Interesting. What I want to talk about is that the Bills scored a TD on a WR screen to Shakir, who made an incredibly athletic play at the end to get into the EZ. According to everyone, the Bills are not supposed to be able to do any of that.

In the era of instant (and I mean INSTANT) replays that seems like a poor excuse for the officiating staff.

The refs were awful, both teams have a lot to complain about.

Whatever happened to the calls from eye in sky telling zebras to not flag it?   They seemed to do that during preseason games and it worked out.

I get that it comes with the territory to a point, but for the love of God leave the dude alone. Boo him on the field when he plays bad, sure, but he has the right to be human. If we had thousands of people taking the piss out of us any time we made a mistake it would take a toll after a while. Doesn’t matter how much he’s paid (though I’m sure it helps) but when he isn’t working he shouldn’t have to deal with mouth breathers yelling at him. I’m sure he’s done some good things off the field and people need to remember that as well as the things he does for 60 mins on Sundays.

…sorry, not sure why I ranted there but this is crossing a line in my eyes.

Just as Bills fans starting harassing a player at his home one time.  I understand why players want to be isolated from fans sometimes and if I was a very well paid player like Jones I'd likely have an escort away from stadium or stay at stadium until crowds gone.

Except when he makes huge plays in key moments in big games?

That is what I am seeing but when he is put in key moment and fails because he played poorly their opinion may change.

    Because Elam isn't good.

This board likes him waaaay more than our coaches do.

Except they must see SOMETHING in him to keep him.  They have cut or traded away picks not working out and he was able to make two interceptions in playoffs.

Ingram and Lewis played for Taron of the two Lewis was much better IMO.

Lewis is not built for job he was doing very, very well and needed occasional breather.

Lewis is getting some national recognition for job he was forced to do and he should get more.

Bills need to adjust scheme however if Taron Johnson is out or Miami will exploit his weaknesses.

Yep. If Trubitsky started yesterday, we get killed. If he was the guy last year, no way we win that Steelers playoff game (where Allen again took over) and no way we have the hot finish. Only other QB that would have us playing at the level we are now is Mahomes. Jackson has a lot more help in Baltimore and Stroud has alot more help in Houston than Allen does here. Burrow is significantly overrated it appears when Chase and Higgins aren't on it.

If Bills did not have Allen then another QB would have been starter not Trubitsky.  Trubitsky is backup because team is structured around Allen including money;  Bills would likely be playing on a rookie QB not because Pegulas unwilling to pay for good QB but because there are few QBs worth what they are being paid these days.

Brian Daboll will be on the market after this season I think.

This is why when Coordinators get opportunity to get head coaching jobs they need to carefully consider it - is organization including ownership and players you inherit able to support your goals?  Are there good coaches you are able to hire available?   In Coach McD there were serious flaws but they had ownership willing to take the pains you planned on taking and an assistant GM who was always the bride maid and never the bride who you could work with.  Unfortunately Giants doubled down with Jones after a good season and it was not a good bet.

Barkley is a good RB but only when you respect the QB and not stack the box.

Sorry to say, but that is what comes with playing with the Jets or Giants. It doesn't make it right, but those fans will not endure any kind of drought especially when it looks like the Jets will be good. Sports fandom in the Tri-State area is a combat sport and these guys are taking shots from Jets fans left and right.

So glad both teams are part of NJ now - only if NYC  and suburbs were part of it.

Can’t they train him to be a safety or something? The kid is at least fast and athletic.

I'm not one to defend Dorsey, but there are several much more relevant reasons the Browns struggled than it was Dorrsey's fault.

He knew what he was getting into when he took job - bad ownership, dysfunctional  QB, etc.  Sometimes it is best to pass opportunity to wait for better one.

He's done. It was an insane move to begin with and he just looks worse and worse every year.

Browns improved when they hired Van Pelt who worked with and rebuilt Baker, Browns got rid of Van Pelt, Browns brought in serial groper, got rid of Baker and Browns team has nose dived.  The serial groper already was on way out at Houston and they got a barrel of picks for him because multiple teams bid for him ignoring his issues.  Highest bidder lost and will ruin franchise for years.

What does Browns stand for? What the bottom of sole looks like when walking through manure.

Wait Cam Lewis gets a gameball, same dude you said shouldn't be on this roster 2 weeks ago?

As I mentioned then, and will say again, Cam plays such a versatile/important role as a backup nickle and safety.

Being willing to change opinion based on facts is sign of an open mind.  I used to have drag out battles with ICE (Brian) and some of my opinions changed.

  14. Bills show ability to overcome adversity in season-opening win against Cardinals

On top of overcoming the difference on the scoreboard, the Bills had to battle some early injury adversity with All-Pro corner Taron Johnson going down on the first drive of the game.

Fortunately for the Bills, they have the dependable Cam Lewis.

The former UB Bull stepped up when his number was called, contributing 10 tackles, second-most on the team.

Lewis said he takes pride in being a sort of Swiss Army knife for the Bills defense.

"100%, that's why I'm here," Lewis said. "That's why I have a job. Try to play all four core special teams, nickel, dime, safety. Whatever you need me to do, I'm going to do it to the best of my ability. I've been in this system for six years now so I know the ins and outs of it. Whatever I've got to do to help my team win is what I'm going to do."

  15. UB boys Lewis, Ingram come through for Bills during comeback win over Cardinals

When you're an undrafted free agent, your path to a contributing role on an NFL roster is a challenging one. But for former University at Buffalo Bulls Cam Lewis and Ja'Marcus Ingram, both Bills defensive backs, they've made the most of their opportunity at the professional level.

Both players have risen in the ranks on the Bills' roster over the past number of seasons, with Lewis being brought in by the team as a UDFA in 2019 and Ingram signed during the 2022 campaign. Each player began their career with roles on the Bills' practice squad but have since been elevated to the 53-man roster. On Sunday, both Lewis and Ingram were presented a significant opportunity and they cashed in.

No surprise on them cashing in with coach known for developing underdeveloped, less known college candidates - they have more to develop.

Don't you think being labeled as a pariah, an untouchable (pardon the pun), is significant motivation to be successful, to redeem himself?

Likely when he quits he will change his name and just get away from everything including his reputation.

They are totally, totally screwed.  Watson sucks.  He is a below average QB being paid like a god.

How has Watson regressed so much? He looks lost.

He has no incentive - he is already rich with guaranteed contract and no chance of another team giving him another one so all he needs to perform enough to not be let go for violating contract.

    Everyone eats...

Coleman 4 receptions for 51 yards

Shakir 3 receptions for 42 yards and a TD

Hollins 2 receptions for 25 yards and a TD

Samuel 2 receptions for 15 yards

MVS 1 reception for 19 yards

Wide receivers had 152 yards and 2 TDs in week one. Good start.

Including TEs and RBs, 9 players caught a ball from Josh today (10 players were targeted).

I also liked that the all 3 running backs had carries and passing targets.

    Every receiver had a catch.

2 of 3 TEs had a catch. Morris also played but was not targeted.

    But yeah, everyone eats.

Pass catchers are what we expected and Allen passed it around.

Coleman was the big target rookie opposition was afraid of and slanted coverage against.

Shakir was the workhorse who caught everything and made extra yards including a TD.

Cook made enough catches that they needed to honor RB out of backfield.

Hollins who was the big man who in endzone used his height to get us a TD.

The others ensured that wherever a potential receiver was it needed to be defended.

I prefer this than to one player who can be double or triple covered to neutralize our offense.

Cam Lewis played fairly good in the absence of Taron, so if Taron has to miss a few weeks that's hopefully a sign that they can get good play out of Lewis.

Lewis needs a backup however - he is only backup to Taron and MCB is essential for this defense.  Bills can not change defenses between weeks like Wade Phillips did except for the "Keep him honest" defense Bills used against Most overVaued QB in playoff game against Ravens.
