We've seen this from Allen from Allen every time now in his young career. He just gets better. Period. He grew from his first starts last season to his final starts last season. His overall growth from his rookie season to now has been amazing. His growth from early this season to now has also been amazing.

If you could swap QBs with any team right now
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Max Fischer's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mahomes and Wilson are the only no-brainers for me. Watson and Jackson are both very close but I'll gamble and take our chances with Allen. I get it that it is hard to pass on both Watson and Jackson when they have each had season(s) far better than any Allen has put together so far. But you can't deny Allen's insane potential. Allen was so raw and such a big developmental project coming in and he's already making huge strides. If you break down his first two seasons in 6-8 game segments he's improving his game in each segment. Watson has played Hopkins and deep threat Will Fuller. We need a couple guys like that on the Bills for Allen. The one nice thing about Allen throwing balls to 5'8" and 5'10" receivers is that if we do get a couple of 6'1"/6'2" guys Allen's accuracy could jump just based on that alone. -
Week 17: Jets at Bills
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would play the starters for the first half. Pretty sure that is the recipe that New England has always gone with. Now of course they've also had the bye week in the first round. Maybe play our guys for a quarter? I just don't love sitting our guys for the entire game. We are not an established team yet. Especially on offense. We continue to grow every week on offense. Take at least part of the final regular season game to continue to do that. This game is important for Darnold's growth. And Gase and the entire offense for that matter. I expect them to put 100% effort in on that side of the ball at least. -
2020 Buffalo Bills Opponents

Looks like a mixed bag to me. Tougher than this season's slate but not the toughest we've had. -
Brian Daboll has no future here

And that is partly their own fault allowing long drives. Pats started at the one yard line and drove for a fg in one of the drives. -
Brian Daboll has no future here

This might be the first game all season the offense actually outplayed the defense when you consider the matchups and rankings of each side of the ball. Not the right week to criticize Daboll. Many people here thought if we scored 20 we would win. We could have easily score 20 but still would have lost. -
Brian Daboll has no future here

Josh Allen is well ahead of schedule in his development. And there is something to be said about continuity. Pretty much every current and former QB will tell you that. I’m 100% on board with Daboll coming back next year. The grass is rarely greener on the other side when it comes to these things. We’ve all seen the games. How many times have the players killed their own momentum by failing to execute? -
Do we rest the starters next week?

I would play them for the first half. Don’t want them to be rusty. Maybe sit Singletary. -
NFL 100 Wide Receiver list

I don't really care if you have 10 drops if you also have 15 TD's. -
Welcome to the bandwagon, Rich Eisen!
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to JÂy RÛßeÒ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I listen to Eisen almost daily and he's actually been high on Gore all season. Before the season even started. His sidekick Brockman (Patriots fan) doesn't really think Gore is a HOF'er. I think that is mostly where Rich's love for Gore has come from in defending Gore's legacy. But Gore had a couple good games early in the season when Singeltary was out and Rich has really been high on Gore since. -
Funny how someone can take that stance when our defense hasn't scored a single point this year and our only special teams score was off of a onside kick with the game already decided against Miami. They do realize we would be 0-14 in that case or maybe 2-12 with a couple victories via FG's? Our defense is good but we are not the Patriots good. Our defense and special teams is not scoring at a ridiculous pace.

And again, how is Allen vs Sanchez remotely accurate? Allen has more intangibles and athletic ability than Sanchez could ever hope for. Both Sanchez and Wilson are fair comparisons because of their similar situations being backed up by great defenses early in their careers. But if you are arguing that Wilson's QB rating >>>>Allen's then I counter with Allen's athletic ability >>>> Sanchez's so should we just toss both out and say neither is fair? On top of that, as a starting QB for the Jets Sanchez never finished a season with a QB rating above 80 points. His best season 78.2, his 3rd season as a full time starting QB. His ratings his first two seasons were 63 and 75 respectively. Depending on these final two games Allen will probably finish above 80 for his second year. So compared to Sanchez he is already a better QB by the traditional definition of one plus throw in the mobility and rushing and he becomes quite a bit better than Sanchez. And you could argue Sanchez had a nice head start playing in the Pac12. Samethin for Russel Wislon playing a season in the Big 10. Allen came from Wyoming and did not have the same level of competition to get him ready every week. I love where Allen is trending. I'm guessing you see it differently.

Nobody is arguing he is on the same level as Russell Wilson. In fact, he never needs to be and he could still have a long 15 year career here. I mean hopefully he at least has a better career in terms of winning than a low level franchise QB like Stafford though. The question is does his future outlook put him on track to be closer to a Mark Sanchez or closer to a Russell Wilson? Or maybe exactly in between? And is exactly in between good enough? You seem to be leaning towards Sanchez.

Cam Newton and Lamar Jackson have/will won MVP's because of their athleticism. Or do you think Lamar would be putting up the same passing numbers if he was as immobile as a Manning? Of course not. And of course their are other more conventional ways to dominate a game from the QB position. That doesn't mean Allen's legs will not be a huge part of his strength as a QB just as they have been for Cam and Jackson. And even guys like Wilson, Rodgers and Watson. Their is more than one way to get it done. My whole point though was that Sanchez did not have the option of using his mobility like these other elite mobile QB's who all fall under the definition of franchise QB. Allen has that in his tool bag and that is why I would safely predict that Allen will not fizzle out like Sanchez did.

Anyone consider trying to do what the Ravens are doing? Their three TE's have a combined 112 receptions while their top 2 WRs only combine for 71 receptions. Compare that the Bills and our top three TE's only have 36 receptions total and our 2 WRs combine for 131 receptions. Jackson is throwing the majority of his passes to 6'4" and 6'5" Tight Ends. Four out of Allen's top 5 pass catchers are all 5'10" or shorter. It's hard to think of any QB's, even the greats who have gotten it done with so many small receivers. I guess if nothing else, it's a good opportunity for Allen to really work on his accuracy with these little guys and once our receivers average about 6'0" his completion percentage might jump up.

Jets fans are throwing out the idea that Allen is Sanchez 2.0 Problem is, Allen has more athleticism in his big toe than Sanchez had in total. That difference alone will make Allen a franchise QB whereas Sanchez washed out after a few seasons. Allen also appears to have far greater intangibles going for him that the Sanchize did not. Jets fans can wish all they want that Allen will be Sanchez 2.0 but it seems highly unlikely. I don't think Sanchez had a high football IQ either. Scored a 28 on the wonderlic. Allen scored a 37. He's not a dummy. Allen might not ever see the game develop like Brady, Peyton or Brees but he's not going to be Mark Sanchez in that regard.
