  1. Cool timeline. But how are you only a fan since '88? I'm a fan since about '90 when I was six and must be about 15 years younger than yourself.
  2. I never understood why the Redskins were being praised for taking Haskins at 16 while the Giants were being criticized for drafting Jones at 6. In today's NFL, the key recently to drafting QB's has been to trade up and go get them or take them early. Sure, Haskins was viewed as decent value pick at 16. But if you are the Giants and you truly believe in Haskins as a franchise guy you have to move up to get him. Even if that means just jumping from 16 down to 12. Do something to ensure that you get your franchise QB. What the Redskins told us by not moving up to draft Haskins was that they really do not have that much conviction in him. Sure we will take him if he is still there at 16 but if not, oh well, onto plan B. It is similar to how we messed up the whole EJ Manuel draft. Sure, at the time it looked like great value to trade down from 8 to 16, gain extra picks and still get the pick of the first QB off the board. But it told us that the Bills really didn't have that much conviction in EJ if they were willing to risk not getting him at all.
  3. Simplest answer is only if he costs us more games then he wins. So far he is 3-1 in that regard so the answer is easily no at this point.
  4. I think I agree. The guy that would probably make a bigger impact would be Emanuel Sanders. It would be like having two John Browns running around out there. I would kick the tires on Sanders.
  5. And Allen had been passing for 250+ and completing over 60%. Which for Allen was a great improvement over last year/his first six games. That is something that you want to see. Is the guy improving? Then he ran into a buzz saw last week. The New England Patritos defense which is literally on the greatest 5 game run dating back to last years super bowl that the league has ever seen. And heck, Allen and all of his rawness was the only QB to score a TD and lead their offense to double digit point against the Patriots defense during that stretch. Not Goff and the Rams offense. Not Big Ben. And well, certainly not any of the other garbage the Pats played. But still.
  6. If you are losing faith in Allen the the truth is you never understood what kind of QB he is and never had any real conviction in him to begin with. I've been saying since the Jets game that this is who Allen is. And again after the Bengals. Great examples of our hearts being ripped out momentarily but then Allen leading us to victory. He will rip your heart out multiple times but he will also lead the team to glory. Last week was a rip your heart out game. No doubt about. But let's not over react. It was game against a team that has been punking us for two decades now and has a defense playing at a historically great level dating back to last yeas Super Bowl where they made the Rams offense look like the Trent Dilfer led Ravens. If heaving the ball into double and triple coverage and being picked off multiple times a game becomes the norm AND Allen stops producing scoring drives then I will have an issue and have to reconsider my thoughts on the kid. But for now I am totally fine with Allen and fully expected games (plural) like last weeks. But I expect to see more games like the first three. And yes, that includes the Jets game where the turnovers were more flukey in nature and Allen was moving the ball exceptionally well and was able to do what he does best in the fourth quarter.
  7. The biggest difference is Josh Allen far exceeded everyone's expectations as an athlete on the field. Even Beane and McDermott probably didn't realize he was THIS GOOD running with the ball. On the other hand, EJ was underwhelming as a runner and did not meet expectations. As others have mentioned, EJ may have had slower eyes than Allen too. Something Allen still needs to work on himself. The only thing EJ has Allen beat on is EJ won't throw a ton of picks trying to play hero ball, but that also means EJ is very unlikely to end a game in the hero roll. Where as Allen has already played that roll several times in his young career.
  8. You are wrong. Allen has been trending in the right direction ever since coming back from injury and finishing the final six games of the season last year. He had one terrible game last week against a historically great defense. One game does not make a season or a career. When did EJ Manuel ever improve? Ever show promise? I could be wrong but I don't think there was any point EJ's career where we could break down his starts in splits and see improvement from his first 6 games to his last 8. We can with Allen. And none of this even considers what they bring with their athleticism. EJ was not an athlete like Allen is. If Allen did not have his athleticism and those talents that he brings to the game he would not be as good of a QB. But he does so that is a moot point. There is some truth to that but heck Russell Wilson was already on a hall of fame trajectory before he became a legitimate franchise QB with the defenses he had in Seattle which were even better than the one here in Buffalo. There is no rule that says he can't win now, gain experience and become the legitimate franchise QB we want in the future down the road.
  9. We know New England has a very good defense. They were good last year. Great in the Super Bowl. But it's just really hard to gauge how great they are this year. The stats suggest they are historically great but they just drew in back to back weeks two of the worst offenses we have seen in quite a long time. I mean the Jets are playing a third string quarterback. They are actually a competent team when Darnold is on the field as we saw in week one. And we still handled Darnold and that offense just fine. Imagine if our D got to feast on Luke Falk. 12 of those 13 sacks have come against Rosen/Fitz and Falk.
  10. Can we get our hands on Brady's balls this week? Scratch that. I mean, can we tip some of his passes like we have been doing with regular success against our first three opponents. We know one of Brady's hallmarks is getting the ball out quickly. I home our entire D-line continues their success of tipping passes in this game.
  11. I prefer this idea too. And also possibly adding a 7th playoff team. Only the #1 seed in each conference would get a bye week. But i am not sure how much extra revenue would be added. The number of games played is the same with the exception of one additional playoff game. You can schedule three more prime time games with the extra by week but they are just games that switch from regular broadcast to prime time so how much extra revenue do you get there? It is hard to imagine a 17th game ever being added with all the concerns of injury and CTE. And getting rid of 2 preseason games does not solve that issue since the majority of starting NFL players only play about 1 combined game anyway in pre-season. For those who say we went from 14 to 16 back in '78 or whenever it was. True. But that doesn't mean we should do expand again and destroy the record books even more. Two wrongs don't make a right as the saying goes.
  12. It was a brutal hit but if you watch the replay it looks like none of the three helmets in the play touch at any point. All the impact came from the shoulder.
  13. I could see him maintaining it. 64.1% would have ranked him 24th in the NFL last season. In the 90's it may have lead the league but now that is only good enough for the bottom third of starting QB's.
  14. I actually think we have played pretty dominating football. We have just gotten in our own way too many times. The Jets game was a disaster in terms of getting in our own way. Same thing with the Bengals game with the two bad plays by JA and the Yeldon fumble. Otherwise I feel like the offense has been firing on all cylinders pretty much all three games. Defense has been solid for all three games with only a drive here or there that went south. And yeah, of course you can compare the Darnoldless Jets team and Miami to any of the three teams we have played.
  15. Yeldon huh? I was thinking maybe we unleash the Duke this week.
  16. Just win this week. Then we can get all excited and start talking about a 14-2 season and Thanksgiving Day match up vs Dallas in the battle of the undefeated.
  17. Yeah I never realized so much of his production last year came from two games last year against the Bengals who had a historically bad defense last year. Allen was a little similar with a good portion of his production coming against Miami but Miami's defense was not nearly as bad as the Bengals D last year. And Allen, minus the turnovers has looked greatly improved over last year.
  18. Mahomes is the real deal. But I am not really seeing Watson as a big miss when we landed Allen. I can easily see Allen being on the same level as Watson. Watson is a good QB but not without his own flaws too. People rip Houston's o-line but Watson doesn't do the line any favors holding the ball forever too. But both Watson and Allen are gamers that when they have the ball in their hands in the final minutes you know you have a chance.
  19. Jesus you are unbearable. Why are you even on here after a win? Maybe you will get your wish and season will end like it did in 2008 and 2011.
  20. Why are you arguing with me? You are missing my point. I'm fine with those plays. Just pointing out that they are the culprit and we will have to live with them.
  21. Bills haven't played the historically bad Dolphins or the Jets with their 3rd string QB. That could also be part of the difference too. Oh and maybe we aren't as good as the six time super bowl champion dynasty Patriots too which would be totally understandable in Josh Allen's second year and less than one full season starting.
  22. 1. The Jets team we played was 100 times better than the team they have fielded the last two weeks. They are playing a third string QB. And haven't had CJ Mosley. 2. Bills haven't played Miami the only team in the league playing at a historically bad level. Patriots have. 3. Bengals are not as bad as their 0-3 record. They took Seattle down to the wire just as they did us.
  23. Correct. We rather take the intentional grounding over the INT. That INT probably happened because of the earlier IG call. The real culprit is Allen trying to make plays out of nothing when plays are blown up. Instead of going down he back pedals 10-15 yards to try to make a play. Unless we can coach that out of him, the end result of those plays will be a throw away at best with the occasional miracle completion for a first down.
  24. Yep. 100% and that is totally fine with me. It will not be coached out of Allen. So we as fans need to learn to be okay with it. Make no mistake our hearts will be ripped out of our chests more than a couple times during Allen's 15 year career in Buffalo and due to throws like the ones Favre had. But we'll also be rewarded with the success that many of those Favre led teams had too.
