to run deeper routes. At best we can make an argument for Zay that neither has had a good year in the NFL. But that isn't really a great argument since Zay has had more chances to prove himself.
-
It's possible that they want to get a better look at McKenzie and McCloud. That's the real battle right there. No way both make the team. They might see Foster as a lock and want to work both McCloud and McKenzie with the one's and two's to better judge them. At least that is what I hope is going on.
-
Foster has had one good season in the NFL. Zay has had 0. I don't see how we cut Foster who is the only QB on the roster with experience playing with Allen who also plays to Allen's strength's as a deep ball passer. If we cut Foster all we have is Brown. If Brown gets banged up and misses some games we have nobody. On the flip side if Beasley goes down we have either McCloud, Zay, or McKenzie that can fill the same role.

Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-Season Game 1
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cam Newton has alway been around a career 59.0% completion percentage guy. But last year he jumped to 68%. McCaffery also caught 107 balls out of the backfield. I'd be curious to find out the difference between Cam's average air yards per attempt from 2018 compared to his other seasons. Also Cam had an MVP season completing just under 60% of his passes. So we know a QB can still dominate with a low completion percentage. That said, 52% is probably not going to cut it unless Allen is unbelievable in other areas or the defense is ridiculously good. Hopefully we see him around 58-59% this year. -
Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-Season Game 1

These rules always seem to be interrupted differently or changing so I have no idea. Zay is certainly defenseless. And the defender delivers a direct elbow to his head/neck area. Is it because Zay is going to the ground (making it difficult for the DB to anticipate the target zone) that no flag was thrown or did the refs just miss it?
