  1. Last scholarly article I read which was not produced by a political appointee was A "Reconciliation between the Consumer Price Index and the Personal Consumption Expenditures Price Index" (https://www.bea.gov/system/files/papers/P2007-4.pdf. I remember when ice cream manufactures changed the amount of ice cream going into cartons by changing shape (1/2 gallon to 3 quarts) but in tables I reviewed year to year this was not accounted for resulting in large price jump in ice cream due to cost of cream (ice milk products also went up and while producers blamed cost of cream for rise it did not explain cost per oz rise in ice milk products which ice milk cartons also changing size). There are many such changes made such as substituting cheaper ingredients to reduce cost rises because it will affect consumer spending. I find the Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) to be more accurate but both have same issue - changes made for political reasons not economic measurement accuracy.
  2. Marlowe has played ST when not starting. How does ST be a factor of Hamlin over Marlowe?
  3. I thought that this would happen when The Athletic and wonder how NYT editorial decisions will affect it. Funny thing is The Athletic are both trying to get money from me sending emails.
  4. And common theory was the Earth was flat. I worked for agency when a politically appointed lead changed formula for upcoming election reasons. I will not go into who or which election which would result in a political battle on this board.
  5. Marlowe was let go for salary cap reasons. A number of players the Bills could not afford were let go although not for performance.
  6. Take lots of pictures. Memory fades as other memories are added. We took my daughter to Hawaii multiple times as a youngster and while she wants to go back (much more difficult now) her memories are not very strong.
  7. Taylor Rapp weakness is in coverage with targets catching ball large percentage of time. His assets are tackling and energy. Rapp is a high protein consumer so him looking bigger than Damar. For physically type I'd say he is like Poyer and is a lot stronger for his size that other players. I think Buffalo was targeted by Rapp due to a coaching staff which has done a lot with late round DB picks, Now the Bills coaching staff have a safety drafted in 2nd round and started in the Superbpwl with good game mechanics and sound tackling; they just need to improve his cover skills. He will learn a lot watching Hyde and Poyer prepare and be sound player for special teams due to his sound tackling. Growing up in Seattle he is used to having cloudy skies unlike some of the players who seem to have season depression. He also likes fishing and will find plenty of places to do it locally. His family is partial Canadian with father being from Toronto and has been to Bills games. It Rapp really likes the locker room and coaching staff he may replace one of the starting safeties next year. I think whether his new wife likes area will be big factor especially since he was just married.
  8. Poyer for a safety is very strong. One game they did a stunt and he occupied a lineman while defense lineman helped engage end so two could blitz from one side. Lineman looked at him with look "What do you think you are doing?" and then he started pushing the offense lineman into pocket. Hyde is really a hybrid Safety and CB and can play any position. Rapp is very athletic but not as fast as some other safeties. He has boundless energy however and when Bills are playing contain having someone who can come in fresh will help a lot. He started for Rams for last 2 years. He seems more of a substitute for Poyer to me than Hyde and Hyde is the one whose contract ends this year. He is very good tackler but not so good in coverage.
  9. No. Something I saw on shelf when shopping. I assume it is for a salad but did not read further. Agree. Question is how many safeties and how many CBs will be on roster.
  10. Agree completely. I can read a book (i.e. classic pulp) on my 31" LCD screen but cannot read those books on kindle.
  11. Biggest difference IMO was willingness to sell front page advertising space. It would be like Bills selling ad space on helmet to ECMC with print "Concussion Care". Before and after of 2nd set of pictures makes no sense.
  12. CPI also changes items accounting for inflation so the point is CPI is useless for judging inflation and it is a straw man argument. And I have no idea on who Einstein is. Certainly no Einstein on this board.
  13. CPI has always underestimated inflation because government bases raises, per diem, etc on it. Even a 5th grader knows that!
  14. He is basically telling teams if you do not sign me I will sign with one of your competitors (Buffalo, New Jersey or Jacksonville) and while they may not make playoffs they might be able to steal a game with my help hurting your playoff standings.
  15. Or Ranch Taco Dressing - two things which belong together for they both make me I hate the offseason.
  16. OK Magazine is reporting it but it appears to be some reality TV magazine whose reality is as close to reality as some Bills fans. Personally I do not care.
  17. That is due to the holder before Martin who set expectations really low. Besides according to some experts on this board you do not need to play ST players any more than you pay the people who sell you overpriced beers in the stands.
  18. Rapp is probably better in some situations. It would be good that he be heavily rotated and in some cases three safeties of field. An advantage of Hyder & Poyer is they are very football smart and can play either position even when it can be distinguished per-snap. Rapp can study with them and join the rotation to really confuse defenses.
  19. Considering number of people let go by ESPN and Buffalo News they should be able to find someone.
  20. Browns need more help and the brown color would fit him better.
  21. New customers are always devalued by salesmen who get bonuses based on new customers. My wife stopped BJs membership for a month and changed email address so she could get offer to new customers only. It requires auto renew so we will just cancel credit card before end of period.
  22. We have been raising money for charities for almost 3 decades and lately there have been push to contribute a split to Bills Mafia supported charities. I told one person at last annual tailgate we never heard of the charity and that others have been part of our tailgate for years. The few people associated with it left. Never saw them at tailgate before but there was over 500 one year.
