Mr. Monday Night-Josh Allen

Of note, Lamar showing very well in both 2019 and 2020. Of QB's to appear in at least 4 games Allen's 2021 December ranks around 23rd. That Steelers game really dropped him a lot unfortunately. The one INT due to the interior rush probably being killer. -
Mr. Monday Night-Josh Allen

I usually agree but the title of the thread and topic is "Mr. Monday Night". A re-scheduled original Thursday Night Fox broadcast to Monday at 5:00 pm ET time doesn't really seem out of bounds. How many exceptions are there really going to be like that. At any rate hopefully Allen can continue to dominate on Monday Nights. -

Nothing picks me up better during a long work week than thinking about how good our QB is and how football season is just around the corner. LOL The next split I want to find is passer ratings in the month of December. Wondering if Allen might be top 10 all time for the month of December. Rodgers was 125 while Allen was 116. I was surprised Rodgers was so much higher than Allen given that Allen actually had the better TD to INT ratio by one TD. -

Looks like Billy Volek (remember him? neither did I) and and Marcus Mariotta of all QB's are the only ones ahead of Allen. But again, counting only true Monday Night games I don't think anyone is ahead of Allen or even close at his 138.9 or whatever it is. I short changed Lamar though. He is pretty close at 118.0 and a 2-1 record. -
To the best of my knowledge no QB that has ever played in multiple Monday night games has a higher career passing rating than Josh Allen. I was trying to do a split search of all QB's to have played on Monday but couldn't find the option on Stathead. So I looked up the usual suspects, Rodgers, Wilson, Mahomes, Lamar etc. Watson and Dak are the only ones who are close at 122.3, 1-1 record and 118.9 and 3-1 record respectively vs. Allen at 122.5 and a 2-1* record. But that rating for Allen is misleading as it includes the debacle rescheduled "Monday night'" game against the Chiefs last year. Very small sample size for all three obviously but it will be interesting to see where Allen comes out after the 2022 season. If we take into account just the true Monday Night games, which seems fair, Allen has a rating around 139 and it would be hard to imagine he could even dip below 110 next year with a couple of sub par games. Monday night games for next season are: @ Tennessee vs. New England I've been thinking about last seasons 49ers Monday Night game recently. Allen has had a lot of good games but I can't really get that game out of my mind in terms of that particular game maybe being Allen's best game of his career so far. Started with some disaster plays early on offense that got us in a early hole but then Allen shook it off and got in a groove and just dominated. Then a few weeks later Allen and Diggs just toyed with the Pats in the rematch Monday night game in New England. Funny too because I thought we had a good chance of rolling them in that game because we had finally gotten that Patriots monkey off our backs in a tight bad weather game earlier in the year in Buffalo. For those wondering Mahomes is 5-1 with a 110.2 rating* and that also of course includes one rescheduled "Monday Night" game that worked out to Mahomes benefit because he had a 128.4 rating in the game against the Bills last year.

Who made Who in 2020? Allen vs Diggs
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Inigo Montoya's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can even go back to Allen's rookie year in 2018. Robert Forster career year. Zay Jones career year. Charles Clay, Kelvin Benjamin, Andre Holmes did any of them even play another snap in the NFL? -
Davis really has a great opportunity in front of him. To grow into the role of a dominant WR in this league right along with Allen. He is an important piece to the Bills long term plans. Well before all the Beasley/vaccine stuff I felt Beasley would take a big step back in production this year. His production being replaced from a combination of Sanders and Davis receiving more targets.
-
I thought he was solid all year in the special teams role up to the Colts playoff game. That was really his one bad game. Average starting field position inside the 6 or 7 yard line for the first half. Roberts made at least a couple mistakes in that first half but it wasn't all on him either. And ultimately the Bills got the W.

I was a Baker guy as well. And to make matters worse I was an Anyone But Allen guy. I viewed Allen probably similarly as Elway did. Intriguing, but the risk of being another Paxton Lynch that would never realize his potential outweighed even the massive potential. Obviously I didn't do a deep dive into Allen. I'm guessing Elway and his staff did but in the end they were too chicken sh*t to take him after busting on big QB's like Oz and Lynch. Allen's most underrated attribute is what he has going on between his ears. Both in his ability to learn and read defenses and his ability to be a charismatic leader. This was another thing that Palmer had mentioned in another video. That Allen was just a down to earth guy that could take over a room and that players would want to be around and play for. Interesting, that in the 2021 draft Palmer pointed to Trey Lance as being one of those ultra-cool guys that players will gravitate to.

2021 record prediction?

@ KC @ Tennesse Dear God please just get a split at least. I don't want to relive the night mares from last year. -
Slot Recievers - McKenzie / Cole

I think Beasley's role is greatly diminished this year. But it would be foolish to outright cut him. As WR centric we were last year we need all the depth we can get. God for bid Diggs has to miss a handful of games or more. I expect a big season out of Sanders, but he is old as dirt so we need to take that into consideration. Davis had a nice rookie year but we have seen rookies in the past have career years and then never get better. -
Interesting analysis of Josh Allen 2020 season
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There was also this positive analysis of Allen from a Patriots fan that pre-dated the start of Allen's 2nd season. I'm still shocked that an opposing fan was able to see through the weeds and predict Allen would be the next great QB in the NFL after all the so called experts panned Allen's rookie season. I guess now we just have to wait for a Jets fan to make a video. -
Davis is such a huge piece to the puzzle of the Bills long-term success. He's really the only youthful receiver we have on the roster that already has shown legitimate potential. Davis breaking out into a legitimate #2 or 1B receiver to Diggs by the completion of the 2022 season would be huge. He had a knack for TD's his rookie year. His total of 7 should have been 9. I believe he had one each called back in the Titans and second Jets game each due to illegal procedure penalties.

Interesting analysis of Josh Allen 2020 season
Sammy Watkins' Rib replied to Protocal69's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I want to say Allen was like 0 or 1 for 20 or worse on deep balls (25+ yards) to start the 2019 season. If I am remembering correctly it wasn't just a late season issue due to wind. That said, Allen's 2019 season was solid IMO. Drives me crazy when I hear the talking heads say "he sucked the first two years". -
The irony about the Broncos draft in 2018 is that Allen was THE prototypical QB prospect that Elway always coveted, and yet he couldn't draft him. He couldn't draft him because he had already twice swung and missed on boom or bust prospects in Osweiler and Lynch.

It's about match ups which seems to be something that you want to ignore or assume has no significance. There's a reason why we were manhandled twice by the Chiefs. It largely has to do with our style of play vs. there's. As currently constructed and until our game plan and philosophy changes Browns are a better match up against the Chiefs and that's with Mayfield being a much inferior QB to Allen. But that's just Browns vs. Cheifs. Browns may be over matched against the other top teams like the Titans, Bills and Ravens.
-
They have a running game. Which helps. Putting points on the Chiefs defense requires utilizing the RB's and TE's. See the super bowl for a good example. Bucs absolutely destroyed them with RB's and TE's. Raiders also had a lot of success twice with a good commitment to the RB's and TE's. The Browns offensive philosophy uses the RB's and TE's far more than our WR centric offense. Browns were also a fluky touchback away from possibly going into the half only down 6 with Mahomes playing the entire first half. That said, I like the Bills over the Browns but it is different match ups.
