Brian Daboll hired to be Head Coach of NY Giants
Coffeesforclosers replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
My fantasy hire is Josh McDaniels. He runs the same base offense as Daboll (Earhardt-Perkins). He knows how to generate YAC. He knows how to generate a screen game. He gets superstar weapons and a chance to stick it to BB. He gets a Superstar QB again. And it makes NE hire a new OC to ride heard on McCorkle and his overpaid island of misfit toys. -
So Daboll is basically taking the whole offensive staff with him. ***** it. Ask Josh McDaniels if he wants Daboll's old job. Our system is supposed to based on the E-P Offense too, and he gets to coach a real QB again. Nobody is going to say NE doesn't know how to generate YAC, or develop a screen game and a running game.

Honestly, it hasn't even been a week yet. Folks are gonna need time. But if we're still wallowing in "Woe is us, 13 seconds, fire everyone then jump off a cliff" threads in a month, that's sad. -

Brandon Beane Season Ending Presser Weds 1/27

I wouldn't mind some help at Guard, C, DT, S and RB. Motor proved himself and his skilset, get a downhill burner to compliment him so we can ditch Moss and Breida. -
Brandon Beane Season Ending Presser Weds 1/27

I also want Josh to play until he's 40. McBeane know that they'll hang higher than Haman if Josh gets Cam Newtoned or Andrew Lucked or Chad Penningtoned or... -
Yeah, the Cover 1 guys said that Wallace's leverage on Kelce makes sense if Obada's assignment was to jam Kelce, re-route him to Wallace then drop into a shallow zone to spy Mahomes. Except he didn't touch Kelce, Obada fires off the line to rush Mahomes. Kelce gets a free release down the hash with Wallace playing the wrong leverage in the wrong position. Efe didn't do his job, or Efe was told to do the wrong job. McD is not going to throw anybody under bus, be they player or coach, whether it's Frazier, Farwell, Bass, Obada or anyone else. But once they ***** up the squib kick call, everything went to ***** and the coaching staff started making very basic mistakes. McD has a share of that blame, because the buck stops with him. But I'm scratching my ***** head that someone with Frazier's experience completely went to pieces. I think Farwell *might* be a dead man walking...but if he isn't I get that too.

Do you want KC to cruise to the Super Bowl title?
Coffeesforclosers replied to Charles Romes's topic in The Stadium Wall
Stafford deserves one Lombardi more than Mahomes deserves two. -
Maybe. Still with all those TOs the D's intent should have been made clear to the players. Still a bad look for him. Speaking to a different issue, our DL rotation is designed to get pressures because pressures force incompletions and TOs. This is solid thinking. Bowles and TB showed that pressure works on Mahomes...IF you get him running BACKWARDS and IF you get a bunch of sacks too. Pressure that gets Mahomes running East-West isn't really pressure to him. Elite QBs don't get inside their own heads until they're getting hit repeatedly.

McD is great at learning and changing for the better. Just look at how he's gotten with the program on 4th downs, and how he schools belichick game after game. His weakness is loyalty. He develops blind spots towards performance once you've earned his respect. His crush on Peterman, the Denison hire, and now maybe Frazier. Frazier is a great DC against 90% of the NFL. But this isn't soccer, you can't win a title by beating beating the 18 teams that are worse than you are, and never beating the two teams that are better. If you can't beat Brady or Mahomes, you don't win it all. You don't need to rip McD's scheme down to the foundations and start over. It's a fundamentally sound scheme. But you do need some new ideas and better situational decisionmaking if you want to get through the post season. Remember they tried and failed to bring in a true, elite pass rusher this off-season. With the number of guys we're moving on from this off season, I expect Beane to break the bank for an All Pro type EDGE. And bet your ass he won't be rotated.

Coin Toss Alternate Josh Allen...

When your QB throws for 329 and 4 TDs, then the O is not part of the problem. Now I don't know what information led to the decision to protect the sidelines with zone coverages and let the best YAC team in the NFL run the middle of the field. But it was the wrong one. And I don't know what the situational decision making process was, but whoever thought it was a good idea to give free releases to receivers at any point...well they were wrong too. These perspectives do not require hindsight when you're talking about the Chiefs. To win the game, we had to keep the clock running, and keep the chiefs from scoring. They had all their TOs and the best YAC receivers in the game. They had 13 seconds. A sack basically wins the game, but our whole DL system is designed to generate pressures rather than sacks. Drop everybody into coverage, and get physical at the LOS. The Chiefs aren't winning any jump balls, that's not who they are. Make Mahomes stand back there and pat the ball, because time is your friend. Leaving the hash marks open (ie, just what we did...) is an easy read for an easy throw and catch. Which defeats our goal of making everything take as much time as possible. That situational coaching was piss poor. It identified the right objectives, then for some reason completely ignore the Chiefs strengths as an O, and their available resources (players, time outs). May as well have thrown out a red carpet for the FG team.
