One of Pegula’s strengths is her fearlessness to employ different strategies. Against Świątek, she constantly hit into her body, making her opponent’s return shot even more difficult.

In both matches, Pegula was comfortable engaging in long rallies, while waiting for her opponent to make the first mistake.

This strategy underscores her confidence in her recent form, which could undoubtedly be pivotal against a hard-hitter like Sabalenka.

"Below average passer" is a defendable position.  "Below average quarterback" is not.    He is an offensive weapon - and I believe that many teams would happily trade their QB for him straight up.

I am sure Browns would with that contract they are saddled with but Lemar's agent is too smart for that and he could not be hanging out with his high school and college friends on practice nights drinking if he was in Cleveland.

She also defines her hometown as Buffalo. That has to count for something if she herself defines herself from here.

She likely could get more endorsements if she identified as being from someplace else as well as move to state with no income tax to save on that.

Do tennis players pay income tax where they play like football players do?

Worthy had a good game.  It happens.  Can we all just pump the brakes a little bit before we fit him for his Hall of Fame jacket?

Worthy should retire immediately so he can be eligible for Hall of Fame jacket sooner.

Lately the MVP and Hall of Fame voters have been dunderheads.

It’s only a matter of time before DCs play press coverage when Worthy is line up on the LOS, depending on the game situation. I haven’t changed my opinion one bit that he is an off ball receiver because he struggles against press coverage, especially against bigger, stronger CBs. Kudos to Mahomes for seeing the play, but it never would have happened if Worthy wasn’t allowed a free release.

If he was pressed Mahones would whine and audition for diaper commercial.

Yes, Chiefs would have gotten him regardless.. unless we drafted him.

Ironically, the Chiefs being physical with our WR’s in the Playoffs and clamping them with single coverage is probably why we avoided him.

You can see it in our overall philosophy with Kincaid, Knox, Coleman, Hollins and MVS.  Even Shakir and Samuel are thicker WR’s for the slot/gadget stuff we’ll run.

Diggs especially was out muscled having him get banged up and needing to sit to rest so that was definitely a consideration of Beane when he drafted.

I was surprised how much contact was allowed on him and reminded me of Bills-Giants Superbowl where DBs were told to hit and hold WRs even if they were penalized (rarely) to disrupt and slow down Bills offense.

The "hoodlums" were actually the Henchmen motorcycle club, who were taken over by the Satan's Choice, who were eventually taken over by the Hells Angels, so we had a lot of action going on in that neighborhood, i can tell you and ain't nobody wanted to mess with another man's business.

.........seeing KKK members being tied up, chained and dragged behind an old Dodge Duster is something i will not soon forget, nor should it have been something a 5 year old kid should ever witness.

Thanks for information.  I am assuming this is California where motorcycles are very big.  First time I drove there I was shocked to seeing caravan of bikes driving down middle of road between lanes of traffic.

We used to hear gun shots all night and wake up in the morning and find shell casings all over the road on our way to school......husbands would be out in the middle of the street smacking their wives and girlfriends around (nobody did nothing or even attempted to step in).......cops were called out to the old neighborhood every 20 minutes (sometimes they showed up and sometimes not)........street brawls were the order of the day.

The KKK opened a chapter across the street......until some of the neighborhood hoodlums drove them out of town, tied-up and dragging them behind an old Dodge Duster.

When i was a kid growing up in the middle of all this, it was normal and just the way it was.......it wasn't until i grew up that i realized that the whole thing was just wrong and a terrible environment for a kid to ever be raised in.

Looking back now, it was some wild, wild stuff, man.

I am glad the hoodlums were part of the neighborhood cleanup brigade.

Do you think a phone may be capable of feeling shame?

    :)

I am sure the "smart" phone is ashamed of its dumb user.

Funny thing is I have a patent which was licensed by 13 companies for ICR (image character recognition) contributing to current document recognition but I have no idea how facial recognition works.

Well, let us HOPE it’s a good sign. I don’t brag much about how the Bills strangely find a way to lose when I am present in person. Another couple years like this and I expect they will use facial recognition technology to keep me out of the stadium. 😂

That was pretty freaky! Have a great stay.

I wonder how well facial recognition technology recognizes faces with face oainting.

My phone cannot even seem to recognize my own face to unlock it.

I love rooting for this kid too but I am very scared hes not gonna be ready for McBride.  But on the plus side stopping the run is his strength and thats the key to this game.  I would consider using him in simulated and creeper pressures and drop a DE into coverage.  I dont know that you lose a lot in terms of coverage ability but you gain the element of surprise.  Lastly on obvious passing downs Edwards should come in.  Hopefully I'm wrong or as we get through the first part of the season he continues to grow (was satisfied with his improvement this offseason), but his tape to date is tough.

If you are going to drop a DE in coverage best that it be A.J. Epenesa for he has shown he can make plays even when he is off the line.

My daughter made a last minute decision, got tix and went last night.  She wore a Bills hat and said she got a number of 'Go Bills!' from other fans.  At the end of the first set I jokingly texted maybe she should take the hat off 😛

If would have been very appropriate if she was wearing a Frank Reich jersey.

I’d like to see bills fans in Open stands with oversized labatts. Tennis world could use a little more beer

Part of the problem with Open is corporate owned lower bowl seats and many of them were empty during match according to photos taken.

I agree with you, but Kirk Cousins was the first guy to negotiate a fully guaranteed contract. He doesn't seem to get a ton of respect for his negotiation skills.

Yes because he decided he would be willing to get less to get a fully guaranteed  contract to which some is boring -  the Browns overpaid on a fully guaranteed  contract.

Unranked only because she was out 9 months with an injury. She is a top 10 talent.

Great grit and determination by Jess tonight. I watched the whole thing on my iPad with the football game on the big screen.

    She did Buffalo proud.

Jessica Pegula rallies for 3-set win to reach US Open final

    https://www.espn.com/tennis/story/_/id/41142914/jessica-pegula-defeats-karolina-muchova-semifinals-reach-2024-us-open-final

    Quote

Jessica Pegula shrugged off a sluggish start and came back from a set and a break down at the US Open to defeat Karolina Muchova 1-6, 6-4, 6-2 on Thursday night for a berth in her first Grand Slam final.

The No. 6-seeded Pegula, a 30-year-old from New York, has won 15 of her past 16 matches and will meet No. 2 Aryna Sabalenka for the title on Saturday.

Took Pegula a while to play that well Thursday, but once she got going, whoa, did she ever. All told, she collected nine of 11 games, a span that allowed her to not merely flip the second set but race to a 3-0 edge in the third.

Her nickname should be Comeback Queen.
