Brandon Beane end of season press conference 1/27 11am

Matekevich isn’t going anywhere. If anything, they will restructure or extend him. They value STs, and he was Farwell’s #1 ask last year. -

Boettger is an RFA, so he will be tendered for sure. According to Spotrac, Morse's cap hit for 2021 is $10.35 mil and his dead cap hit is listed at $5.5, so they'd save almost $5 mil if they release him. Some interesting tidbits from Beane related to Morse: he's not going to over-power a DT; he commented on how well they ran the ball against the Pats when Morse was out. I'm wondering if they think they need someone else who would better anchor the middle? -

I'm sure he saw even more doubles this year without a true one technique next to him. -
I was thinking same. I guess there is such thing as a "sore winner...." It may take more than one season to catch them though.

Andy Reid out-coaches everyone.

It took Andy Reid a long time to get over the hump. He never won the big one in Philly, then he had the Patriots to deal with in the AFC. He persisted. His teams got better and better, and now they are on the verge of a Super Bowl repeat, and Reid may be viewed as one of the great all-time coaches. I see this Bills team in a similar situation. They will continue to build and get better in order to get past KC. It's going to take a few years, but it will happen. It was a great ride this season.

My comment was about Josh in general, not why the Bills lost to KC last time. The issue is he still has the tendency to try take the big play over the sure outlet play. He has shown the ability to do the latter over the former, but his instinct is to go for the big play. It's related to some threads that @Hapless Bills Fan made during the season. In the above analysis, he showed how KC used that tendency in the way they defended Josh and the Bills. I believe that once he is able to control that instinct, he will be a more complete QB, and the Bills O will be even more difficult to stop.

He's certainly done it (take the easy but short pass) before, but typically when the Bills have the lead. Controlling his hero ball instinct may be the last thing he needs to work on to become nearly unstoppable... I'm not sure how you come away from that analysis thinking his shoulder injury is what makes him take the deep(er) shot and pass up the easy outlet pass?

On the other side of the speed spectrum, this is the first time watching it that I noticed Poyer take out Marquise Brown, probably the fastest player out there. He might not have caught TJ, but Poyer did a good job to take him out.

This morning when I scanned TBD, I read the first word in your title as "Beer"....didn't have the sleep out of my eyes yet...

I was at that game, and what I will always remember is how the fans stayed for some 15-20 minutes (maybe longer?) after the game cheering and hollering to acknowledge what an incredible feat it was for the Bills to make it to their fourth straight Super Bowl appearance. What an incredible atmosphere it was! -
Justin Zimmer...unsung defensive hero?

He and Phillips just might be the key to the game, as they seemed to be the better run-plugging unit in the Ravens game. -

My point was that it's a lot easier to game plan when a team is one dimensional, so my focus was on Frazier's job going forward. Despite the Bills being one-dimensional in the "traditional" sense, we also have Josh and his running ability, so that does create an added dimension to stopping the Bills. I'd expect to see some designed runs this early in the game, much like against the Colts. -
I had that feeling before the Ravens game. Told my buddies it was the calmest I've been for a Bills game in ages. Trust the process....

Jake Kumerow Expected To Re-Join Bills Practice Squad

He knows the playbook better than any other option at WR, and more important, I'm sure he's developed some trust with Josh. Gabe Davis was a non-entity after hurting his ankle, so that will be an important development this week... -
The running game has to be there vs KC this week.
TPS replied to Toyo321's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yeah, the run D is more important to the Bills than their run O for this game. Reid was fine running the ball last game as the Bills focused on limiting big plass plays from Mahomes. Should be a great game. -

If you’re basing things solely on rankings, then the Bills D shouldn’t worry anyone either. That said, As I recall last year, KC’s D was ranked in the bottom half of the league during the season then turned it up during the playoffs. For me, the main issue going forward is that the remaining teams all have balanced Os while the Bills don’t. It’s easier to come up with a scheme to defend a one-dimensional team. Frazier has his work cut out for him...
