  1. Ok so if we fill holes by keeping our picks, who's to say those picks will pan out any better than trading up for a top QB? If we miss on the picks we keep, then what? We can't keep taking shots in the dark on 2nd and 3rd round QB picks hoping we hit the bullseye in the dark. We've been trying that for over a decade minus Manuel and Losman. The common theme for this team's shortcomings has always been the same, lack of a franchise QB. Would you risk yet another failed lower round QB pick for the sake of filling holes elsewhere? No matter how many holes we have now, none is bigger than the QB position
  2. To be fair, I don't think the Bills can get to #2 without both firsts this year and next year's first. Indirectly, the Jokes did the Giants a huge favor moving up to #3. That being said, I'd still pull the trigger and make the trade anyway. Just because Beane said he'd rather build through the draft doesn't mean he's automatically gonna pass on a top QB when he has the means to acquire one. How would it not be a greater risk to hit every draft pick filling multiple holes than hitting a single pick for the most important hole to fill as you've been saying. I agree 100% with your assessment
  3. If I recall, Ajayi was traded before the fins played the Bills. I kept remembering thank god we didn't have him to worry about.
  4. All the more reason to gamble and move up this year. Seriously, missing out on Mahomes and Watson has to be the final straw. With all the grief the fans gave to guys like Whaley, Nix and Levy for missing out on QBs, do we really want to take that chance again knowing we have the ability to move up? I would risk it this year because to me, either way, McCaron will be the starter. I really don't want to wait another god knows how many years for another opportunity and waste any more time with project QBs until another QB heavy draft. How many years have we ignored the QB position hoping to be the exception to the rule?
  5. Getting a QB means nothing? That's where it all starts. If it means nothing, then how come the Bills had a 17 year playoff drought? Not to mention a trade up really helped the Eagles and completely turn the tide in LA. With the salary cap going up and the Bills being in great shape capwise next year, this year is probably the best time to gamble. Waiting for the next diamond in the rough hasn't worked for this franchise.
  6. This^^ Getting top D talent doesn't mean jack if that same talent wants to be traded after 2 years because we have a stagnant offense We didn't trade down last year to stay put, I simply can't believe that
  7. Probably because they've been trying to bolster the roster year in and year out. Which will basically mean settling for whatever QB is there at 12 will amount to continuous mediocrity at best. I want consistent playoff appearances, and that starts with upgrading the QB position. Can't rely on this team winning or that team losing every year
  8. Yeah but with the Jets having so much cap space and signing free agents left and right, for them to trade up didn't really hurt them at all. A top QB behind McCown and the ability to fill holes with top free agents doesn't exactly spell doom for a team. As for the Bills, how many years have we strengthened every other position than QB to have at best a record of 9-7? With this being a draft class of so many QBs to choose from, why not try something different than bolstering non QB positions that haven't gotten us anywhere for the last 17 years? And for those who want to stay at 12 and take a QB there, I don't get that at all. It doesn't make any sense to trade last year's 1st to KC for us to move up to 12 and stay there for the sake of not improving the most important position. Guys like Brady and Wilson are one in a million shots. I'm tired of waiting to find a needle in a haystack, we've tried that too many times to just settle at 12. Some will say guys like Allen, Rosen and Mayfield are one in a million shots as well, but being aggressive worked for Philly and LA. Time to at least try something different
  9. I'm not sold on him myself. The one thing that's stuck out to me is Beane liking McCaron's competitive nature. Only QB like that that I've seen in this draft is Mayfield. I think he has an edge over the other top QB prospects in that regard
  10. Over the last several years, we hardly threw any picks away for a QB, and there were still question marks. And we've tried bolstering every other position but QB. Why would this year be any different?
  11. Have to agree with this, I honestly believe the Jets did this trade partly to make the Bills force their hand. If they really do end up taking Allen, you're gonna be able to hear a collective sigh in NYC
  12. Good points, but Beane may be under more pressure than we think. Since the Colts chose trading back with the Jets, like many others have said, the Giants will more than likely force any team to mortgage a ton of picks. Can't really say I'd be happy with settling for second best when the opportunity was there to grab a top rated talent. Then again, maybe we don't even go with QB at all now
  13. I think this is exactly what the Jets want us to do just to see us possibly blow up our draft this year and and lose our 1st next year. But still, it leaves an insanely bad taste in Bills' fans mouths to more than likely lose out on a top QB. Because let's face it, with all the FA signings, none of them pale in comparison to trading up. So now it appears our offseason is pretty meh if not gross
  14. It sounds more like the Pats don't believe Brady will retire. If Brady did retire, I'm not sure McCaron signs with the Bills, seeing as his only competition there would be Hoyer. Signing AJ is kind of a meh move to me since he hasn't had much time in the position since coming into the league. But this move does scream the Bills will move up. I just pray Josh Allen isn't the pick
  15. I think it's that article that shows the teams Suh could end up with
  16. Well you gotta look at the fact that we've been passing up franchise QBs for so long while other teams have been getting theirs. We can't keep hoping for a diamond in the rough every year. With the picks we have, this may be the only chance we have to move up and roll the dice. Now if we end up signing a FA QB, then your idea has a shot of working
  17. Not quite sure how the Broncos are built to win now given what we saw of them last year. I think Vance Joseph was as much the problem as their QB situation and they're bringing him back for another year. Losing Wade Phillips hurt them pretty bad too
  18. True but with how Watson was playing, I'm sure Tennessee would have been blown out at home. I do not look forward to playing Houston next year, especially if JJ Watt is healthy
  19. Twice without Watson?!?! Did you not see the 50 burger he put up on Tennessee? He didn't play the Titans the second time because of his knee injury
  20. Ok let's be fair here not to mention realistic. You're actually gonna say the Bills still would have made the playoffs had Watson's season not been cut short? Houston would have taken that division and Tennessee would have had the wild card. Watson was playing every bit as good as any QB at the time he got hurt
  21. Lol that wasn't a shot at McMahaon, far from it. But as it's been mentioned by a lot of people, pro football is almost seeming like it's scripted. Well, that's right up McMahon's alley. Got me to thinking about something. Isn't it odd that 2 QBs ended up with knee injuries that were playing probably better than Brady? Watson lost to Brady, but probably wouldn't have if he didn't get hurt and Houston made the playoffs. Then there's Carson Wentz who was staring at league MVP in the face before his knee got wrecked. And if he didn't get hurt and was starting the SB, Brady probably wouldn't stand a chance in hell of winning.
  22. What's to underestimate? He's in the entertainment business, the NFL is becoming his kind of entertainment. Guess he figures he has a shot now
  23. No way Smith is worth a first given his age. You'd trade a first for a guy that may play 2 more years?
  24. Why in the world would we turn around and give KC's first round pick back for Alex Smith?
  25. I might agree with signing Bradford if we had an o line good enough for pass protection. As it stands, there's no way we could keep Bradford upright and he'd probably last all of 2 weeks in to the season
