Bills Offensive Line---they make everything go...
norton20 replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thrilled to see guards that can pull! Marrone wanted immobile fat guys and it drove me nuts. Very happy to date with this line. The continuity and Miller's improvement have made a huge difference. -
They certainly have a chance, especially if they can get a lead and run in the 4th quarter to ice the game. I know this isn't your main point but I sort of doubt Dareus is back this week. He injured his hamstring the day before they flew to LA so this Friday will be 2 weeks. That seems like a mighty short recovery time for a hamstring especially for a guy Dareus's size.

He IS back in his old form. Even in years better than 2015, there were games he'd completely disappear.

Watkins Ruled Out For Sunday (Update - placed on IR)

Thank you for the information. I appreciate it. I agree that waiting to see if it heals before doing surgery is understandable. My only caveat is if that would put the season in jeopardy. As you say, even with a very late in the offseason surgery, he did get back for camp. I do question though how healthy he really was. He didn't look right against Baltimore and looked like a shell of himself against the Jets. That was before he got stepped on. It is my understanding that there is more than a normal chance of re-injury with this type of surgery and thus being absolutely sure of his health was critical before putting him out there or working him aggressively in pre season practices. I agree with you totally about the "ready from a medical standpoint" vs effectiveness issue. It seemed clear that even if medically ready he was not effective as he would be if healthy. This has the look of a lost season for Watkins. He is (was?) a critical part of their offense and not being totally sure of his health going into camp and the season seems like a major faux pas. -

I may have missed this but wonder why it took till May for them to do his foot surgery? Did he injure it in training or OTAs offseason but close to May? If the injury was earlier, then they are idiots for not doing it sooner. Other questions: why run him at training camp if he's not fully healed? Why play him vs Jets on only 5 days rest? This team is super stupid when it comes to injuries. Rush them back then watch them get injured and be out even longer than they would be if they had just let the guy heal. Be wary of Cordy Glenn and his high ankle sprain again too. -
Jeez quite the condescending little asshat aren't you. I've watched this team for 56 years so bite me. Actually John, if you were paying attention last game, (did mom let you stay up late and watch the whole thing) you might have noticed no pass rush, bad db play, runners that go sideways instead of taking what's available up the middle, horrifyingly bad uses of timeouts, misthrows on simple out routes by the QB and the ususal litany of things that have plagued this team for 16 going on17 years. And yes John, if you havent been watching for the full 17 years or so, the quarterbacks have sucked. A lot.

I was wrong, and I don't mind saying it..

18 games and counting. -
Gee thanks John. Glad to know I have your permission. Please name all the great QB's in the last 56 years, especially the last 16. I'm sure you've been here for at least the last few anyway.

Texans v the Hated Hated Patriots Game Thread
norton20 replied to Jauronimo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bitching about the Bills before, during and after losses is part of the WNY culture. Hell even when they were winning, as infrequently as that's been, people bitched because they didn't win pretty enough. They've had 22 winning seasons since 1960. I've been here for almost all of them. It's not like we don't get a lot of practice bitching about them losing. If you can't deal with it you are on the wrong board. -
Good quarterbacking cures almost all ills. Not present here forever.

The girl is Rachel Nichols. She is a former Washington Post sports columnist and stars on ESPN's show The Jump. She's been on ESPN's football and basketball coverage for quite a while. She is definitely wired into the league and has been an excellent investigative reporter. I wouldn't pooh pooh her opinions -
Bills vs Jets Second Half Game Thread

I'm ready for Mike Gillislee to play more. I'm ready for Charles Clay to go. They have no pass rush besides Hughes.Conceptually flawed D tonight. If they go 0-4, I'm ready for a Sabre like tank for a top college QB. Might like some one besides Doug Whaley making that pick. -
What is the biggest question mark going into Game One
norton20 replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My biggest question mark is can they stay healthy? I think they are competitive when they are healthy but do not have quality depth in a number of places. -
Totally agree

After watching the highlights, Striker reminds me of Troy Polamalu. He hits like a linebacker but runs like a safety. I hope they give this guy every chance to find a niche in this defense. He has rare speed/intensity/anticipation skills. http://www.newyorkup...signings.html#2

Striker just blew me away on the tape I saw. Here is a link. Scroll through and Striker is after Gronkowski. Just hit the highlights: http://www.newyorkupstate.com/buffalo-bills/index.ssf/2016/05/nfl_draft_2016_glenn_gronkowski_joe_licata_highlight_buffalo_bills_udfa_signings.html#2

Who thinks the team will play hard tomorrow?
norton20 replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Might be more Jets fans than Bills fans there tomorrow. The Bills are playing enough backups that they could play hard and still not be competitive. If the Jets lose I think it will be one of the biggest choke jobs of all time. I doubt they recover any time soon. -
Dennis Thurman should never, ever be allowed to speak
norton20 replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's just bullshitting the interviewer. He doesn't want to acknowledge the obvious: their defense was no good and he and Rex were largely to blame. -
"Experts" Picks Week 17 vs the Jets
norton20 replied to CodeMonkey's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly my feelings. I think the line of Jets -3 is way too low. I see a mismatch. -
Jets--they really aren't much, if at all better than Bills
norton20 replied to Big Turk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Given the Bills injuries, the Jets are definitely better than the Bills are now. It is like watching bad preseason football with this motley crew the Bills are throwing out there. I cannot imagine any Bills corner shutting down Marshall or Decker to say the least for this sorry crew of linebackers having to defend the pass or the run. The Bills strength in running the ball doesn't matchup well against the Jets D line either notwithstanding what they did against them in NY. I don't think next Sunday's game is going to be close. Sorry.
