The reason that worked in Jacksonville was because only one of the five offensive linemen was a starter playing in their real position. Jacksonville rushed 3 with instant pressure several times in that game. On the game clinching play, Allen was being sacked while the right tackle was still in his stance.

The back view of the red zone pick confirmed that he had the wrong diagnosis of the coverage and was also perfectly screened so he couldn't see the guy who stepped in the lane until just after he decided to throw. That second one you remembered, he definitely alligator-armed it. Hyde woulda caught that thing So refreshing to see after the amount of times Allen has had obscene bounces and luck go against him. His WRs have outright volleyed the ball up to the defender about 5 times in the last 3 years, while it always feels like other QBs have everything so much easier along with a horseshoe up their butts. Don't disagree with any of this. Josh's best year passing was 2020, and what I remember most about that season was that everyone was open all of the time. What made Josh marvelous that year is that he was finding them whether the pocket was clean or if he had guys in his face in a 10 step dropback off his back foot. Yeah that guy is unbelievably bad. Goes to show that no team can get everything right for very long.

I agree there is no one better, but as last night's game went on, a higher and higher percentage of his throws were in horrible spots. Moore and Toney were bad but a few times their drops had them flipping their hips and reaching behind at the last second. He got happy feet and his placement suffered badly. He was not comfortable. It's exactly how josh looked down the stretch last year.
