Week 16: Bills at Pats on MNF
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My opinion, since we are playing with house money, as in, division clinched and we've already beaten them once to get that monkey off our back, I'm all for coming out and throwing 10 straight times. That said, I'm not 100% sure it is the game plan we will see. Our coaching staff has shown that they like to take advantage of a teams weakness if they have a blatantly obvious one. Like not having a single designed rushing attempt in the first half of the Seattle game to exploit their secondary or having a season high rushing attempts in the first Patriots game. As long as we don't run Josh on a bunch of designed runs I'll be happy. -
Week 16: Bills at Pats on MNF

Allen looked fine in the Titans game. It was our defense and a lot of drops and penalties that killed us. But Allen's play wasn't the problem in that game. He was passing it well. So basically I don't think his injury had the negative effect that some think it did. I blame the two game losing stretch on 1. Our schedule being flipped upside down 2. Our defense not being healthy Pats game was just poor passing weather and a game plan to run the ball. You don't score as many points when you have a bigger commitment to the running game. Chiefs ran it down our throats and only scored 26 points and that included a FG in the final minutes just to get to 26. -

Diggs first team all-pro chances?
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Sammy Watkins' Rib's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
True. But every player has a starting point somewhere. This could be the beginning of a HOF career for Diggs. It's certainly a 'something has to give' year. Diggs will either be the first player ever to put up his numbers and not be named all-pro or either Adams or Hill will be the first to put up their numbers and be beat out by a guy with less than half as many TD's. As others have mentioned in this thread I would not discount Diggs storyline which has seemed to dominate the sports media world more so than Hills. Then again maybe they will throw us a curve ball and do something dumb and give the nod to Metcalf. He was certainly the flavor of the month earlier in the season. -
There is no backing into the playoffs. You either make it and deserve it or you don't. If a team falls apart at the end of the season to allow the Raiders to get in then the Raiders should get in over that team. That said, I think it is mathematically impossible for the Raiders to get in over the Browns. Raiders would need to get in over Miami and Baltimore. Raiders win out and those two teams both lose out then the Raiders deserve to be in. I see it as 50/50 right now that the Steelers win the North. Browns have a serious shot.

Diggs first team all-pro chances?

None. But there is precedent for not always awarding high TD totals. And we came very close in 2016. 2016 Julio Jones won the award with 83 receptions, 1409 yards and 6TDs over Jordy Nelson who had 97 receptions, 1257 yards and 14 TD's 2010 Roddy White won the award with 111 reception, 1355 yards and 6TDs over Dwayne Bowe who had 72 receptions 1162 yards and 15 TD's Also of note, no WR in NFL history has ever not won the award when tallying at least 120 receptions and 1400 yards. 10 for 10 Stathead: 1400 yards and 120+receptions WR's in NFL history have won the award 9 out of 14 times when totaling 15+TDs, 85+ receptions and 1200+ yards Stathead: 1200+ yards, 15+ TDs and 85+ receptions -
Week 17 maybe see Fromm???

Oh man. I'm calling your mother so she can wash your mouth out with a bar of soap. We don't use that derogatory Bills term around here anymore. -

And he can stare down a blitz and hold onto the ball when getting sacked as shown by his one snap in the Chargers game. Ball security. -

I agree. He's been getting a TON of love from the national media for how much he has elevated our offense. Rightly so too. Storylines matter. -

McDermott: reports are "not overly worrisome" . But doesn't have great clarity yet. The thing that sucks is even if he is questionable we would probably shut him down for this next game. But probably the right thing to do. Especially if John Brown is 100%. Get him some reps again. -
Diggs first team all-pro chances?

Wes Welker was named all pro in 2009 with only 4 receiving TD's. Here are six WR's that have been name first team all pro since 2000 that have had 7 or few receiving TD's: Pro Football Reference: Stathead -
Since I like the guy i would say Jets. I could still root for him with the Chargers or Texans except for when they play the Bills.

Diggs first team all-pro chances?
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Sammy Watkins' Rib's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In league history 9 players have combined to reach 120+ receptions 13 times. Only once out of those 13 occurrences has it not resulted in a first team all pro selection for that player. Chris Carter in 1995. Unless Diggs is inactive for the Miami game he should be a lock to reach 120 receptions. And that 1995 season was crazy. Maybe the greatest single season ever for WR's combined. Chris Carter: 122 receptions 1,371 yards 17 TD's Issac Bruce: 119 receptions 1,781 yards 13 TD's And neither was first team All-Pro. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/1995/receiving.htm Adams has missed two games. Diggs has the advantage in receptions and yardage totals. But not averages. And he's way behind in TD's. That's why I think Adams is the first lock. -

LOL. How could I not remember! -
Adams feels like the only lock. Diggs competition will be Tyreek Hill, Metcalf and Hopkins. Tyreek Hill may have the inside track for the other spot. Hopkins and Diggs numbers are very similar. Nearly identical. It feels like Diggs has the best storyline and is being credited a lot for Allen's breakout year by the media. That may be enough for him to take it over guys like Hill and Metcalf who will have far more TD's. On a side note, who was our last first team all-pro? I know Mario Williams was at least first or second team. I want to say first team one year but not positive. If it is before him, maybe Moorman?

Josh Allen AFC Offensive POTW x4?
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to JGMcD2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think he gets it this week. Refs screwed us twice. First on the bad spot on the 4th down run by Moss. And second with the multiple called back TD's on the same series. Allen could have easily had a 6 total TD day instead of 4. That said he has to be a current leading candidate for his second AFC offensive player of the month award. I rather he get that one. -
Found a scenario where if the Browns lose to the Jets (unlikely but who knows) then the TItans could get the #2 seed even if we beat the Patriots and Pitt loses to Indy. Basically Bills have to be in a three way tie if the Titans have the same record as the Bills. So we beat Titans on non-head to head tie breakers. Could be more scenarios too but that's the only one I have seen so far. I know Dolphins fans are praying that we have our seed locked up going into week 17. But I don't like the idea of gifting Miami a win and giving them even an ounce of confidence that they can hand with us in January in Buffalo. Especially don't like giving them any confidence when we will be playing them the following week.
