I'd still have Mahomes #2 behind Josh. Herbert hast he potential to get to #2 though. He just doesn't seem to make something out of nothing as often as Allen and Mahomes though. Unless I just haven't watched enough of his games. It feels like his secondary reaction and "wow" plays are fewer than Allen and Mahomes.

Sounds like a no brainer. I'd never drop $2,000 on one game. Only way that would be a remote possibility would be if I had a chance to watch the game from the sideline. Even then probably not as I prefer to be at least 20 rows up or so to have better perspective of the action.

I'm not positive but it seems prices have gone up since a couple months ago when tickets first came out for this game. We live a couple hours away and we were going to bring a lot of family and friends but with the price of tickets, we've settled for the 500 section and it will instead just be myself and two brothers. Tickets are way overpriced for this game. Wonder if they will come down a couple days before the game?

Turning Kiko Alonso around and using him as a lead blocker will always be one of my all time favorite Allen runs.

Given his size and athletic ability you almost expect more out of Herbert like we see from Allen regularly. Allen seems to have an edge with secondary reaction plays. But Herbert is very good just reading the defense and executing the called play/pass. I thought it was a pretty incredible drive Herbert orchestrated in the final two minutes of regulation against the Raiders last year to force overtime. I can't recall enough of the Chargers games to say either way correctly. But Herbert was nothing short of amazing in the final two minutes of regulation against the Raiders last year. Last year was crazy because every team had some absolutely pitiful WTF? type games. For the Chargers it was against the Texans. Bills against the Jaguars.

Even in that Atlanta game Allen totally dominated on the ground. When you complete less than 50% of your passes for under 5 yards per attempt and throw 3 INTs but still come out of the game with a 60QBR it shows how dominant he was in other areas. The league MVP is also on like 20+ year drought of winning Super Bowl as well. I'm hoping Allen breaks that drought because I really want him to win MVP.

You're not a troll but you do hold a minority opinion. And I'm talking among all NFL fans, critics and analyst, not just Bills fans. Allen is the odds on favorite to win MVP. Allen and the Bills are the favorite to win the Super Bowl. Allen is coming off back to back season as the top fantasy football scorer. Allen is coming off a near perfect post season. Allen is has the highest career postseason passer rating. Allen holds every single physical and mental attribute one would wish for an NFL QB to have. No other QB in the NFL holds all these attributes. Guys like Mahomes, Herbert and Rodgers are probably the closets but each is probably missing one or two attributes. If Allen's individual postseason success last year is a sign of things to come then he is also only continuing to get better. Allen's regular season last year was a noticeable dip from his production in 2020. But his 2021 postseason was so off the charts it basically made the entirety of the 2020 and 2021 seasons (regular and postseason) essentially the same.

you literally said “there is no reason to think they won’t win a super bowl or TWO” Marino and Rodgers are literally the examples of great QB’s not winning a super bowl or two “let alone even playing in two Super Bowls. So yes, there is reason to think it might not happen. This whole argument has probably gotten off the rails at any event. We seem to be arguing over semantics. My original point was just pointing out that is is possible, perhaps likely given Allen’s ceiling compared to Big Ben’s, that Allen could be viewed in the long run as a top 5 or top 10 QB all time over Big Ben even if Allen ends up with half the postseason accolades as Big Ben.
-
No reason? Dan Marino and Aaron Rodgers are exhibits A and B. An uber talented QB can go 10-15 years without even making the super bowl let alone winning one or more. They could win one very soon or they could also fail to even make the Super Bowl for the next 10 seasons. It's happened to QB's just as talented as Allen.
-
Well yeah nobody knows the future but we like to speculate and guess. My main point is there are multiple QB's that are considered to be on a much higher tier than Big Ben that have half the postseason accolades as Big Ben. So far Allen has run into a buzz saw of misfortune in the postseason all while personally having the highest career postseason passer rating of all time.

I'd say last years 13 second debacle was at least step one in a long series of mishaps that would lead a player to become the next Dan Marino or Aaron Rodgers. Guys who are the arguably the best of their generation and top 5 all time but under performed in the category of postseason success.
-
Most would say Dan Marino >>> Big Ben. But Ben has the rings. There is a possibility that Allen is >>>> Big Ben, yet has no rings like Marino. Look at Aaron Rodgers. Dude is maybe the greatest QB of all time to date outside of Brady yet only has one ring? And even worst, just one super bowl appearance??? I have faith Allen will get us over the hump eventually. But stupid things happen, so you never know. Last years 13 second debacle being exhibit A.

A coach could always choose to bench both the starting quarterback and the starting left tackle. That would probably be the smart move. I imagine your better teams in the league would probably pretty much bench half their team or more when they go up against the worst teams in the league. Essentially try to beat a bad teams starters with your back ups. The bills fielded a preseason team for essentially 17 years. But we all watched and enjoyed the games because they counted. Preseason sucks because it doesn’t count. I guarantee there would be plenty of interest in regular season games even with back ups that were forced to play.

The reason it will never work is fans shelling out a lot of money only to find out the week before the B team is playing. Otherwise , the fairness of the game is still in tact. Every team has to go through the same adversity. Many players already miss two games due to injury so for those cases it would be a moot point. you could make an argument that the teams with a higher level quarterbacks, the top five top 10 quarterbacks in the league are probably handicapped a greater amount than those teams with average to below average quarterbacks. Those teams whose starting quarterbacks are closer to the level of a back up.

Sunday night Super Bowls aren’t a problem for those of us living on the West Coast. As another poster pointed out the Super Bowl being a huge weeklong event Saturday night ends up being a huge revenue booster for the hosting cities. Moving the Super Bowl to Sunday would basically take one of those big revenue days away.

I’ve actually always like that idea. 16 game records kept intact, player safety accounted for and a newly added dimension of strategy in terms of roster management. But the biggest downside is the very last sentence that the writer points out. Can’t have fans purchasing airfare, hotel and game tickets in July for a game in November flying through three time zones to see their team play only to find out 5 days prior the star quarterback and receiver are going to be sitting for the week.

Are any of them not down at least 50% from their highs less than a year ago?
