Experience? Kelly was 6 or 7 years out of college when he made it to his first super bowl? But it does seem these days younger less experienced QB's can and do take their teams to the Super Bowl. Or to 1st place in the conference. On offense it would be nice to have a Kamara type player in that Thurman roll out of the backfield as a threat to run or receive. Singletary is nice but not sure he will get to that sort of all-pro level. On defense I feel our D-line is just average at best. Need a true playmaker on the line to emerge. That said, no reason why this team can't compete with the best of them right now.

Hmm. That's a good point. Chiefs/Bills certainly doesn't seem moveable. Unless they wanted to move it to a stand-alone Friday or Saturday Night game? But that gives Chiefs a one day advantage assuming they play the Raiders Sunday and Bills play the Titans Monday. I would say make it a Saturday night game. I know college football would not be happy but this isn't an ordinary season. That way you can keep the Titans game pending. If no further positives from today then just play Sunday as scheduled and leave the KC game on Thursday. If we get another positive then see if things are good Saturday and Sunday and plan to play Monday or Tuesday with the KC game on the following Saturday. If the Titans still can't play by next Tuesday then they are probably looking at a forfeit or the NFL needs to go ahead and add a week 18 for make-up games. It's unlikely the Titans will be the only team that needs to reschedule games anyway.

Allen has stopped running??? Any reason
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Billsfan1972's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's not just that though. Against the Jets we actually called his number several times. It seems more like the staff has asked him to dial it back with the runs. This is probably in part because Allen has now proven himself as an elite passer. So if the coaching staff knows he can lead us to wins with his arm alone then why have him out there running? Personally, I think he needs to run at least a few time a game. Especially on those 2nd and 7 and 3rd and 7 downs that just break the back of the defense. Hopefully Allen is just saving those for later in the year and they are not being completely coached out of him. Let Josh be Josh. -
Still not sure about that. They scored with 1:29 left on the clock. So basically just add 40 seconds. That is still onside kick territory as it is also likely Raiders would have still burned all their timeouts on their final TD drive. Say they do kick off, then you are looking at a situation where they get the ball back with less than 30 seconds down a TD should the Bills go 3 and out again and punt. Really, you probably couldn't go wrong either way. Bills would have had to royal screw things up to not win the game in the final 5 minutes.

I've been one of the biggest supports of Allen here. Right there with Transplant. But come on, 71 percent completion AND 2nd in the league in yards? 12-1 TD to interception ratio in only 4 games? I knew coming into the season Allen was a franchise QB for us. But I wasn't expecting this type of production. Hopeful? Yes, but not expecting. Nope. A lot of people like to still critique Alllen as a qb that giveth and taketh away. At what point does that narrative change? 35 TD's to 3 INTs or whatever in the last 15 games. I know that doesn't include is fumbles but even if we add those it's probably still 35-10 or something. He took bad sack up two TD's in the fourth quarter. Big deal. Does anyone actually think the game was in doubt after that sack?

Strictly passing only, Allen's jump is unprecedented and greater than Jackson's. In total they are probably about the same when you factor in the huge rushing year Lamar had. But I think we all sort of new Lamar potentially could go off like that as a runner. Nobody, not even the most optimistic Bills fans saw a leap from 58% to 71% completion for Allen and 12-1* TD to INT ratio.

That McKenzie Sweep on 4th and 1
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to jimmy10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills made it look routine. And that play was really about just Allen and McKenzie. The timing and exchange were so quick that as soon as the McKenzie had the ball it was first a first down just based on how fast he was running. I got to believe Allen and McKenzie make it look much easier then it actually is. -
The End of the Lamar Jackson Era
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Shaw66's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
18-1 now in games throwing fewer than 28 passes (21 today) Many of Jackson's best passing games, those 5 TD games, are games where he only attempts 20-25 passes. It's great to be efficient like that in the regular season against most teams but I'd be worried long-term about how he'll play when the competition is stiffer or the Ravens just come out flat and he finds himself in a game where he needs to throw it 35 times. 35 attempts isn't even a lot for the average QB. -
Not really. They scored and the bills recovered and onside kick but there was still at least a minute and change left I think after the onside kick? Bottom line is we were likely to win either way on our second to last possession. Personally I would have preferred to see a pass on 2nd 15 rather than a run. If the pass goes incomplete then just run it again on 3rd down. That is still a pretty good scenario where you would have had the clock moving two out three downs and you at least attempted to end the game that possession by trying to keep the chains moving.

Dumb? Game would be over if we keep are foot on the petal and pick up a first down no? Now we have to recover an onside kick. -

Yeah. Plus he was just 12 yards shy of 300. I would have drawn up a passing play on 2nd 15. If it goes incomplete then run a draw or something on 3rd down to run the clock. -

That looked like a good play by Poyer, no? -

Allen trying to make a play on that last series because he knows our kicker sucks. -

And that doesn't get made if Poyer doesn't make the initial tackle on Waller. -

No Fun League. Don't they know Allen is in an MVP race? Oh well, he got one of the ground. Just one shy of Wilson now for the share of the lead. -

His worst passes today have been a couple balls a bit behind Kroft. But we'll take that all day. -

Good point. I won't be confident until he lets one rip deep again.
