I've never understood this math. I guarantee when those drafts roll around those first round picks will not feel like second round picks.

The best thing I can think of that would actually have both teams wanting to win and players and coaches buying in is if the winner of this 3rd place game starts the next season 1-0 while all other teams start the season 0-0. You could say the loser starts 0-1 but I think that is too harsh.

Players would need to play for money, like a ton of money. I don't think the league could pay them enough to care. An additional 2nd round pick or even first round pick doesn't mean jack to the players. Heck, it's just another potential opportunity for their job to be taken away. For many of those players it's the last game they'll play at the collegiate level. Or the last game they will play period. Plus, in college those are technically the only postseason game the players play in.

Throw in next years first too. I would actually let them keep Tua if I am the Texans. Dolphins would probably end up trading Tua to another team. Glad Stafford went to the Rams. Now just need Watson to stay out of the AFC East. The 2021 QB's the Bills defense will face could be some very poor/young QB's: Dolhins x2 Tua? Jets x2 Darnold/Rookie? Patriots x2 Cam/Rookie? Panthers- Bridgewater/Rookie? Texans-??? if Watson holds out Colts- Brissett/Rookie? Steelers-Old Big Ben/Rookie?? Jaguars- Trevor Lawerence Saints- A RB/Jaemis Winston? That leaves games against the Falcons, Chiefs, Titans and Bucs with good QB's. Add the Texans if Watson doesn't hold out. I don't think he is being traded. At the very least, Texans will absolutely take it down to the season opener to try and at least call Watson's bluff on holding out.

Why? Only one RB went in the first round last year. At #32 overall. And in fact over the last five drafts only 1 RB has been selected in the first round in 3 of the 5 drafts dating back to 2017. I don't see a lot of teams with Running Back as a big need either. I could see the Jets or Dolphins possibly taking one just because they each have the luxury of two first round picks. So they could possibly take one with their later first round pick. Maybe the Steelers? Of picks 17-32, where it would be likely a RB or two would come off the board, majority of those teams are set at RB. Jets, Dolphins and Steelers are the ones that standout. Of the five teams that pick before the Bills 25 to 29, none of them would take a RB. All that said, I'm not sure it is wise for the Bills to be taking a RB in the first round.

What!? He wasn't scoring. He would have gotten the first down though. It killed our drive. No doubt. But Mathieu was closing in on him. And even had he gotten by him he had like 30-40 yards to run still to get to the end zone. Very optimistic to think we score a TD on that drive given how the next two goal to goal possessions worked out for us.

How exactly were we going to score when we went 0 - 2 on back to back goal to go possessions? Chiefs did what they normally do in the playoffs. Spot a team 10 points and beat their butts by double digits. We were never one play away from winning this game.

I think Watson is solidly in the top 5. As is Allen. The order in which you put these guys is kind of meaningless. I do think it is clear though, Allen very well could have the highest ceiling of them all. Only Mahomes ceiling might be higher. Watson is a good player but he is not without his own faults. Guy takes a ton of sacks and always has. Every single year of his career. I'm sure it is a big reason why his 12th ranked QBR is much lower than his 2nd ranked 112 passer rating. Only year Allen had a sack percentage over 8% was his rookie year. Then down to 7% his second year and cut in half to 4% this last year. Watson has been over 8% all four years he has played and that includes one year over 10%.

On the plus side our D-line can count on getting a lot more sacks if Watson goes to Miami. Would be a good year to put in incentives for going over 8 or 10 sacks if Watson is traded to the AFC East. You'd have a sack prone Watson and probably a couple rookie QB's in the division.

Agree 100%. I'd also throw in that I'm not yet convinced CHE was a good pick for the Chiefs. I mean he is okay but nothing special. Now he was selected with the last pick in the first round so that's not as bad as say drafting a RB in the top 15. He basically had two good games for the Chiefs and one of them we baited them to run the entire game. I think folks need to come to the realization that Moss and Singeltary will be our RB duo again in 2021. An elite TE though would be huge for this team. I'd be all for giving away multiple picks for this Pitts guy out of Florida if he falls out of the top 10.

Love the Samuel option. But he is projected to make about $12.5 million per year on his next contract. Agholor might be the cheaper option. Rex Burkhead would be a good fit. But I wonder if he is too much of a luxury though based on the fact that I think we would only see about a third of the running back snaps. I'd definitely assume both Moss and Singletary are on the team next year. I'm sure if we signed Burkhead he would be the highest paid RB on our team. TE's are so hard to find. I'd just suggest that if Kyle Pitts somehow falls out of the top 10 then Beane get on the phone and see what he can do.

You beat me to it Doc. Agholor is my number one target to add to the receiving core through free agency. He's a far cheaper and therefore more realistic option than Golladay. Not sure how in the world he is coming off a one year $1 million dollar contract from the Raiders. Spotrac has his next contract projected at 2 years $20 million now. That's $7 million per year cheaper than Golladay's projection. I wish John Brown well but I'm all for replacing him with Agholor. Agholor reportedly blew up on the entire Raiders team including his teammates in the locker room after the Miami loss. The dude is cut from the same cloth as Diggs. He just wants to compete. Despite playing with a QB that prefers to spread it around to TE's and Running Backs, Agholor managed to have a break out season showing that he can be a big play threat averaging 18.7 ypc. He's the same age as Diggs. Agholor doesn't have any real injury issues or concerns as far as I know. He played all 16 last year and other than 2019 he played in all 16 in 2017 and 2018. Brown, Beasley, Diggs have all had career years after joining the Bills and Allen. I'd predict the same for Agholor which would mean over 900 yards and around 10 TD's. In the draft go after the following with our first pick: Kadarius Toney WR Rondale Moore WR Kyle Pitts TE Defense with all our remaining picks. And probably rolling with Moss and Singeltary again in 2021.

I like what I see.

Just saying he would be our deep threat to our do it all receiver in Diggs. In Green Bay Diggs counter part is Adams. Plus they are nearly identical in size. I would expect more out of Golladay for sure. MVS is the poorman Golladay in this scenario. But at any rate, I do tend to agree that his price tag is likely too high so I'll post the name of the guy I really like for us now in a minute.

BOB is gone though. Fired early in the season in fact. They didn't let him linger.

Wow! Didn't realize that. Figured it was before that trade. That doesn't make me have much sympathy for Watson.

The old GM is gone. They have a new GM now. And a new coach. The new GM and coach have not burned anything to the ground. I'm sure both would like to start off their careers with a franchise QB.

It's a good point, that they will always be able to trade Watson for likely two first round picks next off-season even if he sits out the entire year. So with that being the case, try to call his bluff and hope he reports to camp and cooler heads prevail. It's a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation. Watson sitting out a full season could jeopardize the locker room moving forward and free agents that look at Houston as a destination. But then again, trading Watson pretty much jeopardizes your long-term future anyway if you don't find a franchise QB to replace him.

Steelers told Bell to go pound sand. He ended up leaving as a free agent. They didn't trade him. They held their leverage.

Different for a few reasons. Palmer had totaled around $80 million in career salary already when he decided to not report to the Bengals. Watson has only totaled half of that, $40 million. Watson is viewed as a top 5 QB in the league even higher among some. I'm not sure Palmer was even viewed as a top 10 QB. Maybe fringe top 10. Difference between 5 and 10 may not seem like a lot but in terms of a QB it's pretty significant. Much harder pill to swallow for the Texans to cave and trade a top 5 talent at the QB position. Looking at Watson's salary, if he sits out this entire year he actually doesn't loose that much, only $10 million. So it actually could be great timing for Watson to sit out a year to prove to the Texans that he is serious. But 2022 he's due $35 million. That's nearly half of what he's made his entire career thus far. That would be a hard season to sit out. But by that point the Texans may cave and trade him.

The NFL needs to stay completely out of it. No reason why the player and team can't sort this out. There are three options here. All perfectly acceptable. Texans don't trade him and Watson plays out his contract. Texans don't trade him and Wastons sits out. Texans trade Watson. My money would be on Watson playing out his contract if the Texans don't cave. He could sit out but he'd be the first to do so at that position that I can recall. Palmer did it with the Bengals but that situation was a little different.

That's cool. I guess I turned the game off before that point.

Holy crap. New England, Miami, New York Jets, Carolina, Houston, Indy, New Orleans, Jacksonville, Pittsburgh. Depending on where Watson and Stafford land 12 out of our 16 games could be against some very suspect QB's either 1st or 2nd year guys still developing or some bad vets. Defense might regain their 2019 form.

I've lost complete interest in college football. And I don't see that changing soon. I don't know anyone anymore. Too many meaningless blowouts with a meaningless postseason with the same 3-4 teams every year. I can probably count on two hands the number of college football players I know by name. And that's just because they are mostly QB's I hear talked about on the radio.

Interesting player and interesting contract status. A lot of injury issues. But no question he has been able to produce well when he's available. It looks like he has no dead cap hit to the Chargers this year if I am reading the Spotrac website right? But a $15 million dollar cap hit and a UFA next off-season. I would assume the Bills would inherit the entirety of the $15 million dollar cap hit for 2021? It did look like the Chargers had some other young up and coming receiver options if they wanted to trade Williams. But with his injury history and no long-term contract I wouldn't want to risk more than maybe a 4th round pick in a trade.
